To succesfully rip a Wii game you need one of the specific LG DVD-ROM DRIVES (READERS) that read Wii discs. Once that is complete ANY DVD BURNER WILL BURN THE WII IMAGE YOU HAVE ALREADY CREATED OR DOWNLOADED. THAT IS PRETTY MUCH IT. TWO DRIVES ONE READER ONE WRITER.

thanks.
That's because it isn't there anymore at least it wasn't when i looked. These drives are gonna disappear fast (Just like the samsung drives that read the Xbox 360 discs, but that is another thread entirely.) once full realisation kicks in. ebay is probably your best bet thats where i got mine from and paid half the price a lot of other places wanted for them. HFS i just looked on ebay for the LG drives some loser here in Oz wants $109 for one. Exactly what i said has happened here anyway once people start realising what these drives do they jack the prices up. I only paid $20.

I now have the LG 8164B. Could someone please let me know how I can use it with my notebook. I have read in this thread that people have connected it to their notebooks via USB but mine doesn't have a USB connection so I must need to buy another component.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Im not sure but i think you need some kind of IDE to USB convertor or maybe to buy an enclosure for it similar to an external HDD has. Something like this perhaps.

Hi! I am a mom who purchased the Wii system last week for my kids. Now the Super Mario Paper is not working. I want to burn copies. I read your articles and found them interesting. Can someone help me find an extrnal drive that will read the Wii games. I found some software that claim you can copy games. Please help me with a step by step things I need to purchase and how to copy the games for my kids. These disks get scratched so easily.
Thank you.

Hi All,
LG DVD-ROM (GDR-8164BI)
LG DVD-ROM (GDR-8163BI)
LG DVD-ROM (GDR-8162BB 8163BB)
LG DVD-ROM (GDR-H30NB)
LG DVD-ROM (GDR-H30NK)
I found a website that offer the above drives, will the GDR-8164BI work, inplace of the GDR-8164B or BB?

If the game is recognized and plays your chip is OK.
Sounds like a problem with the dump.
BTW: I have everything burned to DVD-RW, and have not had one game lock-up when playing.

The last 2 letters should just refer to the color of the drive, but I am not 100% certain.

Please read the thread. This has already been discussed in this thread and many other threads. But i would say IMHO Ritek discs do the job for Wii games ok.

Try setting the burn speed to 'Auto' and see what happens!!!
