After asking what I should do I just tried the GOD OF WAR TOOL and opened and then opened my GODOFWAR.TOC and EXTRACTED it, but don't know it went since there was no where to save the file to, I mean it never gives you the option of where to put the files you just extracted. When I hit the extraction button it took off showing my alot of the files as my hard drive went through them. After it was done it said extraction completed. What do I to now, how do I find where those files went??????????/ ANYONE

well somtimes it depends what version of PS2 u have which the laser is sensitive for certain brand of media, but one thing for sure is that always set your DVD witer to the DVD-ROM booktype for burning PS2 games so your PS2 can read better.

OK GUYS.. I burned one using the guide (not downsample method) iso size was 3.47 gig. Played it all the way through no freezes!!! weeee!!! But after i defeated aries like the little hoe he is the game froze during the ending cinimatics when the oracle is talking about mortal beating a god. I guess its not bad unless there is like a new game+ mode. Is there any reason why i should spend more hours trying for a better copy?

Finally, after searching, I found the extracted files and opened it up, but only saw .PSS. Deleted them and the folder went to around 3.5 gigs. Used GOD OF WAR TOOL again and chose rebuild and it added the .PSW files. Went back to my folder and no .PSS files, but saw it did put in .PSW files. What do I do now?? Do I delete the .PSW files and then hit rebuild again or what. I'm afraid if I do, it'll just put them right back in again. HELP, ANYONE--Just need a little guidence from this point. I'm so close to gettig it, I can taste it.

Hey, I downloaded the game off of a web site (Already that sounds like a bad idea) well it looked alright, it said DVD5 and 3.5 Gigs so I thought what do I have to loose. Loaded it up on HD Advance and all I get is the "Sony Computer Entertainment of America" Screen frozen. Is anyone else getting this? Or should I just delete it and try my luck flattening the disc myself?

Do it yourself. It's really not that hard. Just use the tutorial in this topic on the first page.

Going on memory, I redid SONIX's tutorial and made it easier to understand. Hopefully this will help those in distress as his original tutorial wasn't very clear. Good luck!!

*except the bonus movies*
*NOTE*
This fix does not work for use on a HDD only
for DVD-R backup

All credits go to SONIX.
His website is:
http://www.backuptools.co.uk/

Apache 2 and other tools can be found at the above address

For those of you with swap magic disks 3.0 and lower.
You have to use dvd loader to boot.

You will need:

1)DVD Decryptor

Get it here: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_... and click on the download link at the bottom.

2)CD DVD Gen 1.5

Get it here: http://home.versatel.nl/joeriroels/Download/download.html and download the file called "# $ONY CDVDGEN 1.5". You will be redirected to this
website in 15 seconds.

3)Apache 2

Go to: http://www.backuptools.co.uk/ , click the download link in the left panel, then type "apache 2" in the search engine on the next page. Download "Apache 2".

4)God of War Tool

Go to: http://www.backuptools.co.uk/ , click the download link in the left panel, then type "god of war" in the search engine on the
next page. Download "God of War Tool".

-Create a folder for the God of War ISO you are going to rip and call it "Original ISO".

-Create a folder called "God of War" this is where you will put your extracted files etc.

-Open your "God of War" folder and create four folders within it. Call them: GOW, Apache 2, CD DVD Gen 1.5, and God of War Tool.
Place and extract Apache 2, CD DVD Gen 1.5, and God of War Tool in their folders. You will have to install CD DVD Gen 1.5 after extracting it and create a CD DVD Gen desktop icon.

First open DVD Decrypter and decrypt the .iso to your "Original ISO" folder. Insert the original God of War DVD into your DVD Burner, load up DVD Decryptor, go to Mode > ISO > and pick Read. Click on the brown folder under "Destination" in DVD Decryptor and save it to your "Original ISO" folder.

A complete .iso of 7.97 or 7.93 gb is what you need to
extract both layers.

You have to use apache 2 to extract both layers.
The files must be placed together and fully
extracted (not in .iso form).

(Iso-buster will not work as it wont extract the
second layer.

Extract both layers of the DVD9 into the same directory.

To do this start Apache 2, go to File > Load File, and load the God of War ISO from your "Original ISO" folder. You can change which layer you want to extract by right-clicking the ISO in the left column (of Apache 2) and selecting "switch layers".

Highlight the ISO in the left column, right-click it then pick extract. Extract these files to your "GOW" folder. After it's done extracting, right-click the ISO in the left column again, pick switch layers and extract it again into the "GOW" folder.

You should have 16 files totaling 7.97 (or 7.93) GB in your "GOW" folder.

