@hack01

You can buy a Wiikey online. Do a little searching (Use Google) it isn't that hard to find a place that sells it. Or go to the Wiikey website they have a list of resellers on the site.

@flavioo

Wiikey has been saying the update will be out close to a month now and it still isn't out.

Before you heading out to newegg or the net to buy these LG drive, you might want to look at the physical drive to check the model/make. There are several Compaq/Dell and I'm sure other PC that has one of these LG drive installed but branded with something other then LG. I got a Dell system and on the DVD drive it is branded with Hitachi Data Storage with the model GDR-8161B. Lilely these LG got branded with another name so pay attention to the model. I also got another Compaq system that has Compaq on the DVD drive with the model 8160B. I will test this model out since it wasn't mention is 8160 will work or not.

I have these drives and will test it out in a bit:

**EDIT**
1) Sony drive DDU1621 = failed
2) GDR-8161B = success
3) GDR-8160B = failed
4) NEC DV 5800A = failed

I will grab a few more at work and do more testing.

Hi my friends

If someone could help a noob out.

I am having trouple burning my iso images.

1. TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-Lg32A T151 (ATA)
2. Verbatim 16 x DVD-R
3. Have tried both imgBurn and Nero
4. Have wii keey

DVD never seems to burn all the way. I.E there is always a light colored circle half inch in diameter on the inner part of the DVD. Of course - when I try to play the DVD my wii can't recognize it. I think it might be my DVD writer, although it could be related to my mod chip not being installed correctly or how I am copying the DVDs.

If someone can please advise and help a noob.

Cheers

sound to me like you either got a bad burner or media. you see the hlaf in because it burn inside out. Therefore it got corrupt a quarter way through. Were you able to burn before with this drive? and what speed are you burning at? use ImgBurna nd drop the speed to 2.4X. I have been using Taiyo yuden and so far it's one of the best media.

The contents of this file could become outdated very quickly because the modding scene is exploding right now. I will do my best to keep it updated so if you see the date is really old shoot me an email and I will update it or at least say that nothing really revolutionary has happened in the modding scene. Click below to access the tutorial on backing up your Wii ad Gamecube discs. Remember that to play the backups you will need a modchip! The modchip is rapidly changing and I will be outlining this in my next article which is due sometime later this week.

First step in copying your games for backup purposes is to get the right software and hardware. You will need one of the following DVD drives to copy games(no others will work). I received a pm that some people were having trouble locating the drives. If you go to newegg you can't just search for the model for some reason. You have to browse DVD-ROM drives then LG drives. Here is a direct link to the one I have http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16827136088

* LG-8164b
* LG-8163b
* LG-8162b
* LG-8161b

Personally I have the 8164b and have had zero problems. I'm sure the others are fine also. I ordered mine from http://www.Newegg.com.

Once you install this drive into your computer you will need to download a few applications.

*Raw dump 2.0

.net Framework 2.0

* Software to unzip the Raw Dump files.Winrar

Once you download the files above then right-click on the rawdump2.0.rar and select "Extract to rawdump2.0\"
this will make a folder on your desktop called rawdump2.0.

Now insert your Wii or Gamecube game into the LG drive that you have ordered and installed. Then open the rawdump2.0 folder and double click on the rawdump2.0.exe file.

After doing this you will be presented with the following interface. If your wondering what all the buttons are next to me close and minimize buttons it is a program called UltraMon for multiple monitor setups. Just ignore this. I am also running the Zune Windows XP Theme.

The next step is to just click "Start Dump." On my computer this process took just about 2.5 hours. When it is complete you will be greeted with a nice finished message. The file it creates will be in the same directory as the rawdump.exe file. It should be called "Game Name.iso." This ISO is an image of the actual game and is ready to be burned. You can burn this image with many different applications, but I will be providing screenshots for Nero Burning Rom.

This step is very important. You need to check your file and see how many KB large it is. To do this Right-Click on your iso(this is in your rawdump directory) and select properties. It should say,

Nintendo Wii ISO size: 4.37 GB (4,699,979,776 bytes).

Nintendo Gamecube ISO size: 1.35 GB (1,459,978,240 bytes)

All Nintendo Wii and Gamecube images will be this exact byte size. If your Wii image is off by any then you have a bad dump and need to try again.

So next step is to open Nero.

The first step once Nero opens it to just cancel out of the create new dvd/cd/etc dialog. Once you have exited from this dialog you go to Recorder->Burn Image.

After making it this far you are almost done. When you click burn image you will be asked to locate the image. The image will be located [img]in your Rawdump2.0 folder. For me, this is on the desktop.
http://www.wiiville.net/images/stories/w...elect.jpg[/img]

Select the game that you have dumped with rawdump and click open. You will then be presented with the below dialog. Make sure to select a relatively slow burn speed at first to attempt to prevent DRE's(Disc Read Errors). These seem to be common among people that do not use high quality dvd's. For a thread dealing with media check here.

I hope this mini-guide helps you. If you have any questions or I said something wrong please post a comment below. Also stay tuned because as soon as my tri-wing driver arrives I will have a detailed modding tutorial using the Cyclowiz modchip.

" TO bunnyc or anyone, I tried following this input and ran into this problem and wondering if anyone could help me. After buying a new LG-8164b, and rawdump2.0, i put eh Wii game into the LG, and clicked on Start Dump, but then I get this message saying

"Unhandled exception has occured in your application. If you click continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you quit, the application will close immedialtey. Arithmetic operation resulted in an overflow. I think it has something to do with the Microsoft .NET Framework, but I have Microsoft .NEt Framework 2 installed. Can anyone help me? I have to return the Zelda game, and trying to do it for my little brother. So can anyone help?

So I'm really trying not to be the typical noob here, but I have read through 24 pages and found nothing really covering the setup/config disc. Is it necessary to use the config file found on wiikey's site? If so do you have to put in on an sd, or do you burn it to dvd and just insert it in the wii? Thanks any help will be greatly appreciated.
