Yes you can. You need a program called Winhiip or HDLDumb: http://www.exploitstation.com/index.php?page=downloads

@i_suck

What model is your EMPREX? In order for me to help you better, I need to know what's your model first (ie mine is SONY DRU710A). That way, you'll need to update to the most current firmware for media compatibility and burning performances and or "book type" supported.

Hey Alky, off topic but I could use your input. This scan just further demonstrates my burner doesn't support C2/PIF scans, correct? I'm not trying to hijack the thread, this thread is definitely still about GT4, I just needed some advice. Thanks.

Well it doesn't say it supports Booktype/Bitsetting, so I doubt it. I've never heard of Emprex drives. Does it allow you to change the booktype setting say in Nero or DVD Decrypter.

53. Q. What is Booktyping?
A. Booktyping is the ability to burn a DVD+R so it that appears as a pressed DVD-ROM in any DVD-ROM drive it's inserted in. If you booktype DVD+R's, this allows for greater compatibility with most stand alone DVD players, including your PS2. Your burner has to support booktyping (most newer ones do).

@Tokijin

Unfortunately and sad but true I'll have to say, it still doesn't supported. It only has Jitter and PIE on the graph - for some reason I don't know why it doesn't support your drive. You can try to "google/search" for a modified/hacked firmware" to see if it will help.
Do you have the lastest firmware by chance? Have you tried Kprobe? It has a media scanning for quality and crc errors just like Nero CD-DVD Speed and DVDInfo Pro. Here is a link to K-probe's scanning utililty http://www.k-probe.com/download-kprobe-k-probe.php

I think you can actually use the k-probe utility to book type too, if your drive is supported on their list. It actually does support my SONY DRU710A once I click on the Lite-On.

Yeah that's what I figured, oh well. Thanks for verifying it. I'll try the K-probe deal. The only way I know to definitely unlock C2/PIF scans is cross flashing it with BenQ firmware. That's a definite no no, since it's my only DVD Burner. It's not that important. Like some other peeps in the CMC Mag thread, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I couldn't agree more. Keep up the good work!

Your latest firmware is A190, that's all I could find. Here http://www.emprex.com/03_support_02.php?group=57&kind=1 -- once you get there, scroll down and click on IDEPELMDU1016A190.EXE, that's the zip file of your burner's firmware.

After you've run and updated the firmware, try to set the "book type" or "bitsettings" via Nero to see if you'll see a success. Without knowing what could be a rebadged of your drive, it's hard to do/book type it with DVD Decrypter.

Like mine, I can just use the "Lite-On" and it's a success. Until you find out what brand is your rebadged, now all we can do is update your firmware to the latest that's all.

You're welcome.

@Tokijin

xenosaga updated:

Disc 1 & Disc 2 won't boot, it only gets to the sony logo then black screen, no go (basically useless) because it's ripkit is basically garbage (not enough info whatsoever). Will see what's up, I've already wasted 2 of my Hitachi Maxell and 2 YUDEN000T02. Damn, I wish I would have taken more computer class back then. Shit Xeno is not a joke, that's all I can say.

Yeah I didn't think it would be easy. I don't like wasting media either. The copy I made doesn't work well either. It took like 2 hours just to get a usable image with Alcohol 120%. The original just was scratched too badly to get a perfect working backup. It skips during cut scenes. Then again, the original wouldn't even start a new game it was so badly scratched. It'll be tough if the rip kit sucks. What about Gnie's PSS downsampling tool? Is that a no go as well? Good Luck Alkohol, you can do it. If all else fails there have to be torrents for a version that's already been rebuilt to DVD-5.

I have some problems with GT4? My backup freeze in the opening screen. Here is what I think the problem could be.

I don't have the layer0 and layer1 folders.
Or could the media be the problem. I'm using tdk discs.

Hey whats happenin, im a noob to this forum, but not to data trasfer and such. Heres my question:

I downloaded the FFXII Demo the other day and it was only 352mb or something, which i found odd, but let go since it was only a demo. it wasnt in a rar file, just a normal folder from a torrent. I knew that i had to turn into an ISO. file to transfer it to my PS2, so with much difficulty, i managed to convert the e-ffxiid.001(to.008) files into one big iso. file which was still only 352mb. I transferred it onto my PS2 HDD via network cable using HL Dump, but the file didn't play! All i got was a black screen, which ever mode i used. Is this a flaw in the software, (i'm using HD Advance 3.0 PAL version) or my own flaw? Is there something i can do to rectify this problem? Thanx, Ash.

P.S. Torrents are slow, Dragon Quest VIII been downloading for 2 weeks now for about 12 hours a day and still only done 3.46%... lol

I believe those files (GT4.VOL & GT4L1.VOL) is a little off, unless you have the PAL version instead. Here is an example of mine (GT4 US version NTSC).

**NOTE: this is when APACHE 3 is completed extracing all of the files, including both layers (GT4.VOL & GT4L1.VOL).

**NOTE: this is the final ISO, after rebuilt and down sampling, GT4L1.VOL is much smaller now.

C'mon, it was on the previous page.

I don't suppose your nick is a refernce to Janos Audron from the Soul Reaver series is it? Just curious. He uploaded IML2ISO v4. http://s37.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1SFQ0CFVJ6AOK35CXS8UGGAVJM Download it now while you can. I'll submit it to SKS Apps. The rest of the stuff is relatively easy to find, you just need to search a little. You could've found it all in a couple minutes:

DVD Decrypter (Thanks to Paddymail for the links): http://teammodders.com/download.php?action=file&file_id=1

Instructions to Gnie's Tool ExPERT:

Download it and then follow these instrcutions and it will work.

1. select Shrinker_ps2_psp_CdDvd5_iso.epi on the plugins list.
2. Select the iso.
3. Click extract LBA
4. Click extract file
5. Click rebuild file
6. Click rebuild lba.

Make sure you do it in that order.

IML2ISO v.4 (I uploaded it again, you've got a week) : http://s6.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=24TKDG2VGJE370XK9XADVP8CGO

@DjAshV Are you sure it wasn't a rar file? I downloaded the FFXII demo as well, and it was a 352MB rar file. The iso was 1.3GB's or so decompressed.
