I noticed a lot of people are trying to find a GDR-8164B but those are very limited in supply now. I found out that the GDR-8082N which is for a laptop works, they have this for a Slim Portable drive using USB 2.0 on ebay at http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...s=tab%3DSelling

I invested in an 8162b dvdram. By the way they are very inexpensive. Installed it, shows up working fine. Was able to down load movies with it. Installed ram dump 2.0 and net.frame. Ok now here?s the problem. After massing around with the dump program I tried to backup Pokémon battle revolution for my sons. When stating the Dump I noticed how slow it was going so I let it dump for 19hrs at this time the position was only at 00005200 on the counter so I canceled it. Looking in the director the ISO file was only 46.5 MB. So I tried another disc that comes with the WII and it came up with this error (Error!!Run DVDinfo in the background or incompatible DVD drive) Please help!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks PS Runing windows XP SP2

Here is a link for a GDR-8164B:

http://www.consolesource.com/ecomm/catal...ups-p-2599.html

They are now $70.00(+S&H)!!! I bought one from the same place 3 weeks ago and they were $40.00 +S&H. I guess they are getting more rare since they are discontinued and they are in demand.

If you get lucky, you can find one at a local computer store, but don't hold your breath. Fellow wii mod scene people have picked most of them up already :(

Weezy

If at first you don't succeed, scream, piss, moan, jump up and down, and try try again!!

Yea...The GDR-81XXB are becoming very rare to find these days...They are out of production and won't be made anymore. I'm currently using the GDR-XXXX slim portable drive with USB connection..It works perfect. I'm sure you can find them on ebay...just use the keyword GDR-8164B

does the wiikey read +R DVDs and -R DVDs?
Also, do the tdk discs of 200 for $40 on sale at cosco work for wii games.
Lastly, are the DVD-Rs better or the DVD +R?

THANK YOU SO MUCH

Sounds like you have an older version of RawDump.
It should only take 2.5 - 3 hours for a game, and the DVDInfo is no longer required. The Modified date of my RawDump.exe file is 2/6/07.

I need a help.

Is there any way to verify wii iso before burn? WinRar 3.70b8 show the message that it is in unknown format.

The situation is this. My wii is already installed with wiikey. I did test it using some DVD´s of a friend and it works fine. I have already updated the wiikey 1.9b. Also I have one DVD LG8161b and I could extract iso´s from my DVD´s originals of wii games. I use Raw Dump 2.0 and it create a complete iso apparently correct. And I use ImbBurn 2.3.20 to extract iso from a backup DVD.
The problem is that I did have no success burning iso´s. I did try burn with two DVD writers, LG and Sony, and on two DVD-R meadias, imation and sony, with ImbBurn 2.3.2.0. I did try burn original iso, one that I download from internet, and also one iso that I extract form other backup DVD that works in my Wii, and my wii does´t recognize.

Hey Wiigame,

Sometimes the DVD+R's will work, but not all the time. I was using $.15 DVD+R discs and had about a 60% success rate. I switched to Verbatim DVD-R disks and have had 100% success when buring @ 4x.

You can do whatever you want, but if you are going to backup a $40 game onto a disk, it is worth it to spend $.40 instead of risking scratching or ruining your $40 original ;)

I found the Verbatim DVD-R's at Best Buy for $20 per 50 pack and they work great. I have heard good reports with other "high quality" DVD-R's, but have not had personal experience.

I have a problem reading the burnt wii iso disc. When i load the disc in, the wii cannot recongnize it. My wii was modded by some store (wii key) and the media im using is HP dvd+r. I also burnt the disc using Nero at 4x (should burnt it at 2x or less though). I've tried burning a few games already(cooking mama, umbrella chronicles, burnout) but none worked! Did the place that i mod my wii rigged the discs or is it just me? Any help would be appreciated, thanx.

Yes it needs to be soldered.

Also if your Wii has the D2C chip, your WiiKey that you ordered ain't going to work.
You can try and find the version of your Wii HERE.

Is it possible to use rawdump to also copy a copied wii disc? I tried it, and an error popped up saying that it is unhandled, but it lets me continue anyways. Also, the name doesnt come up as the game name, it comes up as two figures that look like a different dialect than English.
I want to do this, to copy some of my other wii game that I already have copied.
Please write back with info.

wow i cant believe how much of a difference the media you use will affect the outcome of your burnt disc. I was using hp dvd-r to burn my backup wii isos and it was literally crap. But afterwards, i switched to verbatum dvd-r, it was amazing. Every game that i now burn will work!!! For those who have trouble reading wii isos burnt discs on your wii, i suggest to get better media (verbatum dvd-r)

You don't need to redump the copy, just make a Disk-To-Disk copy using whatever burning software you use.

Thank you

Also, can I play wifi games with burned Wii games on my Wii if it is chipped with the wiikey? Also, can people or Nintendo see that you are using the Wiikey if you play online games that are burned, since I heard something about stealth mode with the other modchips.

THANK YOU FOR THE HELP

Hi Guys I Have a problem backing up some of my games i have an LG-8163b drive and have backed up games suck as cooking mama and red steel perfectly, however i have now tried to back newer games such as Mario Party 8 and Mario & sonic and i cannot get 100% of the way through. after so long it comes up with an error "unhandled exception has occured in your application" i have tried closing that and trying to start again from the point where it failed but it only does 100 mb or so at a time so it would take forever to dump it.

can anyone tell me if they have had any problems with newer games and if they got round it in any way?

Thanks In Advance

Hi everyone, newbie here.
I have read the guide from the start and have successfully dumped iso for my 5 wii games using an lg8162b dvd rom.
However this drive is in my mame cabinet and to burn the iso I need to transfer it onto an external hard drive and use my new pc to burn it. not ideal.
I did buy a gdrh10n dvd rom from ebay as someone noted that this drive worked, I installed it but I get an error message when i try to dump that I may have a faulty drive. It works fine for other things. I can only use this particular one though as my system is SATA and thats the only one thats reported to work.
So after all that my question is....Can anyone confirm this drive does actually work, if so maybe I`m missing something.
Many thanks, driller66

Hey Davtherav,

I think that it means that you dont have enough space on your computer, so try to delete some big files on your computer to make more space or save the game onto an external, hardrive. Also, does anyone know if I can play wifi games with burned Wii games on my Wii if it is chipped with the wiikey? Also, can people or Nintendo see that you are using the Wiikey if you play online games that are burned, since I heard something about stealth mode with the other modchips.

Try cleaning the disk, that is usually the problem.
