All right, the time has come for the EJECT
method.
Do the following:
Try the 1.9g update by ejecting the DVD before TEST and before UPDATE. Once you get the message update complete, reboot. The play Galaxy.
hat I mean is:
A) insert the 1.9g disc
B) wait until it says disc stopping press A or reset to start then eject the disc before you press reset or A.
C) The press Reset or A, it will then count up to 100%
D) Then put the disc back in. It will tell you the same again and eject before pressing reset or A.
Let me know... good luck!

Haha, yea.. oddly enough the "tapping" method was the first thing that came to mind naturally (out of frusturation) XD
I think I'm going to open the wii in the next day or so. Yet if it was a wii-key related issue, would that still cause the wii to be unable to read legit disks as well?

hey Rafa-kun i did the eject method and got success twice but still get unauthorized disc for SMG.
Basically, it says success but it doesn't update anything.
I hate to give my wii to the shop keeper that fixes updates. T_T
Advice is ever in want.

1) Try burning the 1.9g update on a different burner
2) If that does not work then you have a wiikey clone (possibly from divineo) and I cannot help you there.

Gathered from different sources on the NET, here is a summary on how to run the DL SSBB Jap version on your Wiikey modded Wii:
1) Games of other regions different from our console don't usually run at all. This game, being japanese (NTSC-J), would need one of two things to ever run in either USA (NTSC-U) or Europe (PAL) Wii's:
a) To have multiregion support on your modchip and have it enabled (wiikey has it disabled by default, this can be set with the 1.3 or 1.2 configuration disc).
b) or, if you don't want to enable the multiregion support, then run regionfrii on the ISO before you burn it and set it to your region.
2) Games like this REQUIRE an update to run (more on this later). Without this update, it will not run. This update would bring your wii to 3.1 version of firmware and, perhaps, add a few non-important things. But if the update doesn't run (even if only til 15%), the game won't run.
3) When you let games of other regions run updates on your wii ... it MAY SCREW IT UP either completly (total brick), partially (semi-brick) or only add a few duplicate channels (not important and minor inconvenience).
4) The new Brick-Blocker (WBB 1.3R2) works now on the DL release however it stops the the game from runing the update, thus preventing you to run the upgrade of a game from another region inadvertenly and screwing your wii. But remeber point 2 -- This game REQUIRES running the update (even if only til 15%), so at some point you are going to need a copy of this game without brick-blocker on it. If you always brick-block everything, you'll never be able to play this game.
5) Since you must run the update in this disc, you have two options. But first, let me stress, that you SHOULD NOT DO ANY OF THOSE TWO OPTIONS I'M GOING TO MENTION unless your wii is already updated to the newest firmware revision of your region. For americans this would be 3.1u. For europeans 3.1e. For japanese this doesn't matter, as the game will upgrade to 3.1j if you let the full update run. If your wii's firmware is below 3.1 ... don't attempt to run this game with a non-japanese wii!!!!!!!!!!
6) From now on you should have your wii updated to 3.1 to continue. If not, update by connecting your wii to internet. If you can't connect, you could update by running games from YOUR region that carry the updates, such as Wii Chess (PAL) if you are in europe and not-sure-what-games if you are in the US (maybe Donkey Kong Jet Racer NTSC-U). So now you have a 3.1 version of your firmware and you can proceed.
7) These are the two options you have:
A) You put the DVD9 game in without using brick-blocker (using regionfrii'd if necessary, it never hurts to run regionfrii, so you can do it even if it's not necessary), boots and asks you to update, accept the update and let it finish. You are done. You won't have problems with this game again or have to do anything weird to run it. But, as a result, you will have duplicate news and weather channels in your non-japanese wii.
B) You really can't live with the duplicate channels and are willing to risk complicated procedures to run the game to avoid it. Fine. Then you need: one copy of the DVD5 disc not brickblocked anad the DL DVD9 SSMMB disc brickblocked. Then you do the following: put the non-brick-blocked DVD5 disc in. Accept the update but, when it's about 15% done (on the W letter of the word POWER), you unplug your wii. That's it, you don't need that disc anymore or do this again. From now on you start the game using the the DL brickblocked disc. (and just thinking how people were worried about using the Wiikey ... LOL).
All this you have to remember that if you don't have multiregion support enabled in your chip, all the discs from different regions (like this game) you want to try might first be run by the regionfrii program and it's region changed (set) to that of your country.
*********
And the most important thing to remember here is NOT TO DO ANY OF THIS IF YOUR WII IS AT FIRMWARE REVISION BELOW 3.1, as this game will try to upgrade you to 3.1j if your wii is not 3.1 (u or e) already could leave you with a semi-brick wii or, worse, if you unplug the wii during the upgrade trying to do the 15% trick, it may brick your wii completely (this doesn't happen if you already have 3.1 as then it is not really updating, just adding minor stuff that is not-critical).

