any dvd burner can burn the wii games, if you want to rip your wii games then you need the "special" drives

What modchip do you have? If it is the D2CKey and you live in the UK you are probably trying to burn an Ntsc game instead of Pal, I had loads of coasters but now only download and burn Pal games no probs whatsoever.
Hope this helps

I have been searching this thread for hours and can't find an answer. I understand the proper Wii .iso image should be 4,699,979,776 bytes. Why does the image size when I go to recopy a backup show as 4,700,307,456 bytes? Also, I am using reliable TYG02 (Taiyo Yuden DVD-R 12X) to burn my iso's. I am encountering read errors on all of my discs at 99% and will not finish copying. The media is not defective as I have copied many video DVD's past the 4.7b bytes mark without errors. There must be something going wrong during the burn process. Has anyone encountered this 99% error?

From what I have read in this 80 page thread: You CANNOT make a copy from a copy/backed up game. You have to backup from the original game only..
Save mine to an external HD, that way I can burn as needed.

I recently discovered that, out of all the backup discs I made, I could recopy the one which was burnt with Imgburn. The others where all burnt with Nero7. Only the Imgburn disc retained its proper byte structure and was copy-able. Now to figure out why Nero burning changed its byte total and if there is any way to retrieve the data off of the Nero-burned images.

Okay so here's something I have discovered last night and excuse me lots if this has already been gone through or discovered....
Let's say you've got a few backups on disc but not on your hard drive, you think the only way to get them onto your HD is to buy an expensive (for the moment) LG drive and use Rawdump etc. You can use Img Burn to write your disc to your HD as an iso. I've tried this and it works as I then burned the new image to another disc (using Img burn) and tested okay.
Anyone else for comment?
Cheers

That is correct. My problem is that when I wrote my backups with Nero, the byte structure got larger. Imgburn gets stuck at 99% when copying back to the HD.

That is indeed correct... it's NOT possible to re dump a dumped game with Rawdump...
Wii + Wiikey = WiiFun :P

Just want to make sure I am understanding you all correctly..You can copy a copy if you use img burn. Does the "original" copy have to have been burned with image burn in order for that to work or do you just need to use img burn to read and write the copy. Thanks..

Hi you need Raw dump 2.0 to rip the game and a lg gdr 8163 8162 8161 8164 or 8165 to be able to rip games, then yes use img burn its the best because its free and its like 2mg if u r intrested in lg gdr drives i got them!

I can copy a copy from which the original ISO was burned with Imgburn. I can not copy a copy which was burned with Nero. Nero writes the original ISO (4,699,979,776 bytes) and completes the disc with 4,700,307,456 bytes. I don't know why Nero changes the number of bytes. The Nero-burned disc is still playable, just not copyable.
I use: Pioneer 109 burner and Taiyo Yuden (TYG02)discs. Hope that clarifies.

Sound like you can use any drive so long as you are making a copy of the "backedup" game tha was made using ImgBurn.

Guys I may be a little Lost here, but I can assure you I have copied a lot of my backups to other friends using NERO and DiscCopy, and they all work. After you rawdump them, you have a normal ISO that you can copy with whatever drive and whatever software you find.
I Have another problem though, I hope I'm not jumping out of the thread. Just have a couple of ISO's from PAL region and eventhough I have Region override on my Wiikey I dont know what is happening, because I can see the Games in the Disc Channel but when I hit Begin, a black screen comes, and stays there... nothing else happens. Does someone know about this... also used REGIONFRII to patch the game and had the same results. Anybody?

On the contrary, it is possible as I have done this and discovered I've wasted 2hrs each time doing it...... I should have discovered the Imgburn to ISO sooner. Ho hum

I have a PAL (Wii Console) with a D2CKey chip and have had a similar problem with the black screen comming up after you press start.
If my backed up game is (PAL) i do not use wii brick blocker or regionfrii, however if it is an (NTSC)- US or JAP- then i first us regionfrii to convert to (PAL). When i loaded the game the intro screen came up however when i pushed start it went to a black screen, so i chnged the TV setting from 50hz to 60hz in the wii setting menu- reloaded the game and it worked.
When that has failed i then patached it again with brickblocker and tried both tv settings again.
Good Luck..
