First I need to know what type of modchip you have installed, to know if I can help you out or not.
The reason my AR MAX EVO may not work is it was designed for swap magic, although it should work on a modded system.
You just have to choose the tv type I beleive, not sure though, and its best burned to a DVD not a CD.

I am sry but i dont know what chip i have. It wasnt me who done it. But i go action replay goin but when i try to copy save games to memory card it doesnt see any on my flASH DRIVE. Am i doing something wrong.
?!?

Does the PS2 recognize your usb flash. I always format it first as NTFS on the computer, then I use the usbextreme software to format it as FAT32.
UsbExtreme Windows mode in case you don't have the software.

yes it does but i got one save on but it isnt what i want. And i put another one on and it doesnt come up on final fantasy 12. :( Do i need to do something to the saves to turn them into PAL format?

Usually the difference of game saves is US versions, JP and
EU versions.
As you can see on this page here, there are north america, japan, and europe saves as you scroll down.
Now you can either download which one you want, then use PS2savebuilder to extract them to folders, and copy them.
OR
Region of the game save:
It IS possible to use game saves from different regions, what you need to do is to change this file "BESCES-51719GAMEDATA" (again, going back to my GT4 example) to match with the same game from a different region.
Using a different game as example (Kingdom Hearts 2), the Japanese version is "BISLPM-66233-01" and the US version is "BASLUS-21005-07". If you want to use the Japanese save on the US game, you'd need to rename "BISLPM-66233-01" to "BASLUS-21005-07", save this change, then save the whole thing to a folder called "BASLUS-21005-07"
Basically you need to know what your version is called and rename the file.

Ok i just want cheats or some kinda thing to help me out in final fantasy 12. But when i got to load the game when the cheats are enabled from action replay max it says make sure u have entered a disc. Cause mine is copyed probly. :(

im having a problem creating an elf bootable disk,i follow the step posted in page 1 but the screen just go black... i downloaded ulaunchelf 4.12. my ps 2 is model 10000 and it is modded to read burned disk but i dont know wat mod is it... i even download armax-evo software and burned it on cd-r and still it doesnt work...can somebody help me...thankz

Ok, call me dumb, thick, stupid & etc., but I dlded the dvd pack from smoky´s rapidshare link as well as the ulaunchelf 4.12 (also from his page) and I still can´t get it to work.
Here´s what I´ve done:
My PS2 is a ps2 slim scph-77001 modded with matrix infinity 1.93.
The DVD link by smoky gave me an iso, but it didn´t contain the files of the ulaunch itself, so I first unpacked the archive, put it into cdgenps2, unpacked the ulaunchelf 4.12, put it into cdgenps2 as well and made 1 iso out of all the archives, which I then burned with Nero onto a DVD-R. My ps2 just displays the message "this disc cannot be read".
I tried to edit the system.cnf that came with smoky´s dvd bundle, renaming the first line of the archive with boot.elf instead of the other thing that was present. Also didn´t work. I haven´t tried to burn anything to a cdr, maybe that´s where I´m wrong. Ok, can anyone give me a hand on this? Thanks

Thanks, man! I´ll give the 4.08cd version a try. All I have to do is burn the iso, right?
Is there any way to boot from usb directly, as my modchip allows dev1 and dev2 boot? I mean, before using ulaunchelf?

Yes you just need to burn the ISO is all.
With a modded ps2 I am not quite sure of the procedure to put elf on usb and run it. Not sure if you need to do the memory exploit first or not. I am sure there is a tutorial somewhere for it.
For me I just had to extract the ISO to my SWAPMAGIC folder on the usb drive.
I then run the ulaunch elf cd off my usb drive using Swap Magic, I just renamed my ulaunch.elf to SMBOOT1, then select that when Swap Magic boots up.

Smoky, you rule! Got it to work now! Just burned the image using burnatonce on a cdr and it worked perfectly, recognised my pendrive and all. Ok, just one last thing: is there any program that can play DivX and mp3 directly from the pendrive? I´ve messed around with sms for a bit, and it seems to play only from the cd/dvd inserted.

I have a problem, i have a Modified PS2. Creating a bootdisk and the transferring of files using ULaunchElf was fast and easy. My problem is how to save the ps2 game saves from my thumb drive to my computer. Some game saves could be transferred but my GTA LCS Game save, they cant be moved or copied. Maybe i think its because there's a file name like "1: The Sicilian Gambit", you cant create a filename in windows with ":" right? So is it ok if i just rename the file? but another problem if i renamed it, how am i suppose to rename it back with a ":" on the file name on my flash disk. that could be hard.. Any Ideas guys? tnx...

HI I have a game save for hack gu 1 and want to use it to play hack gu 2 without finishing the whole game myself. the File is in cbs format (codebreaker). I tried to open it with PS2 save builder but it seems it supports "only" psu, npo, spo, sps, p2m, XPO and xps files...what I need to do to convert a CBS file to a max file? I have max evo...

PS2 Savebuilder supports .cbs files. It should open it fine. Do you get an error message when loading a cbs file. It will not support .cbc files though, I sure wish it would.

I had an old version. I downloaded another version ((8X) and it changed the save from cbs to max file. Then I copied it on my Memory card using the Max evo 2 stick and program but... it said that the save file is corrupted. I use a Slimline PAL PS2 with Mod chip infinity 1.32 and I play the import game (NTSC US) so I wonder if that is the problem. I may buy directly codebreaker from e bay (tried a copy but does not boot up) and see if that helps to get the saved data from the stick to the MC without problems. I also read in some threads that I should use ELF but what for?

Hi all again. I must be blind...I have seen that on GAMEFAQS there are different saves available...not only CBS but also max file etc. I will try again saving a max save this time without converting it and saving it then on MC. I will let you know if it works.

Just follow dan168 guide and at the bottom of his post tells how to change the region, PAL to NTSC. Its just a matter of renaming the file.
You need to have a usb flash drive, I just use my USB HD and have put the files in my SWAPMAGIC folder, renamed my ulaunch elf file to SMBOOT 1 and of course boot it with SM 3.8
But on gamefaq you should be able to get the right max file for the exact game you are playing. So if its a NTSC game you are playing then thats the max file you want to use with your MAX EVO stick.

HI again thanks I will try. I have spent the night (coudl not sleep anyway) with AR MAX 2. I copied the files in max format for 2 games and moved them to the MCard for Drakengard and for Grandia II (using only the usb stick and regular software purchased)
Grandia 2 worked fine (I have the original PAL Copy of this game) and I got the saved data from the codejunkies website
Drakengard worked fine but of this I have the backed up copy on Verbatim cd (so I do not know if it is PAL or NTSC)
No joy with the NTSC game HACK GU 1 as it says that the data are corrupted on the MCard. I am trying to get a NTSC copy of Drakengard and see if I can play the saved data from the GAMEFAQS website.
I will also follow the tutorial you told me. I just have a query: how do I change the name of a saved game from NTSC to PAL if this game does not exist in PAL format as it never came out in the UK? (HACK gu is such a game)
Well I will mess around during the week end and let you know anyway
My PS2 slimline is modded with chip infinity 1.32 (or1.82)

Ok then its only the game we worry about to change region on. If you are playing a NTSC game then that is the type of game save you are looking for, in order for it too work.

Now for this you only need to explore the backup on your computer and see if you have a SLUS,SCUS(NTSC) or SLES,SCES(PAL) file.