How to run a SL 4.7GB SSBB disc on your Wiikey modded Wii:
---------------------- INFO ABOUT SSBB (Jap) ---------------
From the SSBB thread:
Quote: ok, so here is the scoop for everyone still looking.
there is no direct linking here, so start by going to efnet.ogg, join any room, then enter /join #alt.binaries.games.wii
this is for usenet users mainly. But there they can offer the link to the NBS or the search from binsearch.info and use maybe Dairantou_Smash_Brothers_X_INTERNAL as the search term
Start the leech and get it done.
Now you need to burn 2 copies, one with brick blocker, one without (use a search engine to find their homepage if you need it still). Insert the non brickblocked version first, and accept the update, when it is about 10-15% completed, unplug the wii. Start again, but this time with the bblocked version. This avoids a "semi brick" that causes you to duplicate channels on the main wii screen. Even without this, people think it will be a solvable problem with the US Brawl update.
the file mentioned from usenet has a password, it is
wii-reloaded.info
I got this from the people in the IRC, its not mine and I really did try to follow all thread rules, so please be gentle

1. Have Wii Jap console
2. upgraded to 3.1J over wifi
3. downloaded SMG(J) -> works without further updates
Questions:
Does this mean I have a D2C chip?
Is this behavior/characteristic unique of D2C console/chip?

Can I just borrow an original copy of it from a friend, update using the original, and then run a backup from there on out? Does it have to be dual layer or can it be single layer? is there anything one would have to do differently burning in single or double layer?
Thanks!

I'm about to follow these instructions, I just need a DL DVD. My question is that if you update with JAP Super Smash, would it cause problems on future DL games (maybe Brawl for US)? Also, has anyone bricked or semi-bricked their Wii following these instructions (A or B)?

I'm not understanding this. So we need the ripped DVD5 version of Brawl and the normal DVD9 version just to play normally? So it's basically telling us to get the game twice? >.>
Anyway, I'm new to the Wii modding scene and I just have one important question I need answered before I put a Wiikey in my US Wii. Will a Wiikey modded Wii accept Wii updates from the internet? Because I keep getting mixed answers from people I know so I want to ask you guys.

I followed the steps to upgrade my wii key's firmware, but i dont think its working. Here are the steps that i did:
wii system firmware/system/other specifications
-v1.3
-Jap Wii
-Back up copy of Wii Fit(J) and Super Mario Galaxy(J)
Steps that i took
1. placed Wii Fit(J) into system for update (duplicated weather channel)
2. placed 1.9g(J) into wii to update twice
3. Everything went fine, no problems
4. Put in SMG (J)
5. Black screen, unresponsive wii remote control
6. Checked firmware----> stayed at v1.3 :(
Can some one tell me what i did wrong? a backed up all my games at 4x and they all work fine.

1) GCOS works based on the ability of the Wii to run Gamecube games. I do not think that will stop in the future, so GCOS should run just fine.
2) DL DVD+R are the only ones available.
3) Just extract the image and burn it using CloneCD. It appears that CloneCD is the most reliable program to burn this paticular image. (Use a very low speed: e.g. 2.4x)

If you got duplicate channels using WiiFit (Jap) then you do not have a Japanese Wii.
Why are you using all Japanese resources?

1) 3.1U
2) Yes, update via internet
3) It appears Nintendo cannot check for Mod Chips when playing online. indeed, playing online has been safe for any type of modded Wii.

@WiiWee:
Your Wii is definitely Japanese. (Then why the double channel with WiiFIT (J)?!?!)
1) Have you turned Region Override On using the Config disc?
2) Have you patched the SMG game with Wiibrickblocker? If you did, then the game will not run and it will give you the black screen. You cannot use a brickblocked SMG disc.
@WiiWee and @squall23 :
You can move the dupe channels out of the way:
Hold B, then press A when your cursor is over the duplicate channel, then drag it,
Drag it over to the + on the right.

@ rafa. hi, i'm fairly new to all this & despite doing a fair bit of research, some of its still over the top of my head. most of the stuff i have read has been by you on various threads thru here, & you seem a bit of a gospel on these matters to be fair, so wondering if you could help me. i've got a PAL wii, with wiikey installed, and its currently got version 2.2E firmware. i've got donkey kong jet race, but the disc just keeps spinning, & when i press A, it says initializing update, which i guess i don't wanna do, so i eject. my wii is not connected to the net. i've downloaded your excellent 1.9gbootPAl, which is really helpful, cos i'd tried plenty of times doing it myself with filechop with no success but lots of frustration. anyway, could you tell me how i can update my firmware to at least 3.1E, tho i've heard also about 3.3E? plus there's also all this stuff about 1.3? is this as well as 3.3E & something totally seperate, or the same? do i install the 1.9g patch 1st? sorry this is very long winded, but i am new to all this & apologise if i'm going over old stuff. any help would be greatly appreciated
