Do you think some admin could update the links on the original how to guide so they are easier to obtain downloads?

No correction needed that is the correct size for Wii isos if you right click and select properties it will give the size as 4.37GB(4,699,979,776 bytes). Use Alcohol 120% or imgburn to burn. Nero is shite for console isos IMHO.

How can I tell if the Wiikey is working and installed correctly?
I have copied Zelda but it says invalid disc.
I burned the WiiKey 1.3 iso on a Pioneer 111 with Verbatim DVD-R 16x media. I get the same message.
Should the backup load first time I put it in the console or do I need to run the Wiikey Configuration Disc first before backups will work?

hi
can anyone help. i've been told i don't have to have a mod chip to download iso's that i can just do a region change to suit my wii. is this true or if i download an iso do i have to have a mod chip and does it have to be soldered onto the wii. I'm very new at this and don't really understand the a,b,c, of what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

You can download iso's all you want. You will not be able to play the game in a Wii without a modchip physically installed in your Wii.

there's a lot of posts saying that a modchip can brick your wii, have no idea what that means. could you recomend a good modchip for my wii and is it very difficult to install. I bought this wii for my daughter for xmas in the states but am in ire and need to do something as it won't use european games. I'm scared that if I mess up installing the modchip it will crash the wii althogether.
thanks in advance for any advice.

Ive done a fair bit of soldering previous to this, but the size of the wiikey and soldering points are miniscule, far smaller than I expected.
The 5 points on the consolke are about 1x1mm in size so very small and the points are fairly close and I did have two have solder melt together but luckily got it apart.
II used a tip probably slightly too big but I eventually got the job done.
If youre not experienced with an iron then dont even attempt it. I had 2 wires snap off due to the fragility of the wire and even when all done solidly, on reassembly I worried the wires may come away but luckily they didnt and the job's a gud'n.
All Ill say is, if you really wanna do this yourself, be prepared for some small soldering and get a small pencil top and only apply heat in extremely short bursts and the first time you apply heat to the pad, you want that to work, you dont wanna attempt the same spot 20 times as you will do some damage. Just tin the wire, heat it up with the soder n the wire and then put the wire on the pad and just heat for 1-2 seconds and no more.

I have a WiiDuo (or DuoWii) chip. I took the update from SMG, however I did not try to play the game. I was still able to play different backups, but I never tried SMG.
(I did perform the update from a backup of SMG, with my chip installed.)
I read in a different forum that the cyclowiz has the upperhand on other chips, as it is not affected by the SMG security. (I have not tested this; as I just found someone else posting the above information about the cyclowiz.
