XMB is the psp menue.

When you say you check 3.90 did you do the 3.90 M33 or 3.90 M33-2?

You have to install M33 first then go back to mux and do the update for M33-2 then install that.

That's why I originally had that problem, I did the update thing for both in mux at the same time then tried installing.

That's why I originally had that problem, I did the update thing for both in mux at the same time then tried installing.

at the time of 1st try, I did have M33-2 for cfw 3.71-M33-2 and it did not work in either kernal mode. It kept prompting for download cause no 390.pbp found.

I since did it manually to 3.90-M33 via an installer I got from PSP hacks and it workd fine, and now I did go to the Mux menue to select the 3.90-M33-2 and it took.

Other strange since the 1st try, I cannot get the OS Battery Tool or pandora's Battery Creater to load in my new SLIM since the 1st 3.71-M33-2 unbricking. I had to use my FAT to copy and revert back to normal battery/ Is this something to do with magic stick install gone wrong or flash to slime gone wrong. THe only thing I know I didnt do is run the 1.5 add on for my FAT, is that need and for what exactlly? It gave a warning about erasing my Remote Play or some settings. Can I just put them back or I ca no longer use it under the patched 3.90-M33 plus 1.5 add on?

Other then that they are both working now (my FAT is on the M33 not the -2 yet)

Thanx!

EDIT: I'm only asking cause I wanna give this as a gift to my brother who has no other mans to service on his own. So will he need not have a always on Pandora's battery and magic Stick for furture servie? If so can I mod him my extra slim battery for purpose?

I bet what KiddGrimm said is what you did wrong.

You probably tired installing the 3.90 M33-2 first instead of doing 3.90 M33 first then 3.90 m33-2 next.

As for your Pandora Battery issue with your PSP SLIM. Some newer SLIM PSP's have had a hardware modification (Motherboard) which patches the creating of Pandora Battery. This might be the issue your having and why the OS Battery tool will not work on your PSP.

You can still use a Pandora Battery on the new SLIM PSP's but you can not use them to create a Pandora Battery.

Yes, I may have done just that. I thought you meant I just needed M33 of any version from any cfw to run. So I guess the manual installer only worked cause I had the file and was only upgrading to 3.90-M33.

As for the Pandora's Battery, since this may be the case of my newer slim, (hopefully my BattleFornt edition will do it @ over 3 months old) do I need to convert back to normal mode in my FAT from now on since I cant run the OS app? Or is it best to just leave a spare FAT battery converted to service mode from now on?

Now that I'm upto date, any good links to cool apps since 2.7x cfw? Are the slims better at loading Linux for PSP? Oh ya, my PSP Radio (3. kernal) works, I like it better then the new Sony official version for right now.

Use Chilly Willy Key Cleaner (KeyCleaner-v1.4.zip) which you can get HERE.

Run it and unpatch key 5 then try doing the update.

Ok, unbricked psp, which goes, 1.5 downgrader, 3.40 0e-a then 3.52 m33 update then update 4 m33.. just ran chilly willy and it says checking key 0x0005.... failed! readkey returned code 0xffffffff. when ive done this b4 ive fixed this key, ive tried numerous ways of updating cfw but all end up brick for some reason, with usual message idstorage not correct etc, or the update starting then saying configuration settings are corrupt...

Enuf with all the back to back post and all the quoting. It makes it harder to read when you put your response/new question in the quote function.
Use the edit function instead

Is it normal, that when i'm installing this 3.90 1 stop update, i have to go over license aggrement of 3.90 FW; it looks to me, like I will install the offical firmware and i'm affraid, i wont have homebrew capability anymore as on 3.52 m33-4 (currently installed).

Any one know if there's anywhere else to download the files? The server hosting them has been down for hours.

Thanks nemesees - downloading em right now.

Very much appreciated.

The original server is back up now btw. Doesn't hurt to have two sources though.

Thank you Larrylje for this great guide and compilation of updates. The instructions are about as easy to follow as it is ever going to be. No stumbling blocks; it worked like a charm.

For those of you having trouble with this guide, I have only one piece of advice: "when all else fails, read the instructions." ;)

Thanks Larrylje - awesome guide, worked great for me.

One question - what files can I delete off my memory stick after everything has been installed? I want to free up some space.

Thanks

I have been trying for hours to find a solution to this problem for hours, but I don't think I will unless I ask. I have seen on a lot of threads on a lot of forums that people have been getting the error message "game could not be started (80010002). I have tried so many things that people say will fix this, but none seem to help me. I am running 3.80 M33 and am trying to upgrade to 3.90 M33. I have made sure the kernal is set to 3.80, and tried it on 1.50. I have also made sure the NO-UMD setting is on, but that didn't help either. If there is something stupid that I have missed then I'm sorry, but I need help with this.
