modchipcentral is a good site, fast shipping (from Canada), good prices, but their customer service is not that great if you have a question. The good thing is that you can get most of your questions answered here!!
Wiizy
If at first you don't succeed, scream, piss, moan, jump up and down, and try try again!!

Please be careful folks. This seller has 8160b's as well as the others. I could never get the 8160b to work. Stick to the 8161 and up. :)

Yeah for $50-70 without shipping! Screw that! Go a few posts up to my last one guys and you can get one for about $30 shipped. This guy probably works for that ripoff store.

Is there any way to verify wii iso before burn? WinRar 3.70b8 show the message that it is in unknown format.
The situation is this. My wii is already installed with wiikey. I did test it using some DVD´s of a friend and it works fine. I have already updated the wiikey 1.9b. Also I have one DVD LG8161b and I could extract iso´s from my DVD´s originals of wii games. I use Raw Dump 2.0 and it create a complete iso apparently correct. And I use ImbBurn 2.3.20 to extract iso from a backup DVD.
The problem is that I did have no success burning iso´s. I did try burn with two DVD writers, LG and Sony, and on two DVD-R meadias, imation and sony, with ImbBurn 2.3.2.0. I did try burn original iso, one that I download from internet, and also one iso that I extract form other backup DVD that works in my Wii, and my wii does´t recognize.
I did some testes and finally realize how to burn iso´s in the right way.
To check if the ISO is ok I did use tow programs. RegionFrii.exe and WiiBrickBlocker.exe. It is important to verify the ISO and if ISO is in the right region.
To burn. With this DVD burner ?HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GSA-H20L 1.00 (ATA)? I cant burn any DVD. All kinds of media I did try fail to be loaded by wii.
But with ?SONY DVD+-RW DW-Q58A UDS2 (USB)? I could burn using the right media.
To burn I use only ImgBurn in lowest speed. The list of medias that I test is:
OK to Manufacturer ID: SONY08D1 DVD-R speed 1x
OK to Manufacturer ID: OPTODISCW004 DVD-RW speed 1x
NO to Manufacturer ID: OPTODISCR008 DVD-R
NO to Disc ID: SENTINEL-W01-00 DVD+RW

Your problem might be with the ISO you downloaded from the Internet. If you have one of the LG 816x DVD-ROM drives, use it and rawdump to make your own Wii game ISO from an original disc. Then burn it with IMGburn at 2x, 2.4x or 4x. Let us know how that works out for you.

You're welcome.
Gee wiz...just checked that auction and they are all sold - and there were a few people that bought 10, 12, and even 15 of those drives!
Scumbags are probably going to re-sell them for twice as much.

So, if theres an error in which occurs when your wii is updated that causes ur wiikey to be unable to play burned dvds...how do you fix this if you cannot uninstall your ninentedo updates? can you get wiikey to ship you an actual config dvd or something? or are the people who updated their wiis just screwed for life?

Hi Everyone,
I have wasted about 50 coasters but finally success!
The key is (and it was mentioned in a previous post)
In device manager set IDE ATA on the primary and secondary to to the drive to PIO only in the advanced settings.
Raw Dump takes a bit long but will eventually dump the iso.
Now burn with Imageburn using 1xspeed. It will take about 50 mins to burn.
I used a SONY DVD RW DW-Q30A YYS3 (ATA)to burn the disc and the media used is Disc ID: CMC MAG-M01-00 (very cheap media)
Thanks

If you download the ISO files, burn them to DVD and play.
You do not need to use rawdump as someone else has done that for you.

Hi All,
Just to clear a few things up.
I don't have an ISO downloaded from the net. My iso was dumped from the game I own. All you need to do with an ISO downloaded from the net is t is burn it at 1xspeed using imageburn.
As per my last post I managed to get my copy to work but unfortunately the cannot read disc error came up after a couple of goes. This has nothing to do with Wii updates.
Discs with the Disc ID: CMC MAG-M01-00 will probably work occasionally as mine did but they are not consistently working.
We need to really get an idea of compatible media.
I have tried TDK media which I heard we quite good but the disc ID was: CMC MAG. AM3 which didnt work for me constantly coming up with disc errors.
The best quality media which played flawlessly is disc ID PHILIPS-041-00 which are +RW discs. Does anyone know where I can get a stash of these and or know if Panasonic discs work as they are supposed to be shit hot? I saw some for £11.00 (50) on the net but need someone to check to see if they work.
Thanks

Sorry if this has been addressed already,
Will the new Wii's work with the wiikey mod chip?
How do I know which Chipset I have?
I found the below article googling and was a bit concerned.
The latest Wii mod chip and the only one at the moment that works on new Nintendo Wii consoles with d2c chipset is called D2CKey. You will need d2c key to play backup Wii games and GC isos. D2CKey mod chip is specially designed for the D2C drives and as such it will NOT work on other models of Wii. In a way that is good news because installing d2c mod is not an easy feat. D2Ckey chip as you can see reacquires 28 wires to be soldered on to the wii chipset. If you have an earlier version of the Wii you should use WiiKey that comes from the same development team and is easier to install and compatible with all earlier chipsets (but it is NOT D2C compatible).
