I've been watching this thread for weeks now as have many other people and now that your starting to talk about Tsg Systems Online here's my penny's worth.
I ordered 30 drives weeks ago when they were £12 something each. Well why not as they are selling for much more on ebay and it's just after Christmas when we all need the cash.
Eventually 10 arrive, then another few so there are some still outstanding, but there all H30N type. Tried one and of course it doesn't work, so I try another, but no same prob with Rawdump and Friidump. I contact Shayne who promises that they work with the software they used. He'll send out a disk, he says. 10 days later, I'm still waiting....
Has anyone else had this 'promise'?

So I also jumped into this market and ordered many many many hp gdr 6162b and 8163b. I am not advertising, but I am here to confirm that the HP drives work perfectly. Moreover, the difference between the 8163b and the 8162b is pretty big. It takes about an extra hour to rawdump an 8163b, as you can see from my screenshots (again, that's my ebay name, but I am not advertising here, I just made those pics for my ad):

So if you look at the read rate during ripping, you notice that the 8162b is much faster than the 8163b, and moreover, the final completion time is was shorter for the 2. I tested these drives using both ide cable and then usb to ide with no additional drivers. All tests were done on xp pro. Hope this helps!

Hi,
Yes a few of us here are the same... waiting for orders...
Have you paid for the lot?
Or give him a list of 'alternatives'
they might be able to source them.... ?
e.g. GDR-H10N Firmware 0b10 works i'm told...

Hi,
Wont bother reading all the pages so here´s my question right away.
I´m new at the Wii "scene" and am now wondering where I can find a nice chip for it (you need a chip to play whit "homemade" dvd´s? right)
Are there any tutorial for the installation of the chip?

Since you didn't bother reading you posted in the wrong thread. Check the stickies for a thread called Discussion thread for Wii Modchips - read that one.

Kevinlea,
your right, they don't work for wii dumping, but £12 for a New OEM
DVD Player isn't bad.....
They do go for £20 + P&P so you could liquidate your stock for more than you paid for it....
Its just a case of 'taking' a risk or not....
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?V...:MEWA:IT&ih=001
Seller was a bit 'dishonest' i.e. GRD-8164 upgrade...!

Had conversation with Shayne today and he is still promising a magical disc. I know the H30 doesn't work because I've tried it, so Monday here we come or they're going back.
I'll look at the ebay listing though as I only paid £12 each. With fees, etc, might make a fiver on each one.
Cheers
