Because everytime you open and close the disc tray it initiates a copy protection check to make sure the game inserted is an original. Swap Magic and modchips fool the PS2 into thinking the game inserted is an original. A modchip is hard wired into the mother board, Swap Magic is a boot CD that gets around the copy protection check with a flip top, slide card, or slim tool. What do all those things have in common? Simple all of them circumvent the copy protection check every time the disc tray is opened and closed.

Yes. I use crappy Memosux CD-R's. They're horrible, but I don't care about quality media for audio CD's. I have a bunch of PSX games backed up on Memosux, It'd be a cold day in hell before I use those before copying them to better media. Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim also make high quality CD-R media.

Yeah I just don't plan to use Memosux for my PSX/PS2-CD ROM games. The crappy CMC Mag dyes will speed my laser's descent to Davbere.

Hey letmein, I know you got a short answer, believe me it's not like that, it wasn't meant that way, most people here at AD are great, if you can't get any help on this forum believe me there are plenty out there that will, I believe there's one called p2p something you will find plenty of help there, don't be discouraged and never stop trying.

I know ty's are the best either for dvd or cd, but is there a differnce on what kind of ty cd media to get like for music only or doesn't it really make a differnce, reason I asked is some cd's you see for sale will say for music and some say data, that's the reason for my question, or does it really not matter?

Well a blank CD-R can be used for data, video, or audio. I use the same CD-R's for music, PSX/PS2 CD-ROM games, and VCD's.

Verb's should work fine. They're exceptions to the "Taiwan Rule." Sony DVD+R's made in Taiwan/Japan are also good quality. I've switched to these over RitekG05 recently for backing up movies. I still use TY's for PS2 games.

They should work fine for PS2 backups. I've burned three so far, and the Nero CD/DVD Scans have been excellent.

Would booktyping DVD+R be the best way to burn. Or is burning onto DVD-R just as good.
Is there any way to booktype with ClonCD.

Generally it's better to use quality DVD-R's like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim with PS2 games. DVD-R's are more compatible with all versions' of PS2. If you've already bougth DVD+R's, then booktype them.

53. Q. What is Booktyping?
A. Booktyping is the ability to burn a DVD+R so it that appears as a pressed DVD-ROM in any DVD-ROM drive it's inserted in. If you booktype DVD+R's, this allows for greater compatibility with most stand alone DVD players, including your PS2. Your burner has to support booktyping (most newer ones do).
