ummm..... that would be a torrent. not a link.
you need a bittorrent, and you need to search for it.

I've tried the GT4 ripkit tutorial and it doesn't work for me
Does anybody else have a better way of backing up GT4 ?

Have you got a finished copy of your GT4 , if so does it start at all ? Is your PS2 modded ?

It would be cool if afterdawn had attachments or hosted ps2 files since most of these stickied/pinned tutorials have dead links and sometimes google will not bring the exact version or copy of whatever the guides ask to be used :p

Hi oziwombat
I don't have a finished copy of GT4. I tried the tutorials mentioned before but the software and the method both failed.
My ps2 is modded.
What we need is a far simplar and more reliable method to back this game up.

Hi hm1
Sorry man , I am not an expert on this as I have only done one rip so far & I too had heaps of problems doing the GT4 rip . Go back to the start of this thread & I am sure you will find a way to make it work . One thing that caught me out when I got a finished copy , it froze up @ the Polyphony screen because it was trying to play an intro movie that was no longer there. if you do work it out, Best to start the memory card on your orig GT4 go to options & turn off intro movie.

Hi oziwombat
I think that GT4 is just too big a game and just too complex to back up.
I've backed up all of my ps2 games but this game is just a hassle

And what does that have to do with shrinking a DVD-9 game to fit on a DVD-5?? Yes Decrypter is an awesome burning app, but that is COMPLETELY irrelevant to this thread.

after you rip the iso, check if it is less than 4.7GB.
less than 4.5 would be best.
if it is, then you can burn it as it is, IF THERE ARE NO DUMMY FILES
you DO NOT have to compress the data if you use a modchip that
supports dual-layer. just burn to a dual layer disc.
or, if you have a modchip that doesn't support dual layer, or if you
are using a swap disc, and still want to use dual layer media,
after dummy files are fixed, and you have a new image file,
PATCH IT WITH THIS HANDY TOOL called TOXIC DUAL LAYER PATCHER:
http://www.teamtoxic.com.cn/downloads/To...atcher-v1.0.zip
it is at the very bottom of this page:
http://www.teamtoxic.com.cn/
team toxic makes a 3rd party BIOS for DMS3 and DMS4 modchips for
playstation 2, and they are the ones that made those chips capable
of booting DVD-DL (DVD-9).
They made the patcher for everyone else!

this is a little off-subject. I just finished modding my ps2 with a DMS4 PRO SE, and I would like to know if anyone knows if it is possible to FTTP (transfer files from PC to PS2 hard drive).
and if so, what .elf/.exe(on pc side) do i use?
thanks!

hey every one
i have tried to rebuild a game using Gnie's ExPERT v1.03, and i followed alkohol's guide, it extracts the LBA fine, but when i go to extract the file it gets stuck on 3%, btw the game is Splinter Cell:Double Agent (i know that you dont need to rebuild it because it is only 2.74gb, but Decrypter doesnt get rid of the new protection. So gnie was recommended) has anybody else had this problem, if so please respond?! :(

dood..if you continue to have problems,
then rip the image with DVD Decrypter,
then use iso buster to extract files from disc,
then you have to find the dummy files, change their extension to .txt, go in and erase EVERYTHING, and type a space, save them, rename their extension like they used to be,
then use the ps2 program that makes .bin and .cue image files, and drop all the files in the same order that iso buster says the files are

S73VIE: for downsampling, you can use the Gran Turismo4 tools that are in this thread. As far as I knew, I thought GT4 was the only game that required downsampling.
If you try to shrink the iso to belo 4.5gb, and it still doesn't work, then download all of the GT4 tools, _and_ the PDF that has the instructions of how to use it, and you can use those instructions, but just use your game in the place of GT4.

Hi all
The GT4 rip kit just doesn't seem to be a winner.
I am grateful for the help but it seems to be more miss than hit.
We need a new improved method
Again, has anybody backed up and played a Dual layer -R DVD disc on the PS2 yet ?
