mrrman,
The program only accepts bin or iso files. You could burn the mdf/mds file to blank media and then make the .iso file of that disc. Or, you could convert the .mdf file to .iso using MagicIso.
I tried to offset it and wen i go through the process of playing back up games it doesnt work. It gets to the swap magic screen and i put in the back up game with slide card but it doesnt work the screens just black with no sound but my other games work that i didnt try to patch.

Hey everyone,
First off, thanks nrk4594 for recommending the y-fix program.
it's certainly been a great help.
I was wondering if anyone knows if the PAL version of "Made Man"
has to be set to something other then the default 48z. The game loads fine, but the alignment is off, as the image appears ghosted vertically .
Also, I patched the PAL version of "Eagle Eye Golf", and the Swap magic 3.3 program tells me it's not a valid PS2 disc. Perhaps these are games that can't be patched.
Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again.

Hey, i'm havin a hard time locating the patched ISO file @ step 3 ...
At step 2, when that window appeared, i pressed OK too quickly and i'm assuming it tells you where the location is at.
And whenever i tried patching it again, it keeps saying it's already been patched... and i tried ADR as well, and it also told me that it's been patched already...help please? Thanks in advance.
Cool.

Hey PoppinKen,
I believe that your Patched ISO file is where ever you have saved the original one before. All it did was patch the original one. You probably saw something of a backup, but don't worry you really do not need that.

Ah, I burned it and got it to load in my ps2 but one huge problem... right after the "Select PAL / NSTC / etc..." screen, I chose them all one by one and the screen just turns dead black. The game I'm trying to burn is DBZ: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 (PAL)...and when i play it, the whole thing is in black and white...so i'm trying to play it in NTSC format.
Got any suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks again in advance.
Cool.

I patched F1 06 but there are audio issues during gameplay where strange sounds are used almost like a mismatch and incorrect use of the SFX. The opening movie does not studder but the audio does periodically drop out of 1 second or so.
Will these audio problems exist regardless due to the NTSC conversion?
Did you (or anyone else) ever find a solution to this problem? I received F1 2006 from Australia today. It seems to play fine on my US PS2 when forced to NTSC, however I'd rather have it saved to the hard drive like all of my other games. The video appears fine but the sound is seriously messed up when played off the hard drive.

I'm in the same boat using HD Advance. I've done some research and I've discovered that if you use the "freeware" version of HD Advnace (HDLoader) there is a DMA option that you can set that will elminate these issues with the sound.
My PS2 is in the process of getting a Crystal Chip 2.0 PRO installed and I'll be working to get HDLoader working and try this out. I'll confirm this 100% and post all the results.

I'll look for a version with a DMA option tonight. I have a Matrix Infinity so I can try it quite easily.
**EDIT**
OK, it works! sort of anyway
I patched a clean version of hdloader. First I used a beta version from hxxp://www.ps2-scene.org/forums/latest-news/46979-hdl-patch-v0-7c-gui-release-9f.html
This allowed to me try the different UMDA and MDMA modes. MDMA appeared to make it work so I tried UDMA. UMDA 0,1,2 all worked. 3 and 4(4 is the default) did not work. I created a custom version with a fixed UMDA setting of 33MB/s but that also failed. I tried it with 22MB/s and that worked. Or it seemed to work, most things were fine however the in game sound still ended up being messed. I tried a few more options, MDMA1(13.3 MB/s) seemed to allow everything to work, but now everything else loads way too slow.
I suppose someone could patch hdloader to have a super slow HD access mode just for F1 2006. Makes me wonder just what they do in the game to get the speed right.
For reference my PS2 is a v3 with a matrix infinity and an original Sony 40 gig harddrive(really a Maxtor rebranded, this is the one included with Final Fantasy)

Does anyone managed to backup FFXII ? I have a PAL game that I want to play on my NTSC PS2.
I can manage to get the game running in black and white with the swapdisc (select Normal Mode). But if I select the NTSC Mode, I have the colors but the intro freezes 1 second later....
So I would like to know if anyone managed to backup that game and run it without any problem

HELP! nrk4594 i tried burning Resident Evil 4 and i put it in my7 ps2 slim and it says please insert a playstaion or playstaion 2 disk. i use the PS2 PAL TO NTSC PATCHER WITH Y-FIX V1.06 BETA patch the iso file from dvd decryptor. i am using dvd5's are u supposed to use dvd9's because some games for ps2 arnt dvd9's. i also tried killzone and that didnt work. i followed your directions directly from your post. i have burn through 3 disks trying different things and nothing has worked. (DO U NEED A FAT PS2???) plz email at i'manidiot.com edited by ddp or post back or private message me. i will check for updates. any1 else who can answer my problem plz answer
1)Make an ISO file of the game
a)Download and install DVD Decrypter.
hxxp://fileforum.betanews.com/sendfile/1011845169/1/SetupDVDDecrypter_3.5.4.0.exe
b)Run DVDDecrypter.exe
b)Select Mode-->Iso-->Read
c)For the Source, choose the dvd drive that has the game in it.
d)For the Destination, select a location to save the ISO file.
e)Select File-->Decrypt. This will now create the ISO for the game.
2)Patch the ISO file
a)Download PS2 PAL TO NTSC PATCHER WITH Y-FIX V1.06 BETA
hxxp://www.geocities.com/jayteemaster2003/ps2_pal2ntsc_yfix_source.zip
b)Run ps2_pal2ntsc_yfix.exe
c)Click Browse and select the iso file of the game
d)Select 48 as the Y-Fix offset. You cannot have it perfectly centered because the PAL signal has more lines or resolution than the NTSC signal does. This is as close as you can get. You can raise the offset if you need to see more of the bottom of the screen or you could lower the offset if you want to see more of the top of the screen.
e)I choose to uncheck Make PN Selector
f)Click PATCH FILE. The following screen will pop up.
g)This means that the elf file of the game was backed up to your hard drive. Just click ok and exit the program.
3)Burn the patched ISO file
a)Run DVDDecrypter.exe
b)Select Mode-->Iso-->Write
c)For the Source, locate your patched ISO file. The program patches and overwrites your orignal ISO file. Select your orignal ISO file.
e)For the Destination, select the dvd drive you wish to burn the game.
f)Select your prefered write speed
g)Select File-->Write. This will now burn the game.
