well i've tried just about everything to get my wii to play "backups". i think i am going to have to replace my crappy wii bee modchip with a wii key. everyone on here with a wii key seems to have a lot less bull to deal with.

WIIBee sucks!!!!

So here's the deal

I have an HP Windows Media Center PC running XP Service Pack 2. I just
reinstalled Windows.
I have a GDR-146B drive to rip Wii games, and another to rip Xbox 360
games. I have had them both in a computer upstairs for months, ripping
games continually on another older computer.

So I put them both in this my HP PC (making sure they are both
correctly set to SLAVE and MASTER), and installed NET Framework 2.0
and Rawdump 2.0

So I have tried to rip "Manhunt 2" (for Wii) and "Die Hard: Vendetta"
(for Gamecube). Once in a while, Rawdump will not start for a few
various reasons having to do with the NET frame work (saying something
about the arithmatic overloading) , but most of the time it begins to
rip the game, and then the speed will slowly drop until it is in
negative numbers, which, yes, is impossible to actually be true. Right
now, the speed is "-591 MB/hour" and it says it will take "20:17:03"
to rip (20 hours, 17 minutes and three seconds).

I suspect this could be from the NET framework. I didn't install it on
the other computer that was ripping games, it already had it on the
computer. I installed it on this, suspected a bad file, redownloaded
it from another location, and reinstalled it. Still didn't work. So I
downloaded 3.0 that and for some reason when I try to insall it it
won't finish (it has to download something during the install, and it
never goes through ? not quite sure if you're only supposed to use it
on Vista). Regardless, Rawdump is SUPPOSED to work with Net framework
2.0, and that's what I used upstairs, so I'm guessing it's not that I
need Framework 3.0.
Also (in case anyone is wondering) this drive runs and rips regular
DVD's fine. I do not know what the problem is or could be. I guess the
Net framework but it's the same as upstairs. I just don't know. I
don't want to keep it upstairs because it's in my brother's room and
it's on just about the slowest, shittiest computer I have ever seen.
I've looked online for days and I don't know what to do. Does anyone
know anything about this? I tried to give as many details as possible.
If you think I left anything out, ask me. Thanks!

Depends what chip you have in the console. A few people who have gone with the cheaper option of not getting wiikey have found a few of their games wont work proper. Get it right first time get a WiiKey

Think of the Wiikey as the Manchester United of Wii modchips whereas the Wii Bee is like Bristol Rovers. i.e. You get what you pay for. Any good modchip place will have the WiiKey depends where you are, i'm in Australia and found a dealer no problem.

If you want to test a different backup on a different media, you do not need to re-dump it. Just perform a disk copy of the copy.

Will ripping Gamecube games with this method produce the exact same iso as the method using PSO on the Gamecube?

Hi!

I wanted to know if there are any other drives that could possibly read wii games?

My problem is that I just bought a new computer and the LG -81xx series is not compatible with my new computer. I called the local computer store and the person there said something about the LG -H55 or LG-H62, might be able to read and then back up wii games.I wanted to know if there was any truth to what he was saying.

And if not, can you guys give any suggestions? Is my only choice to get an external LG-81xx drive?

Thanks!

1st off, what do you mean "not compatible"?? Don't have room for it? Don't have any IDE slots open?

2nd, no - the alternate DVD-roms the computer store person suggested will not work

3rd, you could buy one (and an external USB enclosure as well) and use it that way

It's not compatible in that my new computer, the place were you hook up the dvd rom is much smaller compared to what is needed for the LG-81xx. It(the plug) won't fit into my new computer.

That doesn't mean it aint compatible. it just means it wont fit in a generic 5 1/4" slot. The previous posts where someone said to buy an enclosure and run it from USB is your best bet. Also as previously posted those drives the so called salesman recommended wont do it as if i recall correctly they are burners as i have the H-62 in my PC, as well as a 8164B and a Samsung SH-D162C. Its a great burner but for reading Wii discs it has to be one of the "special ones"

Okay, thanks for the information so far. But just a few last questions. An enclosure is just soemthing that goes around the dvd-rom, which allows me to hook it up to my main computer through USB?

And if so, these enclosures are model specific? Meaning I have to find one specifically for my previous LG 8163b model?

Thanks guys!
