Well I got a working copy of GOW using first tutorial. Yay. However now that is not enough. I want a GOW that will play through the end scenes and all the extras. I'm greedy. WTF is this about TOXIC PATCHER. Can I use this to get a more complete version of GOW? I found the patch but how do I apply it to the iso? With a tool? I'm stupid with computers and I struggled for a couple days just to get my first working GOW with sonix tutorial. Let me know if i should give up Please.

No. TOXIC patcher is a plugin for modchips that are compatiable with it. It allows the ps2 to read dvd+r dl backups. So basically, its useless to you unless you are going to do a full dvd9 backup of GoW which i do not recommend.

I noticed you don't recommend backup of GOW on DVD9. I burnt it 3 times (including GT4) and used it on 3 different PS2's without an issue so far.

Hi everyone. I followed the tutorial and burned the iso file to a DVD+R disc I had. When I checked it after burning originally, it looked as though not a whole lot of info was recorded onto the disc (just a small ring of recorded area, whereas with other games I've burned, almost the full disc was recorded on), but when I check it in explorer, it said the DVD contained 3.47 GB.
I am unable to get this to work in my PS2, I was just wondering if anybody has any idea where I might have gone wrong here? Thanks in advance for any information!

Did you delete all the .PSW files and ONLY the BONUS.PSS files? And that should leave you with an ISO of about 3.5 GB.

no it was 4gb but I red that it can work if it doesn,t pass 4,2 in harddrive space. The game works but the vids don't play...If in the relinking process I relink more than 1 file that is missing to the same pss file is that a problem?

You don't have to delete ALL the BONUS**.PSS files when making a DVD5 backup.
There's enough room left to retain SOME bonus content.
Here's what I recommend: *PAL version*
BONUS01 = Game completed message (8.2MB) KEEP
BONUS03 = Making of the game (409MB) DELETE
BONUS06 = Deleted levels footage (221MB) DELETE
BONUS10 = Creature design artwork (75.6MB) DELETE
BONUS12 = Kratos design sketches (120MB) DELETE
BONUS14 = Location design sketches (121MB) DELETE
BONUS16 = Kratos background story (42.8MB) KEEP
BONUS17 = Kratos origin secret (76MB) KEEP
BONUS18 = What became of the Titan (30.4MB) KEEP
BONUS19 = Easter Egg message (56.2MB) DELETE
BONUS20 = Credits (105MB) KEEP
BONUS20A= Kratos message (2.1MB) KEEP
BONUS21 = Trailer (24.5MB) KEEP
BONUS24 = God message (45.3MB) KEEP
By KEEPing the specified bonus files, you will not lose ANY story/ending/secret movies or messages.
ENJOY!

I have the PAL version of God Of War, and i managed after many fustrating Hours to finally back it up. I clocked a good 9 hours before getting it done.
For any newbies who are attempting to back up a PAL version of GOW, dont be thrown off by guides when you get to the CDVDGEN part saying wright down the digits beside, SLUS OR SLES files, in the PAL version these files are named, SCES. Just continue as you normal would with guide after than.
Also i got an error message (AFTER) the files finished extracting, but when i retried this it worked without any errors, so be patient and keep trying.

