I have used the same software and procedure in both cases. I read in another thread that someone downloaded an iso that failed to be read by the Wii but I don't see that as too similar to my problem.

Since your problem is related to ripping wii games then a problem with a downloaded iso (unless that is what you have) really need not apply here.

It could be anything, this isn't a gauranteed science, I have read that plenty of games refuse to work regardless of the rip or region code etc. It depends on your mod chip, media type, burn speed, programs running while burning etc etc. Some stuff just doesn't work. If one HAS worked then I would assume it would be the latter. Try ripping it again, maybe in safe mode, try another type of media like verbatim or something, if it doesn't work then guess you can't rip that game. BTW what game is it.

I want to start making back-up games, but I only have a laptop (no desktop) is there any other drive I can use? Or is there a way to mod the LG to use as external?

Sorry if it seems dense. I'm 100% new to this.
i never did this but theres no reason it shouldnt work get a external dvd drive case and put the lg drive inside..im no computer genius but you get the basic idea...

This has been covered in this thread already. You have to get an external enclosure and use it like a USB drive. Search through the pages for further clarificaiton.

Meaning running rawdump on Wine or Crossover? or as in a native linux program? or just the burning part?

I'll be testing running rawdump on Wine/Crossover and will post something back. I have not heard of a native Linux program yet. Maybe this is something to try, is rawdump opensource?

edit: It works fine using Windows XP on a VMWare inside of Linux (Gentoo), I can do everything except burn the iso's for some reason. I am required to copy then and burn them from native Linux or native Windows.

i meant a native program but running it under wine would be just as good.

To use it on Linux, why don't you just run WINE (it's an little program which will run Windows applications). But chances are they aren't ever going to make a RAWDUMP for Linux because way more people have Windows.

Thats what we've been talking about DStefani...however I was not successful in running Rawdump 2.0 under Wine, maybe other people might though. Every Linux is different and so it depends. I was able to install everything from the .net framework, but was not able to run Rawdump correctly. Good Luck.

Works well on VMWARE though.

I am running into a problem ripping Gamecube games. I am able to rip Wii games just fine using the LG drive and Rawdump 2.0. I put in the original Spiderman movie game for the Cube to try and rip.. it works just fine until there's about a minute to go in the rip process. The image file got to 1.33GB in size... Then it just hangs there and doesn't do anything anymore..

So I tried other cube games I have with the same issue.

I have used this drive to rip Zelda: Twilight Princess for the Wii, along with Red Steel, so I know it works..... What am I doing wrong as far as Cube games go??

I'm using Windows XP Media Center edition...

rnarco can you READ!!!!!!
13th page 1/2 way down let me show you again as you can't use the search button on the page. People need to read plain and simple. This has been a waste of time on this thread. If you read and use the search feature you wouldn't be asking these questions. Everyone asks the same thing over and over again. And if you say no yopu aren't reading. There should be more time doing other things than answering the same thing over and over.

I have went through all these pages for this thread. And what i have come up with is that we could shorten this to 2 pages at best.

1 you need the LG forget about asking abouth others.
2 You need a modchip.
3 I burned mine with imgburn 2.3.2.0. Props to the maker
4 At the first post it stated it can only work on the Wii if it matched a certin # but twice ( Farcry and Sonic) Comes up with htis number 4,589,824kb and seems to work fine.
5 I am working with Vista Ultimate Edition.
6 When i use Rawdump(Props do here as well) It gives me errors at first but i resart the program and it works fine then.
7 I am using FUJI Film DVD-R
8 I am using Plextor Usb Burner at 4x and seems fine.
9 Also using the Wiikey
So please keep the silly questions down and the answers up . Also there is a cool thing called the Fu**in SEARCH BUTTON.
Well there is my 2 cents worth.

Hi All

Good thread apart from repeated questions ad infinitum...

Just a couple of points

The LG drive is available from www.cclonline.com (based nr Bradford, West Yorks), good guys, i have been buying from them for about 8 or 9 years.

Also if u want iso images of wii games check out...

www.phoenix.easynews.com

loads of them on there. So far all worked ok (apart from a few corrupt rar's which SmartPar fixed no prob!)and only about £4.50 a month for 20Gb worth (30GB if u use NNTP rather than HTTP)

Wish my spare PC would dump in 2.5 hrs! Still doesnt matter when its just sat there doing nothing else!

Cheers

Does anybody know if there is a way to backup multiple gamecube games on one DVD-R? I have a Wiikey installed, backed up Wii games work find. If possible, I'd like to put multiple gc games on one DVD-R to save discs. Is this possible with a Wiikey?

In the first post the number to look for when you know that you have a good dump is tricky. The reason as follows.
1.) If you look at what was dumped in the rawdump dir.it has 4,589,824kb as i found out was a good dump after dumping it 3 times.

2.) Now if you don't look at the rawdump dir. but if you use imgburn when you burn it it has 4,699,776kb in there.

So either way you have a good dump depending where you look. Hopes this helps someone.

No, you cannot put multiple discs on one DVD-R because each of those discs are labeled (with a number or something else) and whenever the game needs a certain file it is directed to the 2nd, 3rd, etc. disc and it knows which one is inside by it's label. One disc can only have one label, so when it needs a certain file it will want disc 2 (of course since your disc label is 1 it will think it is only disc 1 and none other). So you have to make multiply discs, not a single.
