i know you said that they would go bankrup but how come after loosing 4 billion last time with xbox they still seem to be here, i do know what you mean, 300 is a lot, but if you remember back to a couple of days ago i told you that i heard from a website that they were loosing 125$ not 300$, i mean no way could they loose that much it would be too hard to regai in the long run and also M$ are too clever to loose that much after all they did not get to the position they are today buy loosing a whole lot of money. i know its hard to beleive that they can even make up for 125$ b/c of the average games that they brought out for launch but i think with the games they have to come and like the webcam and stuff, they might eventually make it up. but i think that they will have to sell more than 22 million like last time, also i think they do a bad job on advertising xbox live, i only got to know about it from a friend, they never do anything else to explain it, well not before halo 2 anyway. also do you not think that 2 million people on xbox live out of 22 million who have the first xbox is kinda crap, it should be a hell of a lot more.

did anyone listen to me? you cant include a game into the loss margin, ms gets like 2 bucks. the cord is cheap. and the wireless adapter is what 120 bucks?!?!!!!!! thats what the retail stores are selling it for, and 90 online. ps3 comes integrated with wifi for freeeeeeee! your 360 now cost you what? 600ish? for al tha come with a ps3 at an estimated 400-450 range?
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

lolol, thats the funiest thing i ever heard you think your getting anything for free just b/c it comes integrated, they are f***ing charging for it in the over all price.
and as for paying 600£ = 1020$ here in london i would gladly do it again for the xbox 360 just like kookoo said that he would pay 1000$ for a blu ray its up to you how much you want to spend. also remember with 1020 dollars i got a lot of accesories and games
oh and also i think that if you calculated everything i listed before in american prices i am sure it would not come to 1020$ its just that everything here in london is so f***ing expensive.
how much do you guys have to pay for your games

alot of games yes, but alot of good games? no. there are only a few games out on 360 i'd enjoy right now. if you wanna blow your cash on a system that is substandard of my friends 6800gt and ddr2oc. cuz it ties my firend pc. that is sad if this console is supposed to last.

Both consoles will sell at a loss inorder to out do one antoher in performance. Like I said its a buisness tactic that has been around for a while which started off with guillet razors.
anubis, I seem to remember that you dont make things up, so can I have the evidence from the rediculas claim that Microsoft as well as Sony make a $2 proffit per game.
Also can I have the evidence that Microsoft treat thier foriegn empolyees like Nike does? If there is evidence then please can you show that Sony does not do the same.
Next, 360 sales have been worse in Japan than xbox, dont see why anyone find's that funny if thier not a PS3 fanboy? I believe 360 will sell well in Japan from the small pices of evidence I have found which I have posted on this thread. There will be quite a few RPG's and Japanese themed games coming to the 360 (way more than what xbox had). The Japanese public have said they are waiting for these games before purchasing the console. I still believe PS3 will beat 360 in terms of sales in Japan but I think 360 will close the gap.

It ties with your friends p.c eh anubis. Hmmm sure. I have read some articles posted previously on here about ps3 and 360 power, one where a m$ spokesmen (biased i know) say's the consoles are both ferraries with 360 beating it slightly, then there was the article from hideo kojema (these japanese names so bloody hard to spell) who makes metal gear and has a DEV kit he say's both consoles are very close in power. Then there was a report about graphic cards (biased, ati, i know) which talks about 360 graphics card being more refined and another 360 vs ps3 comparison at which shows 360 to be slightly superior in some power aspects
http://www.xboxtoday.ca/12292005/18/a_detailed_comparison_of_the_...
(there is links for the others which hopefully youve read before in this and other threads, ask me if you want one). So gathering up this info, biased or not, say's that they are both powerfull, even with 360 taking the lead slightly, the best evidence is that from hideo who works for sony, why would he support 360 like that? So I am beggining to conclude with the mounting evidence that they are not so different in power and anubis if your erm.. friends pc matches the power of the 360 then your guna get a suprise when the ps3 comes out ;)

Anubis, you gotta loosen up your grip on Sony a little bit.
Quote: if you wanna blow your cash on a system that is substandard of my friends 6800gt and ddr2oc. cuz it ties my firend pc. that is sad if this console is supposed to last.
That card alone will run you, what.. around half the price of a 360? Not to mention you need to pay for the whole computer to wrap around it. Don't tell someone who just wants to play their favorite games about blowing cash. You're talking about a computer that certainly costs more than $600 dollars that you didn't even pay for.
Quote: ps3 comes integrated with wifi for freeeeeeee! your 360 now cost you what? 600ish? for al tha come with a ps3 at an estimated 400-450 range?
PS3 'Wi-Fi' will not be "freeeeeeee!". It won't even be "freeee!". We'll pay in the base price of the system on the day we buy it.
Why should someone have to pay for a function if they don't even want to use it? If it is sold as a periphial, the consumer has the choice to dictate how much a system eventually costs them. That's why I think the theory of the Core system was pretty-much a good idea and the $400 XB360 is a pretty good deal. Technology isn't free and the only ones who should have to pay for it are the ones who want to use it.
I don't need wireless for my 360 and if Microsoft can save some money by not having to put one in every system and I can save some money by not having to pay for it I think we will both be content. And if I discover one day that I do want it, I still have the option to go out and get it.
How could someone see this as a bad thing? By assuming your needs are the needs of everyone. Variety offers the potential to make more people happy. Your way only satisfies people who think like you. Why people feel the need to convince people out of their own heads is beyond me.
If the PS3 comes out in the %400-$450 range with all the promised hardware, should I celebrate and take advantage of this incredible steal or should I bash the company like you choose to do w/ Microsoft?
I already know what I will be doing when it is released.
Could you please post a link for me where the final specs and price of the PS3 are posted? I can't find it.

