If your wii lets you run a wiikey update, does that mean you use wiikey?

If it doesn't say Error Check Connections, then usually yes.

If you do not run SMG, nothing happens. Running SMG just confirms that 1.9g is working.

As for 1.9s, that is normal ... that means that everything worked just fine.

Can you expand on this a little? So are you basically saying that my Wii doesn't accept Wiikeys?
Did you install your own WiiKey or did you have someone else install it? If you did it than open your case and the chip adjacent to where you installed the WiiKey will have a group of numbers/letters on it and the first 3 indicate what type of key you have, If the first 3 start with D2C than it is guaranteed that you will not be able to use the WiiKey.

I thought that they came in the files on the first page but I guess I was wrong, I must have gotten my original updates somewhere else.

File Chop comes with most of the 1.9 updates that are on the first page, it is included in the .rar files.
Could you help me out some? probably me just being really stupid but still cant find it. i opened a bunch of them and still cant find it.

Any help guys? :(
I need some advice on the above. I've already tried one whole day of recovery using plain recovery disc, just wana ensure I filechopped + GCOSed the recovery disc correctly and will not waste my today's effort using this.

Any help on the new symptom on the spitting out of disc besides just on and off the wii as suggested in earlier posts?

Yes, the size is correct!

All right, these are common experiences in this situation:

1):

Quote:
Ok I am having the same problem I have tried the recovery with multiple dvd-r's
TDK
SONY
Verbatim

Burnt with 1x and 4x

All with the same result

I put in twilight princess
wait for the disk to show up in the menu
I put in the recovery disk
wait 10 seconds and reset
I then wait for 3-5 minutes
power off
power on
eject disk
and try a backup.
No luck.

I have tried this several attempts with no luck.

Any ideas?
2):

Quote:
Same things happend to me...
discs were ejected like you said and nothing was read...
not even originals...
after very much nerves, i took apart my wii to learn that nothing is wrong with the chip wiring...
in order to fix your problem you have to do the following thing... I did it as a desperate measure before going to the mod shop and IT HELPED!

The only thing and eventually saved me was the recovery disc 1.9b...

NOW THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!!! YOU HAVE TO BURN IT ON DVD-R MEDIA!!! NOT +R NOT +RW...
I have not idea why is it like that, but its the only way you can fix the problem!!!

Follow the next steps:
1) burn recovery disc 1.9b on dvd-r media
2) put and original disc in the wii and turn it on
3) wait until it appears in channel
4) take it out and insert recovery disc
5) wait 10 seconds and reboot
6) now this is the most important step... system back up WAIT ATLEAST 3 mins.
7) dont touch anything, you'll see nothing happends and you'll hear nothing...
8) after 1.5 mins you'll hear the drive initialize
9) wait another 2 mins just in case
10) power off...

when you power on your wii should be ok....
3):

Quote:
Ok Just got it to work.

I pulled the plug
repluged it back in
inserted twilight princess
ejected
inserted recovery disk
waited 10 seconds
reset
waited 3 minutes
reset
ejected recovery disk
inserted backup game
success

1.9b recovery

4):

Quote:
OMG I ****ING LOVE YOU MAN! My Wiikey works again after doing this!

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!

I hope this helps you!

can someone give tell me how or give me link to show me how to use WiiUI? i mean on page one here sends me to link to DL it and i do. all thats in the rar is folder labeled roms, Executable named WiiUI and a read me that says what it is but not how to use. page one says

1) Under GCOS Disc Maker select the correct REGION for your system

i have no idea what that means. i mean when ever i run the executable says "Component 'comdlg32.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a fill is missing or invalid" since thats step one to doing this im stuck i have no clue and starting to get really frustrated.

I wouldn't hold your breath... It's not something many have tried because it doesn't work anywhere near as well as a normanl DVD player and thus it's not common knowledge. If it was good loads of ppl would be doing it and they aren't ;)

1) Start WiiUI (If you get an error and the program does not start, then, probably, you need to install the .NET framework)

2) Make sure you can see the GCOS Disc Maker section (Otherwise, depending on the version you have, elect it from the tools menu)

3) Where it says ISO Region, chose the Regiojn of you Wii console.

4) Where it says Number of Games select the number of images you will include on the disc.

5) Let's assume for sake of argument, that you are making a GCOS version of the Config 1.9 disc, then you would select 1 Game Image (Foe a GCOS disc to work, the image(s) you include will need to be filechopped or at least 1.35GB in size)

6) Click on CREATE DISC. You will get one OPEN windoe (or more if you include more than one image on the disc). In the OPEN window(s) select the image you want to include on the disc. Then you will get a SAVE window. In the SAVE window choose the location and file name for the GCOS image you are creating and you will burn.

THE END!

The main problem is that, as you can see from all the posts involving problems with the mechanics and/or the optics of the dvd drive, the Wii's drive is very 'delicate' and the 'strain' of playing Movie Dvds could prove 'fatal' for the drive.

Looks like a clone chip. If you look next to point R3, it should be B10, but yours is 01B.

Right, it is upside down, but even if you turned it rightside up, you would see that the letters are backwards, thus being 01B and not B10 as it should be.