Run the "God of War Tool" click browse, select the GODOFWAR.TOC file from your "GOW" folder and click extract button.

Extraction will take about 15 minutes.

This will create a NEW folder called "Extracted" which will contain all of your extracted files created using "God of War Tool".
I think this folder will be created in your "God of War" folder or your "GOW" folder.

Run a search on your PC. Do this by clicking "Start" on your control panel then "Search". Search "all files and folders" for "Command Prompt". When a command prompt shows in the search result column, copy and paste it into your "Extracted" folder.

To make a working DVD5 backup, you will need to delete all files with the extension *.PSW and delete all the BONUS*.PSS files too. That should leave you with a folder size of about 3.47 GB (3.5 GB).

The easiest way to do this is by using a command prompt. Open up your "Extracted" folder, start the "Command Prompt" then minimize it.

In your "Extracted" folder, right-click a blank area (not a file), go to "Properties", and copy the entire link next to "Location" begining with "C:\". Maximize command prompt, type "cd", press spacebar, and paste the link. Press "\" and type "Extracted\". Then press enter.

Your new directory should look something like this: "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\God of War\\GOW\Extracted\".

- Type "dir *.PSW". This will list all .PSW files in your Extracted folder. Find and delete those files in your Extracted folder then retype "dir *.PSW" again to make sure you've deleted them all.

- Type "dir *.PSS". This will list all .PSS files in your Extracted folder. Find and only delete all "BONUS.PSS" files in your Extracted folder.

Run the "God of War Tool" again, select the GODOFWAR.TOC from your "GOW" folder and click the "Rebuild" button.

This may take about 10 minutes.

After a while the Relink Screen will popup, first, click the 'Auto-Relink Dupes' button at the bottom and that will take care of most of the relinking.. the rest of relinking needs to be done manually.

You will need to relink all the *.PSW files to their *.PSS counterparts.

Here's an example:

In the left column find the file A01P01.PSW and left click it to highlight it, then in the right column find the file A01P01.PSS and left click it as well. Only these two files should be highlighted. Click the "Relink" button at the bottom. Only the .PSW file in the left column will dissappear.

Do not touch the BONUS.PSS files yet. Link all of the .PSW files in the left column with their .PSS counterpart in the right column.
Do not link two files together in the same column.

Relink all the missing BONUS*.PSS (in the left column) with any .PSS files in the right column.

You will get a message telling you that all files have been linked when you're done. You can close "God of War Tool" now.

You will now have 2 new files in the "GOW" folder called:

GODOFWAR.TOC_NEW and PART1.PAK_NEW

Delete the original PART1.PAK, PART2.PAK and GODOFWAR.TOC files in your "GOW" folder.

And rename GODOFWAR.TOC_NEW to GODOFWAR.TOC then rename PART1.PAK_NEW to PART1.PAK.

Delete the 'Extracted' folder. You no longer have any need of it or the files in it. Create a folder on your desktop called "GOW_IML".

1) Open up CD DVD Gen. The icon should be on your desktop.

2) Select "Create New Project" and then select "DVD-ROM Master Disc". Drag CD DVD Gen to the left of your screen.

3) Open your "GOW" folder and move it to the right side of your screen.

4) Select all the files in your "GOW" folder and drag them into the right side of CD DVD Gen. Drag them into the section that
says "File Name, Size, Last Modified, and Sector Size".

5) Look for a "SLUS, SLES, or SCUS" file under "File Name" in CD DVD Gen and write down the full name. Click on the "Volume" tab in the upper left corner of CD DVD Gen.

6) Type "SLUS, SLES, or SCUS" whichever your file name is into the first box near "Disc Name".

7) Type all of the numbers from your "SLUS, SLES, or SCUS" file name into the second box without the period.

8) Type "PLAYSTATION" for the producer name and select the appropriate license area (United States, Canada, etc).

9) Click on "Record" or "REC".

10) Save it to your "GOW_IML" folder on your desktop. IMPORTANT >> YOU WILL GET TWO ERROR MESSAGES. Just click "OK" for both.

IMPORTANT:

If you get one error message, then you have to download ?WNASPI32.DLL? and put it in your windows system 32 folder. It's quick and easy. File size is only 160 KB. Get it here: http://www.Nero.com/us/WNASPI32.DLL.html

11) The recording screen will pop up, click on File then Export Image and save it to your desktop not in a folder. Name it gow.LST.

12) When it's done you will have four files on your desktop called: gow.000, gow.001, gow.002, and gow.003. You don't need these, just delete them after you're done with everything.

