Hi, I just got my Wii and subscribed to this forum. I have also just recieved my LG drive and attempted my first dump.
Shortly after the dump starts I get an error message.

What is happening??

Okay, I reinstalled the applications and retried it and it is running now (apparently okay).
The reamining time shows as over 3 hours though, with about an hour done. Is this normal?
Thanks.

Ok i just got my LG Drive and i specifically ordered the LG GDR-8164BB. The shipment that came through was this on the bill:
LG Beige 16X DVD-ROM 52X CD-ROM E-IDE/ATAPI DVD-ROM Drive Model GDR-H30N - OEM
The "Select Drive" that comes up on when RawDump is run is this: HL-DT STDVD-ROM GDR-H30N1.00
Whenever i go to dump the disc, it comes up with an error message saying "Error! You Might have a Faulty Drive!!"
Does anyone else get this code? Or did EWaggle totally screw up and send me the wrong drive

okay so i just bought my wii today and i also just ordered the LG 8164b and a wiikey. I was wondering can you burn backed up games or only from the originals.. and this might be in the wrong thread, but i noticed to install the wiikey i will have to do some soldering. Is it difficult to install and how do i know what i have to solder?? If anyone could help out that would be appreciated.

I have copied a couple of wii games so far using rawdump 2.0 without any problems. They have all burned and played flawlessly. However, I was just trying to copy Spiderman 3, and three times this error message has come up, each time after the iso had dumped approximately 1950mb. I have tried continuing the dump after the message; quiting then restarting rawdump and continuing the session; and restarting my comp. and starting fresh. In each case the dump would fail and the same message would come up. Any suggestions would be appreciated! The message is as follows:

Hey krislaw, I just wanted to offer a suggestion that worked for me cause I'm a total newbie but managed to figure out your problem. You might actually have the right drive (check the label that is actually on the LG drive you got) but your CONNECTOR PINS may not be securely attached. Make sure all your connections are nice and tight.
When I first got my LG drive I hooked it up to my laptop computer through an external enclosure and I got the same problems: the drive was listed as a different name, Rawdump wouldn't read a disc, and actually the drive wouldn't read ANYTHING! It was listed under device manager but as the wrong thing (I think it said GDR8144 instead of GDR8164). When I figured out it wasn't reading ANYTHING, I opened up my drive/external enclosure and then found out that my connections weren't really fastened the right way...the ones that were the problem were the ones with the tons of pins you have to connect.
After I connected it my drive TOTALLY works...it's now Rawdumping Zelda: Twilight Princess as we speak with no problems. I still have to see if my backup copy works and can function on my Wii, but if you are one of those people getting the "Error! You might have a Faulty Drive" messages when you use RawDump, check the connections first before you get upset that you got the wrong DVD drive.
As an unexpected bonus when I thought I got the wrong DVD drive, I called Newegg back and instead of accepting the DVD drive back they just refunded the price of the DVD drive and gave me a $20 coupon to cover shipping...so I basically got a $40 credit a Newegg for something I thought was there fault but was actually my fault!!! I guess it pays to be a computer novice/stupid like me.

However i was able to find a store 20 mins away that sells them. As of now i have already succussfully ripped metriod prime 2 and wario ware. Both work fine. Im ripping Zelda as we speak! Thanks to everyne with their help. Appreciate it.

Wiikey SD unit
This is a unit that you put in the Memorycart interface from the cube in your Wii. Here's a picture of a homemade idea:
You can also buy them then they look just like the original GC memory card.
This tool in combination with the Wiikey, makes it possible to Dump Wii/ GC games trough your Wii. The only problem is most Memorycards are very slow... sow it can take a moment (wii games 10 hours :S)
Wii + Wiikey = WiiFun :P

Check your local small computer stores! I'm from Canada and I got my LG GDR-8164B and its external enclosures from Canada Computer Store, got it cheap too and saved me from paying shipping fee if ordered online.

Does anyone have experience with whether or not the TSST burner inside Dell 6000's work or not? I've tried multiple media and it doesn't seem to work for me.
At this point I'm inclined to believe it's the burner that's working and I'll probably go with the Pioneer 112D as has been suggested in this tread.
Any advice from the Dell laptop DVD burner users?
