I just made a straight burn of True Crime NYC and it works fine. You would have to rebuild it with CD/DVDGen. Nero can't handle files over 2GB's. It shouldn't need rebuilt. Try burning slower. If that doesn't work, then rebuild.

With CD/DVDGen: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/210515

56. Q. I downloaded a PS2 game and I have files like Game001.rar, Game002.rar, Game003.rar, where's the iso?
A. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/207335

Good Deal Pirated enjoy True Crime Streets of NY. I read the game freezes every now and then. So if it freezes during game play, don't panic, it's just a bug in the game.

I take it the only way to play Burned PS2 DVDs are with a modded PS2 and swapmagic?
Is there any devloped software that emulates a PS2's format into a DVD disk using an MDS/ISO/etc type file?

Either a mod chip or Swap Magic.

www.divineo.com has Swap Magic if you want that. They also have a good deal on the DMS4 PRO for 45 US Dollars, the best I've seen. And if you don't want to install it yourself, www.norcalmods.com has an awesome deal for that. I think it's 30 USD for installation and 15 USD for ground shipping. Not sure how much the shipping is at divineo.com though, I think it comes from somewhere in Canada though.

I've successfully backed up GTASA. The other's I know other people have backed up. Remember the rebuild cutoff for Swap Magic is around 4.38GB's. My modchip likes EA games rebuilt. I rebuilt NBA Live 2006, NHL 2006, Madden 2006, and NASCAR 2006. Pirated what happens. TCNYC doesn't boot at all or freezes? Swap Magic can be picky, my buddy had some problems when first playing a backup of RE4. Even an original copy of the game will freeze, according to what I've read.

10. Q. What does rebuilding an iso mean?
A. It means that some games 4.36-4.38GB's may need rebuilt to work with Swap Magic. Games over 4.38GB's will need rebuilt. This isn't true for ALL games over 4.38GB's and differs on a game to game basis. There is no need to rebuild games if you have a modchip.

11. Q. How Do I rebuild games?
A. With Nero and Isobuster (works as long as no single file is over 2 GB's): http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/197949
With CD/DVDGen: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/210515

Almost every game out for the PS2 has been backed up successfully. Try it for yourself rather than asking about a laundry list of games. If you can't backup the games, then post about it. I don't know pirated, are you doing anything differently? All I know is my friend had issues with Swap Magic at first too. There are some cheap presses of it. Try it 10 or 15 times and see how many it boots.

I have used DVD Decrypter to try and backup some ps2 games. I recorded at a the slowest speed possible and when I use swap magic with a flip top, I keep getting that the disk isn't a ps2 disk. Also, I have to use the cd-rom swap magic b/c the dvd-rom disk for some reason won't load. Is the problem with the swap disk (cd instead of dvd) or am I going wrong somewhere else?

@brm What type of DVD-R's are you using? You can't load DVD games with the Swap Magic CD disk. You need to load those with the Swap Magic DVD disk. Is your Swap Magic disc dirty or scratched?

@Pirated That sucks man. I think you're probably burning the discs right. Due to the nature of your PS2, it could be your lens. It doesn't make sense that it works one day and not the other, if you're not doing anything different. If it works on your cousins PS2, then at least you'll have a better idea if it's your PS2 that's the problem.

@Phatjiggy How big is the iso? It might be a DVD-9 or dual layer game. In that case you would need to rebuild the game to DVD-5 or single layer. Usually people do this by cutting out movies and extras. There is no tutorial, as this process is different for every DVD-9 game.

What type of media are you using. You need some type of mod to play PS2 games, like Swap Magic or a modchip.

1. Q. How do I burn PS2 games?
A. Use DVD Decrypter. Guide: http://www.angelfire.com/games6/easytutorial/dvddec/dvddec.html Burn at 4x on an 8x DVD-R.

2. Q. Does the type of media I use matter?
A. YES: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/3/240341
If you're too lazy to read, use Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Ritek, Sony, TDK, Maxell, Sony or Phillips DVD-R's. Avoid Memorex, Staples, Imation, etc.

3. Q. Do I need some type of mod to play PS2 backups or imports?
A. Yes you need a modchip: http://teammodders.com/ps2_mc.php?ex=2 Swap Magic: http://swapmagic3.com/ Memory Card Exploit (Doesn't work with v.11 PS2 and later): http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/109289 HD Loader: http://www.hdloader.com.au/hardinstall#prepare or

Tokijin - I thought that using the cd disk might have been the problem, I may just have a bad DVD swap magic disk. I'll get that fixed. I'm using Sony DVD+R disks. Do you have to use -R disks? If so anyway around that other than getting a -R writer? Thanks.

Yeah it seems like more dual layer burners support the DVD+R format, I'm not exactly sure why. If you're using Swap Magic with the 50 cent game, you'll need to shrink it to DVD-5 or single layer. If your using a modchip that supports DVD-9 games, then you can burn to a DL DVD. Search the forums and google, I'm sure there's a guide for shrinking that game. Newer PS2's should work fine with DVD+R's. If it's an older model, you'd want to go with DVD-R's. Booktype it with DVD Decrypter and you should be fine.

53. Q. What is Booktyping?
A. Booktyping is the ability to burn a DVD+R so it that appears as a pressed DVD-ROM in any DVD-ROM drive it's inserted in. If you booktype DVD+R's, this allows for greater compatibility with most stand alone DVD players, including your PS2. Your burner has to support booktyping (most newer ones do).
