Dunno cos you don't say what your Wii is PAL, USA or what? - If you can update online do that first. If you have a PAL wii and the game is PAL then you should be ok to update.

Anything else use the MK thread to read up on what you need to do.

Since I've never done an update before, is it okay to go straight to 1.9s? Would I NEED to use the config disc for anything? I'm a little apprehensive, since most backups seem to work great right now and I don't want to screw anything up... any help is appreciated.
1. Get updated to 1.9s.
2. Ensure your console has the latest frimware by updating online.

Config shouldn't really be needed if you're running SSBB USA on a USA console but you never know until you try. Any probs with SSBB use the SSBB thread (cos you might well struggle). Any wiikey issues use this thread.

Yeah sorry. It's a PAL wii an a PAL game. I've tried using with WiiUR on the disc as well as not using it, but I just get a blank screen and I updated to 3.2E via wifi before even trying to load the game.

there's the MK thread - it clearly states it has an update and FYI no patching or messing/blocking of the disk is required for PAL on PAL - I know cos I play it. Any issues post there.

Alright, I'm still having problems with my Wiikey. I've made sure my Wii is compatible with Wiikey, the modding is done correctly, the chip is not faulty, and I can't for the life of me think of any reason why normal games only occasionally work and backups don't work at all.

Is it possible that my lens have been broken? Because it was fine before the modding, although I haven't tried playing a normal game without a Wiikey in the machine.

If it's not the lens, is there ANY OTHER possible reasons that my Wiikey is not working. And if it is the lens, what can I do about it to fix it?

Hi guys, I have 2 noobish questions.
I have a JAP Wii, v2.2. I just updated my Wiikey to 1.9s successfully. I then loaded a backup SMG [PAL]. It prompted me to update, which I (stupidly) said 'OK', and half of the progress bar was filled until I suddenly realised I was updating using PAL on a JAP. I panicked, then switched it off--now I am half-bricked, in that I cannot load up a proper Wii Settings screen. I'm not really affected by it; it was all in Japanese and I never had to change settings. However, I still haven't played SMG yet and I'm very eager so:

1. Should I resume the update on the PAL SMG? Would I suffer any more damage?

2. All I want is to play an English-language version of SMG; I don't care what region. What should I do?

Please help; thanks!! :D

If you are fully updated - wiikey 1.9s with the lastest firmware for your Wii then all originals should run fine. Issues with backups could be down to media. Burn Verbatim @4x using imgburn. General issues of reading could be down to lens. At your own risk you can try a DVD lens cleaner - they are fairly cheap. A replacement lens is about £20 to £25 / $40 to $50. When you say the modding is done correctly, I assume you mean professionally or by someone who is definitely competent. Even so it doesn't mean that the chip hasn't subsequently developed a dry joint where contact is intermittent and that should really be checked first.

Chances are all the damage that is already done and no further updating will happen with that disk. In other words I think the semi-brick is the worst that can happen if you try and play the game. You will need a game disk with 3.2J on it to fix the issue and there' not one out at this time - It was though MK would have it but apparently not.

Thanks for your help JuniR. I heard Wii Fit cures the semi-brick, but some say it comes with side-effects that are terrifying. Anyway, I just inserted the PAL SMG, and after saying OK to update, this Japanese message pops out (I'm trying to find someone to translate for me). I'm Chinese, so I can read the Japanese kanji, and it involves the Wii system, being chipped and updating... :S So I didn't agree to it (it's some disclaimer, I think) until I know what it's about.

I also heard that NTSC-U SMGs are less harsh than PAL ones. Anyone know anything about that? In addition, I found THIS table. For the US SMG, it says to use some Language Patcher... Anybody with experience on that?

Lastly, I would like to know how probable it is that my semi-brick will be cured by a future 3.2J game?

Hey guys, i got 1 last question.
I fixed my semi-bricked wii JP with a Wii Fit Jp ver.
But somehow I got duplicate channels. I thought that could only happen if I updated from another region?o_O

gggu - I'd say it's very probable 3.2J will be on disk at sometime but only Nintendo really knows.

Are you sure they weren't there before? In any case you can use the dupe channel remover in the sticky to get rid of them.

Really? Just duplicate channels.. is it a serious problem though?

Anyhow, I'm going to try NTSC-U SMG with WBB, along with Game language patcher and generic patcher or whatever it's called... but I wish I had a PAL or NTSC Wii so I could keep up with you guys!!

Not really serious..just wondering how in the world i got dupe channels using my own region's games... I think i'll just be using the remover.
Thanks :)

Hi, this is my first time posting in this forum, i've been looking over all the wiikey resources trying to find an answer but so far have had no such luck.

Basically, I installed a wiikey myself, but have had a lot of problems with it i.e it won't play any kind of config/update/back-up what so ever. Originals however do/did play untill i Had enough of the wiikey not working properly, and thought out of all the things to go wrong it was most likely my soldering :-( so decided to remove it. Anyway, whilst removing the chip i accidentaly lifted up pad number 6, I have found another thread where a similar thing happened and the guy soldered directly to the chips IC, ( tbh if i attempt that i think i'll prob end up shorting something...) is there anyway of salvaging the point where the pad was by scratching back some plastic to reveal the trace?? I'm not very clued up on this very much, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all..