just a quick thought on the blueray disk. it seams like its goin to cost an arm and a leg, but the games coming out sofar dont look like they will need to be on one of them, anyone think the early games will be of non blue ray format? seams logical to me, would be like buying a jet to go across town.

they will. remember early ps2 games were on cd? plus the games are going to be $60, regardless of the bluray. i know this cuz preorder games are 60 right now, so retailers know something.

to people going "omg disc cost" read this
Quote: What will Blu-ray Disc products cost?
As with any new technology the first generation of products will likely be quite expensive due to low production volumes. However, this shouldn't be a problem for long as there is a wide range of Blu-ray Disc products (players, recorders, drives, writers, media, etc) planned, which should help drive up production volumes and lower overall production costs. Once mass production of components for Blu-ray products begins the prices are expected to fall quickly.
According to the Blu-ray Disc Association, the overall cost of manufacturing Blu-ray Disc media will in the end be no more expensive than producing a DVD. The reduced injection molding costs (one molding machine instead of two, no birefringence problems) offset the additional cost of applying the cover layer and low cost hard-coat, while the techniques used for applying the recording layer remain the same. As production volumes increase the production costs should fall and eventually be comparable to DVDs.
that was taken from http://blu-ray.com

Sorry man, but not even a 7800 can play a game with the rsx or ati xenos (ps3 and xbox360)at 100%. And the ps3 costs less than the card. LOl, but yess, PC's will once again dominate with power. I just cant w8 till ge71 line comes.

It probably is the most well-rounded of the choices, but just getting a PC poses a problem for people who want to play, say....Guitar Hero, Timesplitters, or Devil May Cry. I know you said 'all the best games'. If your bag is only the 'best' FPS's, then yea, you should be covered without a doubt on the PC. That's where I choose to play my FPS's, but there are alot of other games I myself, along with other people enjoy that aren't available on PC.
I've built my computers for over the last ten years and I used to chase the newest video card release every 6 months, bucket-fulls of RAM, more fans than a rockstar, etc...but none of that was cheaper than a console or could ever put Castlevania up on my monitor.
Quote: According to the Blu-ray Disc Association, the overall cost of manufacturing Blu-ray Disc media will in the end be no more expensive than producing a DVD.
That is talking about the production cost. That doesn't necessarily transfer into retail. I remember when DVD's came out, they were saying how much more affordable than VHS they would be, because of less parts to manufacture it. Better quality movies all on a simple disc. Plus, they could add all this extra footage, interactive menus, still photos, commentaries. All that flash and cheaper than a VHS movie. The price didn't go the way they proposed. That doesn't mean the same will happen with Blu-Ray, but I doubt Sony is investing and pushing their technology just so everyone can make the same kind of money with a new media format that they already are making with an old one. Like CD's cost more than cassettes did or a memory stick costs more/per than a Hard Drive.
On the other side of the coin, I guess it is remotely possible they could just bring us all 5 times the media volume at the same price we're used to. PC games can span 5 discs and still cost the normal price. I guess it's possible. Being a disc format it's not too much of a stretch from the current trend, so yea, price to manufacture could be overcome fairly fast.
Regardless, like all other significant advances, to pay more should be expected. Consumers justify a products price through their purchase. There is no reason to complain about that, unless it doesn't live up to it's promise.

you cant really do multiplayer on a pc without many expenvie pc's. plus for a pc with equil power to either system would be well over 1.5k. this is cost effective aqnd good for friends.

the ces approches.. i wonder if sony will impress or if they ill release nothing on the ps3. maybe its so good they will hype it later all at once in a big package. or it sucks so bad they dont wanna release anything untill ppl preorder so hey can make money. lets hope for the best as the day progresses.

with the ps3 coming out later, i believe it will be far more superior. they still gave us old stats, but with the release of the 360 so early, i think sony may be delaying because they want to revise the system to make it much better than the 360. before with old stats, it was going to be somewhat better, but they are taking there time to make it the best so as they can trample the 360 market.
