halo 2 sucked for online. to automatically get matched with people who rape you because they start new low level acounts just for that. you get sniped if you step anywhere near an open area because sniping is sooooooooo easy. the moves are soooo predictable. and you cant pick your own server. it was probably the lamest game online i played. splitscreen was more fun.
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

You got sniped everytime you stepped out in the open? And people with high level accounts made new accounts so they could kill n00bs... And what seperates this from any other 1st person shooter online? Matchmaking is meant to pair people who's account is close to the same level as yours. If you are a level 1, and keep getting owned, maybe you have the controller upside down, or maybe you need to go play campaign. Beat it on Heroic by yourself and maybe you'll be able to win a game or two, beat it on legendary and you'll have little better appreciation for XBL. The covy snipers in legendary really will snipe you the second you step out into the open unless you snipe them first. Just because you suck at a game doesn't mean it sucked online.

i never really got sniped that much even in a 16 player sniping match, you must have sucked. also i started playing from the start so i had as good a chance as anybody. and as for getting placed into a match by the server well when you have 1.5 million people playing on halo 2 xbl you find friends fast and that way you never have to join a game without knowing who's in it ever again.
like i keep saying you have to have xbox and xbox live you can not just go round a friends house play for a couple of hrs and say its crap, when you have it for youyr self you make friends and get invites, basically it changes the xbl experience.

Finally someone who makes a intelligent statement about something they actually do. I can't say anything about xboxlive because I have only tried it 1 time, thus I can't make a real judgement. All the people crying about the xbo360 and bashing should do the same thing when they don't play everyday and not once in a while at walmart.

I agree with Kook! It was not a bad game but it in no way revolutionized online multiplayer gaming. So many games came before it that had the same formula! It was a good game, but thats about it!

yeah. it was fun but only in single player. the the sniper is to easily used. i always played with friends online so i was set against 12-15 lv players, and there would always be a sniper on top of the map or some guy hidden raping everyone with the predictablility of the engine.

btw, KoOkOo67, I've never posted here or even seen these forums or bothered with them before today. However, I saw your reply on how ALL CONSOLES render FMV cutscenes. I dont know if your a respected member of the forum or what, but imo your pretty stupid.
Please don't argue on what you don't actually know.
I thought you were about 5 when I was first reading your posts.
For the sake of some logic to be left in this thread I felt I needed to post so that many more don't become stupid like you.
Take a programming class, son. Or use some logic. As for why the cutscenes were worse back in the day, (I've done renderings before in 3dsm/blender/etc., but I'm an amateur) I'm assuming its the rendering process. I can guarentee you its probably the rendering process and lack of great tools back in the day but I'm not gonna make that claim fully because I dont want to be an idiot like you. It takes ALOT of time to render any scene, since alot of calculations need to be made, I heard some probably BS statistic back in the day that may be true or not, not sure, but it was that the original Final Fantasy movie rendering was going at 3 seconds or so a day (thats statistically impossible though you see). Now imagine, tryin to render the ff7 graphics on a 486 (no thats not megahertz, before you make the claim, google 80468). Although I'm sure they had faster rendering systems back then and did it in a different fashion, it would no way be equivilent to the beowulf clusters of overclocked machines that they probably use now. Thats why. Nothing was rendered "On the ps2" or on the "psx".
Switching between "video" and "game" is not IMPOSSIBLE. Don't you think that programmers have access over what is displayed? A compressed formated video could be decompressed and shown frame by frame, as one on a computer.
This is all cutscenes are.
This is why it technically is possible (back me up if you've done it) to replace video-game-cutscenes with AVI porn files found off some random site (with a modchip, a backed up version of the game, and ftping with the video in the correct format).
What? did the xbox just render real life pornography?
Look at the amazing textures on that human gettin banged! WOW, I didnt realize the xbox was capable of this!
Theres also another example, you can convert any video into a gba video format.
Try http://www.gameboy-advance.net/video/meteo_avi-2-gba_video_codec.htm you'll see what I mean.
Switchin between game and video is easy, if your the developer.

Online on PS2 is very very poor. If Sony make an online service as good as if not better than the 360 live service and the consumer doesnt have to pay for it then I hand it to Sony. That would be a very good strong point of the PS3 and Microsoft would have to reconsider thier online service inorder to compete. However the 360 online service is free to a certain extent unless you want to play online or download certain content.
So until Sony explain thier online service the best online service out there is Microsofts and for the price you pay for the service (the people who keep it up to date, security and many more things) its very good and cheap. If Sony can pull off the same thing but for free (I suppose they will pay thier staff from game sales as well as other proffit) then well done to them and it gives a big plus. However nothing has been said so no one can comment on Sonys online being better or free.

Old Kook's right. I can't complain about online on the PS2. XBOX Live is more organized and better in anyway, but for a price. It's a matter of how are willing to pay for it or not.

ok well if its free i supose your right in saying that you can not really complain about it but, that in no way means that its good.
different people want to pay different amounts for everything, i mean 40 pounds are year is not very much when you consider i remeber you kookoo saying that you would not mind paying 1000 for a blu ray dvd which in my mind is stupid but, like i said its up to the person how much they want to spend on something.

Of course you cant complain about somthing thats free but PS2 online is bad.
Lets put it like this. There are online games on the PC which are free and then there is World of Warcraft. World of Warcraft is quite expensive for the service Blizzard give but becuase the service is very good as well as the game people are willing to pay for it. Another example is anubis's where he says if PS3 is good then people will pay the extra money for the better console. Lastly the best example is xbox live it self. Over 2 million subscriber's when 360 was announced in May but how many people where using the PS2 online facilitie's? You dont here Sony boast about there online?
So as I was saying before if Sony can pull off a system like xbox live but for free then that will be a big plus for the PS3.

ps2's online gaming did what it did, online gaming. it didnt have a bunch of pointless fetures, and the game devs could mold the online play how they wanted. look at timesplitters, you can have friends, send messages, and other things. i believe its the same with most ea online related ps2 games. thats all you really need to play online. there is nothing wrong with it. same idea here as people who say ps3 has too many ports and the 360's lack is ok cuz who uses em you say. its opinion.
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

dammit man, ps2 online is'nt "bad". It just is'nt as good as xbox live. This is because sony did'nt intend ps2 online to be extraordinary, because online consol gamming is'nt as popular as you think. Probably 80% of ppl who own consols DONT play them online.
