DVD+Rw's and DVD-RW's don't work well at all with the PS2. Use DVD-R's. Yes you need some type of mod to play PS2 games.
1. Q. How do I burn PS2 games?
A. Use DVD Decrypter. Guide: http://www.angelfire.com/games6/easytutorial/dvddec/dvddec.html Burn at 4x on an 8x DVD-R.
2. Q. Does the type of media I use matter?
A. YES: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/3/240341 If you're too lazy to read, use Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Ritek, Sony, TDK, Maxell, Sony or Phillips DVD-R's. Avoid Memorex, Staples, Imation, etc.
3. Q. Do I need some type of mod to play PS2 backups or imports?
A. Yes you need a modchip: http://teammodders.com/ps2_mc.php?ex=2 Swap Magic: http://swapmagic3.com/ Memory Card Exploit (Doesn't work with v.11 PS2 and later): http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/109289 HD Loader: http://www.hdloader.com.au/hardinstall#prepare or
HD Advance: http://www.hdadvance.com/hd_advance_how-to-use.htm

Quote: DVD+Rw's and DVD-RW's don't work well at all with the PS2. Use DVD-R's.
RW format Will NOT WORK because the ps2 laser cannot read them properly.
I have no problems using +r media.
The ONLY dvd MEDIA'S I use for PS2 games,
Are Verbatim (MCC) +r and Fujifilm (YUDEN) +r
Possunt Quia Posse Videntur.

That usually means there's no disk in the drive. Did you select your DVD burner from the menu?

@Pirated Yeah I hated high school personally pirated lol. Don't kill yourself just yet. You'll get this backup thing to work. What kind of burner do you have?
@Dude3. Glad you got ratchet working. The word Matrix means you have a Matrix Infinity modchip. It's an excellent chip, the same one I have. It has nothing to do with DVD-R's.
@D rock 29 What kind of burner do you have? How did you get your backups to work before? The only way I know of to get that error is if there is no disc in your DVD Burner. Can you burn with any other programs like Nero or Alcohol 120%?

Well there's not much to it. Rip it to your HD with DVD Decrypter, then burn it to a better DVD-R. http://www.supermediastore.com has some great deals on Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, and Ritek. I just got my 100 pack of Taiyo Yuden DVD-R's today. Just set the read to speed to 1x. It'll take 45 minutes or so to finish, depending on the size of the iso. Then burn it to DVD-R at 2x or 4x. That'll work fine. I ordered these: http://www.supermediastore.com/taiyo-yuden-silver-thermal-8x-dvd-... TY is the best you can get. Got em for $41 with shipping. I saw a pack of Imation DVD-R's at Wal-Mart the other day for $46. FYI Imation is the cheapest most God awful media you can find.
