Hey, ive tried Rawdump 2.0 on all my computers, and for all but one laptop, the computer failed to read the wii or gamecube disk (i tried a few of each). On my laptop, shown here http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/hp-presa...7-30422516.html , i ran rawdump 2.0 with .net framework 2.0 and 3.0,and rawdump recognised the wii/gc disk and collected an appropriate name, but every single time i got one of 2 problems. either i got an ILLEGAL CHARACTERS IN PATH FILENAME error or a ARITHMETIC OVERFLOW error (these may not be exact). anyhow ive tried cleaning the disks, resetting rawdump and the computer. Rawdump cannot seem to get past these errors. it always gets stuck "finding seeds" or some random other crap.
This laptop does not have one of the lg drives listed, but i figured since it recognised the name of my disks, it may have the potential to dump the iso.
If it can dump it, please let me know how i can get it working, if not, please say so.
thanks!

You could always go the WiiKey route and use the SD dump.

Hi there,

I have a slightly different problem with burning the ISO files.

The size of the ISO file correctly says that it's 4,699,979,776, packed size 4,649,979,875.

But when I go to burn, the size actually turns out to be 4,589,936.

Anyone got any ideas why this is?

Thanks.

I don't understand why people are still asking questions about problems with ripping the Wii discs when clearly they don't have the correct LG DRIVE.

LOOK AT THE FIRST POST ON THIS FORUM. It says the specific LG drives you must have. If you vary from this, you are on your own. Stop asking questions as to whether this drive or that drive will work. My advice: Run the Rawdump program firtst and try it. If it doesn't work with you drive, it doesn't work.

The only way to tell if it works is to just try running Rawdump on your laptop with a Wii disc. If it doesn't work, then it won't work.

Your other alternative is to by a USB 5.25" Drive caddy for the LG drive and plug it into your laptop that way. But you have to get the LG Drive first, then work on getting that drive caddy.

4,699,979,776 is the only number you need to remember (or the 79,766 bit - that's how i remember). As long as it displays this when you Right click on the file and go to properties. I would ignore what other programs say. If it works, then it works so I wouldn't even worry.

no dice...checked and .NET framework 2.0 is installed, and I ran Rawdump 2.0 but it doesn't recognize the Wii game I inserted. It would spin up and down and light is blinking for 'bout 5 min, but nothing shows up in Rawdump. I'll look for update firmware, but any help or direction would be appreciated. Thx!
title does not appear till you click Start Dump[/quote]not sure how fast it's suppose to appear, but it took my drive about 10 minutes. it'll spin up and down, up and down, blinking like crazy and then it'll appear 'bout 10 minutes later. guess i'll have to be patient. how long does it usually take for the title to appear after you inserted the game and start rawdump2.0?

I am using a Mac and I want to burn a Wii ISO file... I am using the latest version of toast (8.1) and to be honest with you have never had any problem when it comes to burning ISOs but this time around I get a screen telling me that it is not a compatible ISO and what me to verify the following settings:

Pregap and Postgap Sectors value
Sector Size

and there is a check box that says Scrambled

any one able to tell me what the setting are so that I can burn it.

The file size of the ISO is: 4,699,979,766

Thanks...

Yes you can make a copy of a backup disc.

Nero disc copy

ImgBurn MODE/READ then MODE/WRITE

As I don't have one of the specified LG drives, I am just going to backup my games by downloading them from the net. If I download them from newsgroups and I use maxell 16x DVD-R, should the games work?

@nsx2050

None of us are psychic (At least I don't think any of us are) So it would be impossible to tell you 100% that it will work.

There are allot of variables that can take place when doing a backup...

1)You have downloaded a bad ISO image of the game
Solution: Re-download a different ISO file of the game.

2)Maxell 16x DVD-R are not compatible with your DVD burner or Wii (Possible disc read errors/Game won't boot)
Solution: Find media that are most compatible with DVD Burner/Wii and stick with that media.

3)The download is an out of region game and you do not have Region Override enabled.
Solution: Make sure your Region override settings are enabled.

4)The download is an out of region game that is not compatible with Region Override.
Solution: Download the correct Game region that your Wii is in.

5)Burn speed is to fast
Solution: If having backup issues slow down the burn speed. (Use Nero or ImgBurn)

6)Modchip is not installed correctly
Solution: Make sure the Modchip is installed correctly and all soldering joints are good.

Those are the main issues that you will need to take in consideration if having a burning issue.

As I'm in the uk, if I get verbatim 16x speed DVD-R, and burn PAL games at the slowest speed, then assuming that I have got a good iso and that the modchip is installed correlctly, they should work fine shouldn't they?

Hey Ya
