The D2B and D2C refers to the chipset in the Wii console.
In the D2C version they have made it harder to mod the Wii. You can still do it, even though you have to dremmel a bit on the DVD CPU (i´ve bin told).
The WiiKey in stores today supports the D2B chipset and i don´t know if it fully supports D2C since i´m experiencing some problems with my backups. Either the its a chip support issue or my chip is defect.
The "WiiKey team" is working on a firmware update but i dont know if it will give extra support for D2C yet. I have sent them a question about this, but that was only a couple of days ago and i haven´t received an answer yet. If anybody here at the forum knows the the answer or knows if my problems could be of a "chip support" nature, i would be happy to hear about it.

I have noticed that when my wii is "cold" and i start it up and put in a backup disc it works fine, if i play for a while, remove the disc and put it in again it won´t read it. Even if i shut it of and start it again it still won´t read it. if i leave it for a while to cool down, it reads the disc again. So i´m thinking about getting a cool station for my Wii.

Okay, I had my Wii modded a couple of weeks ago and have been trying to back up games since. I purchased the LG drive and have tried backing up on tdk media, sony media, and even the verbatim media. All at different speeds. I still cant get my wii to read them. I know my wiikey works because the initial install disc works correctly. Please help; its getting really frustrating and expensive.

It may help to set the regional setting for WiiKey to "on" - if i´m not mistaken i think that off is default.
I also changed the drive speed to 3X after that my backups started to work a little better.
I use RiData 4X wich i burn in 2x speed and Verbatim 16X wich i burn in 4x speed and they work, ok.
As i wrote earlier i have a problem when my Wii gets "warmed up" when it comes to reading backup discs. When i start it and its "cold" then it works better. but after 15 minutes it starts having problems.

I have ordered a cooling station from a pal in Hong kong, he is going to test a few models first and send me one. Maybe if i can get my wii cooler the backups will work better.
Also i have the D2C chipset and from what i know my WiiKey supports the D2B chipset som maybe a future upgrade will correct the issue as well. The reason i think the software for the chip can be the "bad guy" is that, i have friend with a D2B Wii and the discs load 10 out of 10 even when the wii has been on for a hours and hours.
Either that or the WiiKey gets to warm.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but how do I get to the wiikey settings again? When I first had my wii modded, the initial disc worked, but I just tried to insert it into my wii again and it wont read it. Thanks for any help.

Try to let the Wii be off for a while and make sure that Wii24 connect (wireless internet/LAN connection) is of as well - otherwise the CPU never really cools down.

Let it cool down for a while and then start the wii by inserting the disc - it usually works for me when i have had the wii off for 1-2 hours.

1) you could possibly use 0.4 version of rawdump this will eliminate the error

or

2) go into device manager and click on IDE ATA then right click on primary IDE channel and select advanced setting , from there set your transer mode to " PIO only "

this worked like a charm for me hope this helps others
ok guys..

In my Device manager I have two "primary IDE" and within that.. there is a "Device 0" and a "Device 1"

How do I know which one to change.. or do I change both and everything to PIO Only?

Thanks for the advice. I'll give it a try when I get home. Also, dont know if this makes a difference, but when i first got my wiikey installed, i got home and did the whole intial install with the disc without a problem. For the heck of it, I tried to insert the install disc again, and it wouldnt read it.

Hi,

I have read most of the thread in this forum. I just wonder if anyone can help me out.

I have a mod-ed Wii with WiiKey installed couple days ago by a professional. I have an ISO file and try to burn in on DVD. I tried it 3 times using Nero, twice with SONY DVD+R and Once with SONY DVD-R @ 2X and 4X speed. None of the work on my Wii and it will not load up. Can anyone help me out? Really appreciated. Thanks.

Try different media - other than SONY.
And prefer to use -R they should work best on the Wii.

Since Nintendo probably "vacuum" the market for readers to boost production, it´s likely that they use different readers in their consoles, which means that what could work perfect on one console might work less good on another - because of the different sensitivity and calibration on the different readers used.

Also you can try to shut of Wii connect if you have that "on" and let the Wii cool down 1-2 hours and try - i have a problem my self with my Wii after its gets warm - when it comes to loading my backups. Just to see if it helps i thought.

I haven´t got my cooling station yet but when i do i try it and post the result.

Got my wireless sensorbar today though - so nice to remove the orginal :D one cord less.

Hiya,

Don't know if you guys can help me, I just bought my LG GDR8164B drive a few days ago. I've installed it but i'm not sure my PC is recognizing it properly.

I am able to dump the data okay using Rawdump 2.0, so it obviously recognises that it's a DVD drive. But the problems start when I try to burn the iso image.

Basically neither Imageburn or Nero recognise the drive, as far as they are concerned there is no DVD drive at all. I've tried un-installing and re-installing both these programs but have the same result.

Has anyone encountered this problem before?

READ THE GODDAMN THREAD PROPERLY!!!!!! THE LG DRIVES ARE NOT BURNERS THEY JUST READ THE DISC. PEOPLE LIKE YOU SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED ACCESS TO TECHNOLOGY UNTIL YOU LEARN HOW TO BREATHE WITHOUT HEADPHONES ON.

That drive cannot burn dvd's it can only read them.
You need to buy a R/W dvd burner, then nero will find it.

Thanks for your help mrgreen2, I appreciate it when people explain things nice and politely, as opposed to being condescending tossers like connor02 who shouldn't even be on here if he talk to people in that way.

Well excuse me but if you get asked the same question over 50 times you're are about to get a little narky. All it takes is to read the thread PROPERLY instead of the bits you want to read. Then when you are POSITIVE you have all bases covered and it still doesnt work THEN post your problem. Forums have a search button for a reason.