13) Open "Apache 2". Go to "File" then "Import IML File", find your "GOW_IML" folder on your desktop and pick the gow.IML file.

14) In Apache 2 go to "File" and pick "Build ISO". Name the file "God of War" and save it to your desktop.

15) When it's done, insert a blank DVD-R into your DVD Burner, load up DVD Decryptor, go to Mode > ISO > then pick Write. Go to "File" then "Browse" and load the "God of War" ISO from your desktop. To start burning, click on the pic of a hard drive pointing to a DVD in DVD Decryptor.

I take no credit in this as it should all go to
SONIX.

Keep up the good work.

Killer Walk threw and it helped alot and I understood everything except for the BONUS MOVIE.PSS file part on the rebuild. It said to add these__14 of them by the way to the .PSS files that had not been used, but it looked like to me that they all had been used, so I chose some that I thought hadn't been used yet. Also right at the last of that tuturial, it said to open CD\DVD GENERATOR and put in your SCUS and the numbers and PLAYSTATION and then US or werever you're from and then hit the record button. Well, I did and it gave me an error message which said ASPI MANAGER FAILED, but I did get an LTS and an IML file on the GOW_IML folder. So, I just went on down and opened APACHE 2 and chose import IML and browsed to my desktop and found and built my ISO and it was 3.47 GIG'S, so I then chose to open DVD DECRYPTER and am in the process of burning this ISO as I type this, maybe it'll work, but if it doesn't, I think that I have 2 culprits that might cause not to work. First one being the BONUS MOVIE.PSS FILES that I relink to other .PSS files not knowing if they'd been used or not. Second one being this CD\DVD GEN ASPI MANAGER FAILED ordeal. Because I didn't get the g000 or g001 or g002 and g003 like it said I would, but then it said you'd delete them anyway, so does it matter or am I making a DVD-R CUP HOLDER right now. ANYONE FAILED TO MENTION WHAT BURNER I HAD--ITS A POINEER DVR 105 I got a patch for DVD GENERATOR, BUT NOT REALLY SURE ON THE PROPER WAY TO GET IT TO WORK.

It said to add these__14 of them by the way to the .PSS files that had not been used, but it looked like to me that they all had been used, so I chose some that I thought hadn't been used yet.<<<

That shouldn't be a problem.

> >>Also right at the last of that tuturial, it said to open CD\DVD GENERATOR and put in your SCUS and the numbers and PLAYSTATION and then US or werever you're from and then hit the record button. Well, I did and it gave me an error message which said ASPI MANAGER FAILED...<<<

Yes, your file size should be 3.47 GB which rounds to 3.5 GB.

>>>...so I then chose to open DVD DECRYPTER and am in the process of burning this ISO as I type this, maybe it'll work...<<<

Make sure "Test Write" is not checked in DVD Decryptor.

>>>...I didn't get the g000 or g001 or g002 and g003 like it said I would...<<<

That's because you only got one error message. If you get one error message, then you have to download ?WNASPI32.DLL? and put it in your windows system 32 folder.

>>>...but then it said you'd delete them anyway...<<<

Yeah, but you should get them if you did it right.

>>>ANYONE FAILED TO MENTION WHAT BURNER I HAD--ITS A POINEER DVR 105 I got a patch for DVD GENERATOR, BUT NOT REALLY SURE ON THE PROPER WAY TO GET IT TO WORK.<<<

It should still work.

Guess what, it still worked even though I didn't get the g000 threw g004 files. It let's me save games as well. So, far so good. Thanks for the walk through. I'd upload my ISO image to anyone that wanted it if I had my BROADBAND CONNECTION STILL. My neighbor has broadband and would probably let me use it if you had a place I could send it to you guys. It's working great for me with no probs so far. I'm all the way in the ATHENS part now, a pretty good ways into the game. EXCELLENT FORUM--THANKS TO ALL. That error message about the ASPI MANAGER must not have mattered because I do have the WNASPI32.DLL in my system 32 folder because I've got Nero 6.6.0.5 and no problem with DVD Decrypter loading it to my RITEK DVD-R 1-4x discs. You can get these blank discs for pretty cheap at www.shop4tech.com

Relink all the missing BONUS*.PSS (in the left column) with any other .PSS file in the right column. But don't link them to a file that's already been linked. There are plenty of free .PSS files in the right column to link to.

I do not have free .PSS files on the right side,

Someone please help, ill just leave the program open for now.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Also, When I am doing this, do the BONUS.PSS files have to go to just 1 of the .PSS files on the right? or all seperate .PSS files for every seperate BONUS.PSS file.

Thanks in advance
