Do Taiyo-made Sony DVD+Rs have a purple base? My DVD+Rs do. Just want to be 100% sure they're Taiyos(can't check in my computer as I have no DVD drive).

That's because that wasn't intended to help you, but Skippydzg. This is the PS2 DVD forum, not the PS2 CD forum. Frankly, if you have time to make two posts about it, then you have time to log onto google and type in CDR quality review.

Tokijin, I really think this thread should be open to EVERY media type, both CD and DVD, since I am seeing VERY little about the qualitiy of CDs around this forum.

Well I was just pointing that you're posting in the wrong forum. You were complaining about people not helping you, that's why. In short Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, and Sony CD media is quality. Burn at 1/4 the max speed of the disc for best results. I've written a comprehensive CD backup tutorial. http://www.xtreme-source.com/showthread.php?t=787

"can we make greg i's account ban permanent?"
mmmmmmmm seems to me this does have something to do with it but then again what do i know.
FOR THE RECORD i got an email supposedly from afterdawn saying my account information must be updated in order to log in but it was obviously fake even though it was the afterdawn site.It just had a page aksing for my password lol so if u get a email from afterdawn asking u to update ur info just delete it especially u addicts that have worked so hard for 2,500 posts or unless tokijin is trying to get my password to get me permanently banned or something. If u need me to forward the email i gladly will.

if whenever I try to load a backup ive made with swap magic/zoneloader/cogswaploader/cdloader my ps2 starts making all these load noises like its trying to read it, does that mean i have krappy quality discs?

Actually, I'm complaining about the lack of information for the best CD media(unless it's the same as DVD media). This would really be good, especially for people who want to copy PlayStation 2 CD-ROM games or PlayStation games.
By the way, nice guide on making CD backups(explains why I got a failed burn for Gran Turismo(PAL):-p I'm a noob to PSX backups).

@ Ace_2 No prob. I started with PSX backups, moved up to PS2 backups, etc. Everybody starts somewhere.
GregI, I'm not trying to get you banned, you're trying to get yourself banned lol. Trust me I don't want your password, I don't think anybody does. Quote: mmmmmmmm seems to me this does have something to do with it but then again what do i know
Nothing. You've demonstrated that consistently with nonsensical, worthless posts.
@ cmfkapaka Most likley. Fuji media is okay, but the PS2 is very picky. My PS2 doesn't like Sony's MIT media. Some Taiyo Yudens or Verbatims would probably resolve the issue.
86. Q. Where can I find good deals on legit Taiyo Yuden's and Verbatim's?
A. http://www.supermediastore.com Great List of Merchants locally, online, in the U.K., etc:

Glad you got everything working. Unfortunately 16x media is very iffy with the PS2. There are people that use it with no probs. There are other people who can't get it to work at all. That's the whole reason I just say to avoid it. Enjoy your backups!

m suppose this will be another worthless post then eh.I find taht people having trouble burning 8x discs at 4x and not working in ps2 is ur dvd burner cause discs taht i have burnt at 4x which have the option to burn at 4x,6x and 8x dont work but if u have a good burner(the super double layer dvd drive in my £1350 sony vaio laptop with intel core duo will burn the same discs but at 2.4x aswell(so the moral of the story is to get better discs or buy a sony vaio laptop or if u dont have the money then just a better dvd drive)

Oh, grow up, will you? GregI, if you didn't do whatever(sorry for a lack of better terms) stupidities you did, you wouldn't even be in this situation. So, just quit whining. I don't know if this should be considered a threat, but if it is, I know it's against the forum rules, but I couldn't help to express how disgusted I am about GregI's babyish attitude.

Yes I agree Ace. I think it's only his second nick, there was GregInnes, then he came back as GregI, but that's not the point. Just ignore him. Clearly all he does is try to get a rise out of people. Even I fall victim to it sometimes. Just do your best to ignore him. That's the best solution for all involved. At the end of the day, people know whose posts're valuable and thoughtful, and whose are utter nonsense.