Yo,subzero14
Use Jizmak guide, its the exact same method i used when backing up God of War and ive finished the backed up game without any problems.
All Credit goes to Jizmak)
Programs needed:
Dvd Decrypter: http://dvddecrypter.com/index.php?act=download
Isobuster: http://www.isobusterdownload.org/isobuster_all_lang.zip
Cdvdgen: http://www.btinternet.com/~ps2rippininfo/tools/cddvdgen.exe
1) COPY THE PS2 GAME DVD TO YOUR HARD DRIVE AS AN ISO IMAGE.
a)OPEN DVD Decrypter.
b)IN THE DESTINATION AREA, CLICK ON THE FOLDER ICON TO CHOOSE BOTH A NAME AND A STORAGE LOCATION FOR THE ISO IMAGE.
c)CLICK ON MODE > ISO > READ.
d)CLICK ON THE DVD ICON TO START THE PROCESS.
e)WAIT UNTIL THE PROCESS IS FINISHED THEN CLOSE DECRYPTER AND GO TO STEP 2.
2) EXTRACT THE FILES FROM THE ISO IMAGE.
a) CREATE A NEW FOLDER ON YOUR HARD DRIVE TO STORE THE
EXTRACTED FILES.
b) OPEN ISO BUSTER AND CLICK ON FILE > OPEN IMAGE FILE.
c) NAVIGATE TO THE ISO FILE CREATED IN STEP 1 AND CLICK ON ?OPEN?.
d) HOLD THE CONTROL KEY ON YOUR KEYBOARD AND LEFT CLICK
EVERY FILE AND FOLDER IN THE LIST.
e) ONCE ALL THE FILES ARE HIGHLIGHTED, RIGHT CLICK ON ONE OF THEM AND CLICK ON ?EXTRACT OBJECTS?.
f) NAVIGATE TO THE NEW FOLDER THAT YOU CREATED ON YOUR
HARD DRIVE AND CLICK ?OK?.
g) WAIT FOR THE PROCESS TO FINISH THEN CLOSE ISOBUSTER.
3) CONVERT THE EXTRACTED FILES INTO 2 BIN FILES.
a) OPEN CDVDGEN.
b) SELECT ?CREATE NEW PROJECT? AND THEN SELECT ?DVD-ROM
MASTER DISC?. DRAG CDVDGEN TO THE LEFT SIDE OF YOUR
SCREEN.
c) NAVIGATE TO THE FOLDER THAT YOU CREATED ON YOUR HARD
DRIVE BACK IN STEP 2 AND OPEN IT ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF YOUR SCREEN.
d) SET THE WIDTH OF THAT WINDOW SO THAT IT IS ONLY 1 FILE WIDE. THIS WILL PLACE THE FILES INTO THE SAME ORDER AS THEY WERE ON THE GAME DISK BUT YOU SHOULD CHECK THEM FOR CORRECT ORDER JUST IN CASE.
e) CLICK ON EDIT > SELECT ALL.
f) DRAG ALL THE FILES INTO THE RIGHT SIDE OF CDVDGEN.
g) LOOK FOR A SLUS OR SLES FILE AND WRITE DOWN THE FULL NAME AND THEN CLICK ON THE ?VOLUME? TAB IN CDVDGEN.
h)TYPE SLUS OR SLES (WHICHEVER YOUR FILE NAME IS) INTO THE 1ST BOX NEAR "DISC NAME"
i) TYPE ALL OF THE NUMBERS FROM YOUR FILE NAME, WITHOUT THE PERIOD, INTO THE 2ND BOX.
j) TYPE PLAYSTATION FOR THE PRODUCER NAME AND SELECT THE APPROPRIATE LICENSE AREA.
k)CLICK ON "REC...".
l)SELECT YOUR DESIRED STORAGE LOCATION AND NAME THE FILE STAR.IML
m)YOU WILL GET 2 ERRORS, JUST CLICK OK FOR BOTH.
(If you get one error message, then you have to download ?WNASPI32.DLL? www.nero.com/us/WNASPI32.DLL.html
and put it in your windows system 32 folder.
n)THE RECORDING SCREEN WILL POP UP, CLICK ON FILE > EXPORT IMAGE AND SAVE IT ON ONE OF YOUR HARD DRIVES (NOT IN A FOLDER) NAME IT STAR.LST
o) WHEN IT'S FINISHED, YOU WILL HAVE 2 FILES NAMED STAR.000 AND STAR.001
p)CLOSE CDVDGEN AND GO TO STEP 4.
4) MERGE THE .000 AND .001 FILES INTO A SINGLE ISO IMAGE.
THE EASIEST WAY TO MERGE THE FILES IS FROM A COMMAND SCREEN.
YOU WON'T HAVE TO INSTALL AN EXTRA PROGRAM THAT MAY NEED
EXTRA FILES TO WORK AND COME ON, ADMIT IT, DOS IS SO MUCH FUN!!
a)CLICK THE WINDOWS START BUTTON AND CLICK ON RUN.
b)TYPE CMD IN THE BOX AND HIT ENTER.
c)CHANGE THE DIRECTORY TO MATCH WHERE YOUR STAR.000 AND STAR.001
FILES ARE STORED.
EXAMPLE- IF THEY ARE ON THE C DRIVE, TYPE CD C:\ AND HIT ENTER.
IF THEY ARE ON ANOTHER DRIVE, TYPE THE DRIVE LETTER WITH A COLON AND HIT ENTER.
d)ONCE YOU HAVE THE CORRECT DIRECTORY-
TYPE COPY/B STAR.000 + STAR.001 STAR.ISO AND THEN HIT ENTER.
e)WHEN IT'S FINISHED YOU WILL HAVE A NEW ISO IMAGE NAMED STAR.ISO THAT YOU CAN NOW BURN IN STEP 5.
5) BURN THE NEW ISO IMAGE ONTO A BLANK DVD.
USE YOUR FAVORITE DVD BURNING UTILITY TO BURN IT AT THE
SLOWEST SPEED.

Ok, here's my problem..
I've tried to backup the whole lot inc bonus etc files using sonix tutorial 2... everything has gone fine up to the point where he says to join the files together again using his join.bat file.
when i run the join.bat file it comes up with errors (not the ones that i got when demuxing them) and don't get any pss files at the end either.
any ideas where this is going wrong? I'm thinking of trying to put the whole command line into the bat file, maybe that's the problem?
the errors i am getting is
Quote: MSCOMCT2.OCX not currently registered: file missing or invalid
all suggestions greatly received... spent around 4-5 hours doing this so far and want to finish it.
Thanks

the bat file is just an auto way of doing the Combining,you could open up your command, and use the command,
Copy/b file.000 + file.001 file.iso
(replacing the file with your file name of course)

It would be advised to make back up of the files before you continue... Since you've spent so long you dont need to mess up near the end
