Thanks for the quick reply. I was actually referring to the DVD Backup tool found on config 1.2. This option is for SD dumping right? Is this found on the "official" config 1.4(US) now available on the wiikey website as opposed to the leaked version?

Thanks.
You mean does it look like this?

That's a new one on me - though I'm not saying it's unheard of cos there's only so many posts one can read... I assumed that was just for analysing disk reads.

Have you tried changing the disk speed?

No I havn't, should I run it a 3x. Will that affect any other game playability? What is the Wii standard?

I believe 6x is default - I'm just suggesting an option to experiment with really.

It's an option to try and remap debug drive commands to suss what it's doing and "cool" as in what?

The wiikey facilitates what it says on the official website. That's it.

Devmode - dunno... I woudln't unless you were desperately trying anything to sort out a problem or trying to understand what's happening with your drive when it's reading a disk... I don't have a clue myself - I'm making an educated guess based on a my limited understanding of what I read here and there.

Outside of Wii and GC backups - GC Homebrew can be run from disk - you'd have to go investigate what's available in that line. The wiikey itself doesn't provide applications - it injects code so disks can be read by the drive, including ones that are not official (original disks). Like I said - it's what the official site tells you it does.

OK, turned DEV back off, originals still worked. Tried 3x, but it didn't help any of my backups. Tried re-burning at 4x using imgburn, and still same problem.

Well I'd go with all defaults now and maybe try burning at 8x (or 2x if they aren't already) m8... I dunno what else to suggest - that's a strange thing you're getting where it drops back to the Wii menu when trying to run some backups. I don't think I've seen that before - Is there any common denominator with the disks that don't run - like all out of region for instance?

No, all backups are in region and burned on Verbatim DVD-R. All burned at difeerent times. Some older and some newer. When I insert the backup, it shows in the menu. I click on it and press start. The screen goes black like it's gonna start, and then it resets back to the Wii menu. Any suggestions on media? Don't know what else to try.

im haveing problem with config 1.9sUS aka 1.4us setup( not leak version) as the disk wont read on my wii 3.2u

when i burn it nero said something of the size value is not correct so i ignore it and still doesnt work. i know some old version would say that too but it worked fine. any solution to fix this or is it the file is corrupted since the RAR file is slightly larger than the ISO by 1k (i have redownloaded a few times same thing) i have try the PAL version it wont read as well but without the incorrect value size issue.

i have just tried the leak version instand and it works flawless.

one question does anyone know what does the option "DEV" means or for?
should i turn it on or leave if off.

imgburn is best for all Wii disk burning.

Also scroll up... if you read the last page or so of this thread you can see some discussion I've contributed to about DEV mode. Also I only know the little I know about it cos I use search on this forum and google ;)

i have done a little google as well, however i still dont understand what DEV really is, expect notice of someone else have posted in order for "block update" to work it would need DEV mode on, which i found it to be true for me as well.

for Imgburn, i have try that same problem as nero, for me nero is better as i have found my DVDs and DL have burn better on it working on my wii.

Here's the solution

1. Extract the downloaded archive in winrar
2. Open winrar and then open the extracted cfg.1.9x.us.iso file
3. Double-click that file in winrar
4. Extract what looks to be the same file to a different location
5. Burn!

Found it from here: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=81693

It would depend on media and burner & speed as well - you may have been generally more fortunate with nero with your setup and choice of media. eg. One of my burners won't even look at a cheap Aone DL but the other one does and they work fine. I have used nero on some media when imgburn didn't work and it did the job but on Verbatim DVD-R (SL) imgburn works all the time and nero isn't as reliable. That is why most ppl use Verbatim DVD-R with imgburn @4x with most burners.

no worries... in my situation, the discs were not being read once I used the 1.4 config disc.. I was saying that in the event that you cannot get the wii to load the games or they only play for a few moments, that's when I would recommend putting the config 1.2 disc in.. that's all..

in conclusion, I would update to 1.9s and use config 1.4,, if this doesn't work, then I would leave the firmware as is, but use config 1.2 to turn region override back on..

Hope it goes well..

Once that is done, then load config 1.4 and configure approapriately. If you get a similar problem to myself where the games would load but the drive would have a hard time reading the discs, whether original or not, I suggest burning a copy of Config 1.2 in your region and turning the region override on and reset the console..

hope it goes well.

I will update to 1.9s eventually. For that I will have to install the 1.9s update from 1.9g. Then configure the firmare using 1.4 in that order. That is what I gathered so far but where does the 1.2 fit in there?

Almost got everything understood. Thx for the awesome help guys

He was already running with region override on

Are you suggesting the 1.4 config isn't applying settings or the extra settings in 1.4 mess up disk reading in a way 1.2 doesn't, cos he seems to have been through every combination including DEV on and off?

I just got my Wii. I had a question too. So I'm updating from 1.9g to 1.9s, on my 3.2u Wii. Would these be the correct steps:

1. Install the 1.9s update
2. Update with the 1.4 config file

and this is where I get lost. At this point, do I insert 1.2 config file if i need to turn region override on?

You DO NOT update with any config disk - you configure the wiikey. 1.4 is supposed to be the disk to configure 1.9s so you'd use that. The only reason for going back to 1.2 is if you couldn't get 1.4 to run because region override was off and stopping config 1.4 from being read. If 1.4 is read then that will turn region override on anyway.
