I am new but am very good at following directions. There is a problem that is driving me crazy. I have the proper DVD Rom (LG)8164. I have the proper programs. Raw Dump and I am using Nero 8 to burn in the recorder. The problem is that I have done 7 separate dumps on 7 different games, both GC and WII. The file size I keep getting with the WII games is 4,589,824 KB and the size for the GC is 1,425,760 KB. This happens every time I RawDump. Can anyone please help me? I run an 2400 system with 2g of ram.

Dont use NERO use IMGBURN or ALCOHOL 120% I also had problems with Nero and make sure you are using decent media too and burn at a slower speed. These are the common faults of discs not being read IMO.

There are no stupid questions. No, there was no instructions to install a mod chip before I could play these games. So I don't have a mod chip installed. And yes, this is the exact size of my dumps. So please tell me what the problem is. Thanks.

yea a mod chip needs purchased/installed to play these games. You should rewind the forum and start from the begining to find out sites and reveiws on chips. Im gonna go with the wiikey. Furthermore i dont think ur recently burnt game is bad, u just need chip in wii to read it.

OK, after reading some more, I realize that it matters what the serial number is and what type of chipset is in the console. I have a serial LU5473. Does this mean a certain MOD? Or do I have to open the unit and check the board physically?

Yes, that is precisely what this entire thread is dedicated to teaching.

LUCKYROXI, I asked basicaly the same thing a few pages back and have had no feedback.

Does it matter on the age of your Wii?
How do you know what chipset to get?
Is there a chart or something referencing serial numbers to mod chips?

Here is what I get on the great serial number search page. This does not help me. Can anyone else suggest anything else?

There is a 50% chance that your drive chip is a GC2-D2C

There is a 50% chance that the pins on your drive chip are not cut.

I purchased my WII at Walmart on the second week of Dec. this year.

Thanks.

13th page 1/2 way down let me show you again as you can't use the search button on the page. People need to read plain and simple. This has been a waste of time on this thread. If you read and use the search feature you wouldn't be asking these questions. Everyone asks the same thing over and over again. And if you say no yopu aren't reading. There should be more time doing other things than answering the same thing over and over.

I have went through all these pages for this thread. And what i have come up with is that we could shorten this to 2 pages at best.

1 you need the LG forget about asking abouth others.
2 You need a modchip.
3 I burned mine with imgburn 2.3.2.0. Props to the maker
4 At the first post it stated it can only work on the Wii if it matched a certin # but twice ( Farcry and Sonic) Comes up with htis number 4,589,824kb and seems to work fine.
5 I am working with Vista Ultimate Edition.
6 When i use Rawdump(Props do here as well) It gives me errors at first but i resart the program and it works fine then.
7 I am using FUJI Film DVD-R
8 I am using Plextor Usb Burner at 4x and seems fine.
9 Also using the Wiikey
So please keep the silly questions down and the answers up . Also there is a cool thing called the Fu**in SEARCH BUTTON.
Well there is my 2 cents worth.

SORRY IM A NOOB SO DONT GET TO PISSED OFF U SAID
8 I am using Plextor Usb Burner at 4x and seems fine. DOSE THAT MEAN ITS A DVD BURNER THAT PLUGES INTO THE USB HOLE AND DOSE THAT MEAN I CAN USE ON A LAPTOP .. THANKS EMAIL ME AT jpraturlon@gmail.com

ok im going to pull a newb here too. I have an older dual layer LG. will it work ?? do you have to have the mod chip ?? I downloaded Raw 2.0? now can someone give me a url to goto for game downloads that are free or do i emule it. I went to emule nothing there.
And note to you experts from a webmaster of many forums. Its easy to get caught up in a group that knows, when us "newbs {hate that word] come by please be patient with us. Im sure all of you know php website programming here and scripting.and this is why the forum format is ancient here.
maybe an absolute list of drives that work ! and yes jordan246 learn to read and spell.
(better forum format=nintendotech.com)

These questions have been answered many, many times in this thread, but once again:

No, you cannot use any dvd drive to rip the games. It HAS to be an LG GDR model, preferrably the one(s) listed in the very first post.

No, you cannot play a backup without a mod chip.

No, there is no such thing as a laptop drive that can rip the games, but a laptop dvd recorder can burn the iso if you rip it from a desktop LG GDR drive or an external GDR Drive (hint: You can buy a desktop LG GDR drive and a 5.25" external enclosure and use that in your Laptop via the USB drive or firewire. I even used my external 3.5" drive to do just that, I just couldn't put the cover on it for obvious spacial reasons.

You can't just go to a website and download games, you have to do it through a torrent program. There are several free torrent sites, search for them. However, it's difficult most of the time to get games that way as people don't have the motivation to seed properly, they'll just download the game and stop it to save bandwidth. Search for "wii tracker" in google and you will find several "member only" trackers that rule, but it can be difficult to get in, as membership is limited.