I'm a complete novice with consoles. I bought a Wii (JAP version)but do not know what Modchip was used, and have been running backup games for 6-7 months without any probs. I used a backup JAP version of Mario Kart and i am recieving an error 001 on a black screen after the initial loadup screen. The disk updated my system to version 3.2J, but do not know how to update the firmware and need advice on what i could do.

All my other games are still working.

Thanks in advance.

This also happened to me and have semi-bricked my wii. I fixed this by using the update on SSBB Jap version. Once fixed, i updated it online so it has the latest firmware and I can play the SMG US version. PAL SMG, I think has issues on Jap Wii. See the compatability list.

Hey Iceman. Are you from Hong Kong? Haha... a lot of Wii owners here run run backup games and own chipped Wiis. Anyway, the point is most Hong Kong Wiis are chipped with Wiikey, as far as I know. But regarding your question, have you tried using the Generic Wii Patcher? It eliminates error-001 in most cases. Also, you may want to take a look in the MK forum.

More JAP-Wii owners should speak up! We need help!!

Hi Miotot. Thanks for your post; it's given me renewed hope! I don't have SSBB yet, but are you sure it will prompt an update anyway? I'm asking because I'm guessing (wildly) that SSBB updates to an older firmware version. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

You see, my situation is that I did not allow my SMG update to finish; I unplugged my Wii's power halfway through. So I have the additional worry of whether the update is fully installed, because although my settings don't come up, after SMG prompts to install again, a new message in Japanese pops up about Wii and chipping, and I have to click 'agree to something'. So... do you suggest I stick in SMG [PAL] again, install that update, then update with Jap SSBB?

Also, what did you do to your US SMG? Brickblocker, patching??

I've a WII (PAL) (with wiikey), updated to 3.1E, i've mario kart (PAL), i've updated with it (but in the settings screen it still show 3.1e), i still can play...without any problems, with originals and backups

Now, i would like to update my wiikey to 1.9s...

I've tried with nero on a memorex dvd (i always use this dvds), and it goes everything right on nero, i tried to insert it inside the wii, it started working, first time the bar is runned, when it reaches 100%, after a bit, it says "error: failed (something which i don't remember), test your connections and than try again", so i tried to make a dvd with the same iso but filechopped, again same error...

What's the meaning of this "check your connections"? should i be connected to the internet for using this update?

Other ways to update?i really don't have a gamecube pad...

Should i try Non-padded early-leak images ? (what's this?O_O)

when i filechopped the dvd i used this one:

Direct Download Links from Wiikey.cn:

Wiikey 1.9s update (PAL)

should i use:

Padded/Filechopped images:

1.9s PAL

or this WERE CHOPPED before?

thanks for helping

Ah a little thing, can i use a DVD-RW to test all this things?because i burnt 4 dvds and i can throw them out of the window...:D

Hi everyone, I have a bit of a problem, it appears my wii is semibricked, I cant go to the system settings, my brother decided to play Mario Kart and ran the update (a friend of his had it so he borrrowed). I have a NTSC-U wii which up till that point I only updated it through WiFi. So now I apparently have the 3.2E update on my wii, is there anyway to unbrick it? like using the wii update manager or something? oh and by the way I have a wiikey 1.9g which still plays all games perfectly.

Well thanks in advance.

I hope im posting in the right thread, this is where i got redirected too, so if not let me know. Anyways, I just got the wiikey and installed it on my wii. I had/have the wii 3.2 firmware, and dont know what wiikey firmware i have. When i put in the original brawl disc it plays, i think this would mean that the wiikey firmware is 1.9s. I have burned multiple config discs multiple different ways using file chop and GCOS at x4 speed with imgburn and clonedvd. Im using sony dvd-r and already tried memorex dvd+r both with no success. Could this mean that i soldered the wiikey incorrectly or that im not burning the config discs correctly? Any help is appreciated, Thanks.

I'm also a newbie here so for those senior member please correct me if I'm wrong. SSBB Jap is 3.1J which is higher than SMG PAL which contains 3.0E. So I think it is safe to update your Jap wii with SSBB Jap. For the SMG, in order to play it in english, I make use of the wii language patcher but didn't patch it with brick blocker as my Jap wii (3.2J) is already in the latest firmware so you won't be prompted with the update. You can also look into this link for the compatability list between NTSC-US and PAL games with JAP Wii http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/index.php?t...ty_List:_NTSC-J

Was the config file an official one from wiikey.cn? If so, you need to extract it twice to get the REAL iso file (for some reason the wiikey playing a trick here for US config). Therefore, you need to open the first extracted iso file with WinRar again, you'll see another iso file contains "1.9x" in the file name. Then extract that one, filechop it and burn.

I have a Wii with 3.2J firmware and wiikey 1.9s. I used wiibrickblocker and regionfrii 1.21 on my super smash bros brawl iso and burned it on imation dvd-r. It would just go into a black screen with no sound when I start it. Why does this happen?
