I have another question-the guide says this:
Step 9: Extract your iso and burn it w/ Nero. (I have only used Nero v7 and I have not yet had a problem). If you get a .gcm file, rename it to .iso and burn away w/ Nero. NOTE1: If your GCM is <~1.3GB in size, you must use a tool called http://www.lekkertjooos.nl/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=getit&... Wiped GCM Fixer.
Now I have a .gcm file that is greater than 1.3GB... so all I have to do is right click the file, hit Rename, and change the extension to .iso and then it is ready to burn? If that's the case, then I'm curious... why do some groups make the games in the .gcm extension?

that's just how it is when u rip it and when you want to stream it via BBA/PSO method to play. Nothing else really. just rename to .iso and off you go.

Could anyone tell me how long it will take to shop the Max Drive Pro from codejunkies to the Netherlands? Is there a dutch person on here who ordered one? I want to buy one, but I also want to have an idea on how long it will take...

you mentioned that you can't boot original games. does that mean you also can't use the freeloader capabilities to play original import games?

doh...not having much luck. finally got my MDP (took 2 weeks, but it felt like 2 months). downloaded GCOSf1.5. Didn't see any .dol files, so i ran 'Build(PSOMAXDRIVEAR).bat' after it ran, 'GCOS_PSO.dol' appeared. i updated the MDP computer software, and copied the .dol file onto the card. after choosing GCOS_POS.dol from the list of files on the card, it went to a red screen with "EXCEPTION : 00000400" on top and numbers covering the page before freezing.
i then downloaded the GCOSb2. it had a .dol file, which i also put on the card. when i loaded it, a message told me that mounting was in progress. this was followed by ?loading game...? but the screen just went to black, and though the disc continued to spin, nothing happened.
i tried restarting it and running everything again. every now and then, upon restart it told me that there was a "Hardware read error...please re-insert The MAX Drive memory card". i would take it out and put it back in, but the results were always the same. red for 1.5, black for 2.
i resaved the files several times, and can't think what else to do. i never even got a chance to see if my burned backups worked, because i can't even get GCOS to load. might the card be busted? or am i doing something horribly wrong?

Hi there all, I have another question...
I received my mini DVD-Rs in the mail today and even though my MDP hasn't arrived yet, I went ahead and burned a game with Nero. I did what the guide said and made sure that the disc was being finalized, then I proceeded to burn it. My only option was 2x (I have the same mini DVD-Rs used in the guide) but I suppose that is my DVD Burners fault and I need a new firmware (using factory firmware now).
However... I did go ahead and burn a game and once it finished I opened up the mini DVD-R and noticed that the .iso file was the only thing listed. Is this all that's supposed to be there?? Any other times I've burned .iso files to normal-sized DVD-Rs, I have always gotten a lot of small files (such as when I burn a PS2 game or movie).
If the .iso isn't supposed to be burned like that, can someone please explain to me the exact steps to take to burn it in Nero? I was kind of confused at first when the wizard asked me which DVD burning option to choose... so please start from there.
TIA!

doh...after not getting a single file to load, the MaxDrive program has stopped recognizing the card. "Error reading card - Remove and restart the application." no matter how many times i restart the application, or remove/reconnect the card, i get the same message. i have been very gentle with the card. it has never been able to load a file (just retrieved it from the mail less than 2 hours ago) and after several transfers, it is no longer recognized by the program that is used to reformat it (according to the FAQ). any suggestions?

@ Nealio: You did not burn it correctly. The easiest thing to do, start Nero StartSmart (Start>Programs>Nero>Nero StartSmart). Make sure 'DVD' is selected in the upper right hand corner. Choose "Copy and Backup", it's the second to last group. Select "Burn Image to Disc", icon has the match over the cd. Browse for your .iso. Burn the image. select finalize and 2x. Wait 10 min. Done.
@ blf12: Yes. You didn't read the entire thread, did you. ;) I think I have posted it more than once (or at least once). You can copy the .dol from the MDP card to another more reliable card just as you would any game save. put both cards in the GC. start without a disk in. Goto memory cards. right click the .dol. choose copy.

NJJackals, thanks for the help! I'm reburning it now... only thing is doing it that way I didn't see an option to finalize the disc. I clicked on the more options button and still didn't see anything. Does it automatically finalize the disc whenever you choose to burn an image in Nero Start Smart?

Also... I noticed this time when I burned it that Windows didn't recognize the mini DVD-R as anything. I haven't done much research on GameCube games, but I'd assume this is how the games are made, so that you cannot insert them into a PC and read the files, right?
Thanks everyone for responding to everybody's questions and keeping this going!

Nealio>> NERO 6 finalize automatically on burns.
GrayScar>> I had the same problem. Install updated soft, that should fix the problem.
Here is some info for the folks that have problems.
First download new version for PC MAXpro from codejunkies http://us.codejunkies.com/support_product.asp?c=GB&cr=USD&cs=$&r=... Uninstall old version1.0. Install new one 1.1
You will have to register to get the Gcos file.
Download Gcos1.5 from here http://modthatcube.pxn-os.org/main.htm Select >supplements>file database then scroll down in right panel and download GCOS15F.zip, unzip and copy file gcos1.5(pso).dol to the right panel maxpro.

thank you for the help comi1. unfortunately, I have version 1.1 installed. also, when i go to format the card on the gamecube (as instructed in the troubleshooting section of the manual), it recognizes that it needs to be formatted, but cannot actually format it. i'm waiting to hear back from codejunkies support...hopefully they will be able to offer some sort of solution.
luck would also have it that tehskeen appears to be offline.

Greyscar - don't worry about the error.(read my previous posts regarding this a few pages back).
If you can see the max drive card icon in the 'cube' window then just right click on it and format. Then try dragging the gcos file over again.

OK. I have a few .gcm files that are only about 200Mb in size. I have tried to use the GCM WIPE fixing program on 2 in particular but it just hangs. I have successfuly used it on another .gcm file or two so I know it works sometimes.
Do you think these 2 are just duff files?

fortunately for me, comi, the download link is back up (it's good to know that i'm attempting to load the same file that works for everyone else). sorry i missed your previous post komakino. at the time i was scanning the rest of the comments, i was looking for frozen screen issues, not formatting messages. thanks for taking the time to repost.
so, after reformatting my card and downloading the other version of GCOS1.5, it again froze...this time on a peach screen.
after reformatting and placing the file on the card 2 more times, it finally loaded the GCOS. i copied the file over to my nintendo brand card, and it continues to load every time.
on a sad note, none of the iso discs i had burned worked ("media wasn't recognized!"), but in all fairness, i burned them before i knew about Wiped GCM Fixer.
i don't have access to my burner at this time, but as soon as i get some wiped copies, i'll be sure to let you guys know how they work. thanks again to everyone for all the help, and for being so understanding.

Codejunkies tells some people it is in stock and others it is backorderd. They try to rip lots of people off that way because they are based in the UK. That company is worthless. Good luck trying to call them to. They have basically one monkey who answers phones for them, his name is Stacy. Stacy is usually on smoke breaks or something because he never answers the phone. You probably got scammed tomba
