I'm getting around 13kb max download.
I'm currently uploading around 26kb.
Here's my set up
a Motorola SB5100 modem
a DI-624 router(followed the instructions from DI's website, set up a static IP and made a virtual sever from 6881-6887 according to portforward.com)
Using BitTornado
Win XP firewall( set exceptions from port 6881 to 6891 both TCP and UDP)
Symantec Corporate Firewall(Turned Off)
Even after I turn off XP firewall I still get around 13max
Please Help!

Hey everyone! Great thread! I have very slow download speeds using Azurues .5-3kb/s and 536B/s upload. After months of trying anything and everything on this forum and working with my ISP (Suscom) They finally admitted at the local office that they are throttling P2P. Main office swore they were not. I thought changing ports would get me around this issue. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help. I am running XP sp2 3.5ghz p4 2 gig mem and 10k rpm HD. Suscom is 5 mb down with 512 up.

I did everything on this forum. I now get Green smily faces, and I am downloading at speeds higher than 2kb/s
NOW, I have problems. I get high speeds, went up to 65kb/second, but it instantly goes down to 3kb as soon as it reaches that. also, as soon as it reaches 20kb/second, it goes down to 8 or 3. sometimes it goes to 0, and it starts climbing again..... I need some help. I need to format a pc, and need Norton GHOST fast.
Any fast help will be greatly appreciated.

If you are getting a GREEN smiley face, everything is working properly. Then there is a different problem if you are still getting slow speeds.
If you are getting a continuous yellow, there is a problem with the router, etc. Goto page 1 of the thread, and follow the steps.

breadloon, I have the exact same problem. My cable tech told me that the way they are throtling P2P (i.e. Bittorrent) is that they allow for a certain percentage of there total connection speed for P2P. This means that everyone using BT must share a very small percentage of the available bandwidth. the more people using P2P the slower your speed will be. I hope this helps place a face on the problem. contact your service provider and ask if they are throtling P2P. Then view your contract and fight the monopoly.

I'm using ABC, and have Comcast High Speed with 4 megs download. When I download from the web, i get speeds of 500 KB/s, but using Bit torents i get speeds of 3-7 KB/s. I use a Motorola cable modem that is connected to a Belkin router, then to my computer. I have set the ports in ABC to 52881-52899 and forwarded them on my router, but i still get slow downloads. The download is even green. right now its at 1.6 KB. any suggestions?

Hello. I've been through the first ten pages of this topic and I didn't find anything that could help my situation so I thought I'd just post a question.
As with everyone else, I'm having downloading speed problems. I can't seem to get to 10kb/s EVER when using Azureus. I don't have WinXP, I have WinME. I have Verizon DSL and a Westell Modem. Does anybody have any ideas of what I could do to remedy this problem? Thanks in advance.

for all you people that are having speed problems...
-if ur on a dial-up connection and are only getign 0-3 KB/s downlaod, this is average.
-I use ABC (Yet Another Bittorrent Client) and under preferences i can specify through which ports i connect throw. since i was always having slow downloads on highspeed internet, i used custom ports and forwarded those on my router...ex: 53881-53899 make sure to forward both TCP and UDP. This might help since some internet providers will block the default ports for P2P. As for how to forward your ports, refer to your manual, I know i had some trouble with it, since it is called Virtual Servers on my belkin router.

Wildcard2 most default passwords are admin, password or left blank. If it has changed without you knowing you can unplug your router for a few minutes. Then your router will revert back to the factory settings. Try one of the passwords again or look in your manual for the default password.

I've been using bit torrent (Burst!) for quite awhile now and there was a point in time the speed went up to 65kb/second. But just a month back, it's down to 5kb/speed. Can anyone help?
I'm using the Burst programme and I'm using the broadband 256k modem (Alcatel Speedtouch USB modem). Currently I'm still using win98.
Also, I've tried the solution on the 1st page but the problem is my connection timed out when I typed in my ip address into the address bar.

OK, I'm hoping someone can help me here, beacuse the lives of a computer and a window paine are at stake!
I'm using Bit Tornado and have been doing for about a year now. I'm on Tiscali and they've just upgraded me to 512kps Broadband. I was downloading something on Thursday and it was rocketing along at about 40kB/s, which is the best I've ever gotten from it. When I came back to it Friday morning my connection had been lost so I reconnected and bang! My downlaod rate droped to 2kB/s.
I've tried all sorts; opened ports, tried different ports in case Tiscali had blocked up the regular ones, I even installed Azureus to see if it help, but all to no avail!
I'm now trying to download a documentry and I'm connected to 35 peers and 6 seeds and my little light is green, but I'm downloading nothing! I meen 0kB/s!
I've tried everything, even scanned my system for spyware/viruses. And, I'm not a newbie to BT, so I've fiddled with my settings and done everything I can think of to get it working but...I'm just out of ideas now. I've searched all over the place but I can't find a solution.
Any suggestions?

WSell, if you ever do see this post, i think I have your answer, though it isn't good news. Judgeing by the information you provided, i can tell that your download is being capped. Tiscali is notorious for doing this.
A download cap is simply a restriction set on your IP address which limits the speed of download for a certain application. How do they do it? Well, i'm not sure, but i think it has to do with the headers being sent by bittorent, and Tiscali can somehow read them and limit the stream.
I dont know any way to get around that, other than by switching your broadband provider. I'm sure there is a way, I just don't know it.
Another thing, I can tell that you have been capped, because a 40d/l speed is mediocre for your connection. You should expect around 150-200.

I have a linsky BEFSR41ver3 router, I tried keeping the user name blank and password admin:. Also I never set up a user name or password for my router. I can't get into the port configuration site to forward my ports. A red screen comes up that says 401 Authorization Required: This server could not verify that you are authorized to access. Either you supplied the wrong credentials(e.g., bad password), or your browser doesn't understand how to supply the credentials required. I don't understand it, any suggestions would be appreciated.
