UNABLE TO READ DISC

Hello guys. I have tried burning WII backup game isos to verbatim dvd-r 16x speed discs with my LITE-ON DVDRW SHM-165P6S using IMGburn at 1x speed. They are PAL and my WII is PAL ver. 2.2E and my WIIKEY has newest update 1.9 that you all recommend. Now when I load the game everything is fine but as soon as game starts I get the "unable to read disc" message. What am I doing wrong?

Thank you in advance

Thanx 4 any help that might be useful!

Does anyone know if I can play wifi games with burned wifi Wii games on my Wii if it is chipped with the wiikey? Also, can people or Nintendo see that you are using the Wiikey if you play online games that are burned, since I heard something about stealth mode with the other modchips.

THANK YOU

You might try to burn @ 4x speed, I have always had good luck. I have heard (but never tried myself) that burning @ 1x will make the disk hard to read also (because it burns too much?). Also, you might try to burn the image with Nero 8+ if you have it.

HTH,

Wiizy

If at first you don't succeed, scream, piss, moan, jump up and down, and try try again!!

Can my wii get bricked if I have a wiikey, and I only stick to burning games that are in my region, and I have the latest update for the wiikey which is 1.9g. If not, which games are known right now to brick your wii that are in your same region if you have the 1.9g update?

THANK YOU SO MUCH

I'm having an issue with be able to play the ISO's i download off the internet. I downloaded metroid prime corruption burnt it on my laptop put it in my wii and it doesnt recongize the disc. gives a black screen with an turn off ur wii and refer to your manual error. i know my wiikey is working since i can play the japanese version of bleach (real copy), and my laptop's dvd burning works since i had once burnt the wiikey config 1.2 onto it and thats how i unlocked the region coding. but i think my wiikey is have a problem in recongizing burnt dvds now. im assuming it was because i updated my wii a month or two ago...i tried putting the wiikey 1.2 config disc back in and it wont read that anymore and gives the same black screen error as metroid prime. im wondering if theres any way to disable/reverse wii updates? or perhaps there is something im missing? oh yes and i recently burnt the wiikey config 1.3 disc and that doesnt work either, gives the same black error :/

To all having problems with their Wii reading backups.

Instead of using Nero try IMGBURN to burn the game.

Some people had the issues like yours, what they do is play with different burning speeds using imgburn. There's this one guy who was having problem with the imgburn set up at 4x, but when he set the speed at Auto, all worked perfectly!!! Try that and see what happens.

Is there a possibility that there is a problem in such that, your wii w/wiikey can still unlock other region games, (i have a US wii and i can still play bleach the japanese version and an actual copy), but not play copied/burnt games due to hardware updates or something?

I have my original config 1.2 wiikey disc that i made in june and whenever i put that disc into my wii or even a newly burnt config 1.3 wiikey dvd into my wii it loads the screen like its a Gamecube game. I hit Ok. then the screen goes briefly black and then says

"An Error has occured Press the Eject Button Remove the Game Disc, and Turn the power Off Please Read Wii Operations Manual for more information"

What really boggles me and maybe the sign of the problem, is how my config 1.2 disc that i made in june worked on my wii in june, but now it and any burnt dvd is giving my wii problems. perhaps its broken from a wii update? im not exactly sure, if anyone could help me that would be appreciated

Hi,
I'm a beginner to this world so greatly appreciate if someone helps me get started with my Wii console US version.
I downloaded Mario Party ISO file that has the following name [Wii]Mario_Party_8[PAL][MULTI5][ESPALWii.com] in a WinRAR format. I then burned ISO file (size 4.3GB) using IMGBURN to a DVD but my Wii console is not recognizing and giving error message
"unable to read the disc
check the wii operations manual for help troubleshooting"

I first burned onto a DVD+R, then onto HP DVD-R & finally on Verbatim DVD-R but with no luck.
I also verified that Wii version is up-to-date.
Could someone help me what I need to do to play downloaded games with the process of burning them.
Is there a good place to download ISO games that are reliable?
Do I need to look for any particular formats of the games while downloading so I could burn successfully?

Thanks for looking into this & looking forward for a reply.

It's seems like all 3 of us are having the same problem. i get the same exact error message when putting in burnt DVDs , even a config 1.2 disc that i orginally changed my wiikey with to play imported games. and my wii still plays my imported games, just not burnt anymore ;_;
