Hi,
I followed this guide and backup up Gran Turismo 4, unfortunately, the video at the starting of the game now has no audio. Can someone help, and let me know how I can fix this problem possibly?

Regards,
DiRect

Knowledge is imminent...

Hi Aryma,
Yeah, the links have been down for a while. You can get Apache from the ?Sonix GT4 kit? HERE. http://www.alucard.cc/forums/?module=Downloads;sa=dlview;id=2461 (just register for free on the forum)
But I don't know about the xeno ripkit. I've only done a GT4 copy, and I can't remember using it.

Actually that same forum website listed for Apache has the link you are after too. It's a little hard to find but one of the forum thread gives it, just make a search on "xenosaga" and check the different threads.

I have managed to find the programs to rebuild xenosaga.

But my problem is now, that when i do the steps with the "ripkit" it can't make the three ISOs with the right sizes.

First the 3 ISOs were about 4GB, and the second time that i tried it the 3 files were about 1.5GB

Can anyone help me out please, i don't know what i have to do, I followed the instructions on page 16 but it's just like the ripkit is unable to do it right.

But, I guess that the downsampling isn't required if you use a dual layer DVD+R. I plan to use a DVD+R DL from Verbatim, would there be any extra work than to just copy it like you would a single layer disc game?

before you go spending money on a dvd-dl, check whatever boot method you use. swap disk/ mod chip, whatever, look up that item's model online and check if it authenticates dvd-dl-r (or whatever acronym they use).

because the playstation is pre-programmed to understand dvd, dvd dual layer, cd, playstation cd, and playstation2 cd.

dvd-r and cd-r are functions added to the playstation when you use a modchip or swapdisc... not sure about dual layers.

I have the DMS 4 SE PRO modchip, on a V14 slimline PSTwo. It has full auto-boot of all medias. That must include DVD+R DL, mustn't it?

NO. I just checked the manufacturer's website:

http://www.dms3.com/cgi-bin/dms4/site.pl...s4_professional

Read the part under
"Auto-detect and boot of all media types"

DMS4 will automatically detect whether a PS1, PS2 CD-R, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD9 or DVD+RW (Homebrew Elf's), original domestic CD/DVD is inserted and then boot it without any interaction from the user.
DVD9, that's Dual Layer. But, then "Homebrew" is right beside it, so, I'm guessing that it only supports DVD9 if there's homebrew elf's on it? Now I'm really confused. :oS

you are correct, good research. However, it says that it will
boot and authenticate DVD-9 or DVD-R, but it DOES NOT say that
it will boot DVD-9R. there IS a difference. ANY game original
that is printed on a dual-layer disc (bigger than 4.7gb) WILL
be on a ORIGINAL DVD-9.

your question is if it will authenticate a DVD-9R (a dual layer
recordable DVD)

that's the difference. go ahead and send DMS an email and ask
them. i did. maybe they'll tell you something different.

Ahh'. Well, in that case, it might just be less complicated if I follow the guide and down sample Gran Turismo 4 to a single layer DVD+R. Besides, if I just down sample GT4 to a single layer, I won't need to spend extra money for a pack of DVD+9R just to backup GT4 and Xenosaga.

true that!
(i agree)

the only drawback (that i've seen in this thread) from downsampling
gt4 is that the movies don't play right in hd (high defition),
but if you OWN the game, doesn't matter. use the original if you want the hd.. i've read in this thread that the movies play right on normal
tv settings, but only half the screen shows up in hd.

but the rest of the game plays normal!

Sorry man, but not all mod chips can read this no matter what you do.My son has a Modbo 2.1 in his V9 & it cannot read my Sonix GT4 backup.[stops same place as yours] If it was freezing at the Polyphony screen I would say it is trying to play the intro movie and to press the X button as soon as you see the white screen. Try your backup in another PS2 if you can. Have since copied my GT4 Mem card to my sons V9[Modbo 2.1]& game works fine I would suggest anyone having problems with the Sonix GT4 DVD5 rip that they use the original game to start off their memory card , go to options & turn the intro movie off.

ok.. not sure exactly what you are saying. is the original freezing?
if so, check for scratches.

if the copy is freezing, check the busted image of the original (original made into a disc image on your computer, then split into files) for a dummy file.

for help, use google.com to search for "ps2 copy dummy file" without quotes

Hi All. Can someone please send a link for a valid, non-corrupted ripkit for Xenosaga 1(3 DVD disc)? The only d/load I can find (alucard) has a "corrupt header" Thanks in advance.
