I resolved the problem by installing the iso via Wiip and not the HD_dumb. When I used HD_Dumb I kept getting the black screen no matter how many times I tried it. Give it a shot and see if it corrects the problem. Also if any one need Execftp or CDGENPS2_3.0 send me a message, I have both

ok, plz tell me what am i doing wrong....
I want to connect the ps2 and the pc, to be able to send games from my pc to ps2's hard drive (seagate 80GB)........
i have the following ps2 specs:
SCPH-30004R PAL PS2, with Messiah modchip....
with a US Network Adaptor...
with a Seagate 80GB Hard drive....
I started the HDL_SVR.ELF on the PS2....
then, i used a brand new cross over cable, to directly connect the ps2 and pc....
in my pc, i manually configure the IP of my pc to : 192.168.0.1
subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
gateway: nothing set...since i am directly connecting the pc and ps2...
in the config.dat file, the following is written:
192.168.0.10 255.255.255.0 192.168.0.1
I open up LordBoGaMi's HDL_Dump GUI 2 , and try to send a BIN/CUE image to the ps2...
i enter 192.168.0.10 as the PS2's IP.....
the program cant seem to connect, whereas the network connection has been made, as it shows in the system tray....
i try to set the gateway to 192.168.0.1, and still, LordBoGaMi's HDL_Dump GUI 2 cannot connect !!!!
i try booting ExecFTPs 0.69, with the above IPs....and i cant connect using CuteFTP Pro as well.....
what am i doing wrong.........
pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease help.................

I'm having problems with this.
I have Telus ADSL, and I just split my connection with a simple router, which seems to be working (an old nonconfigurable plug'n'play)
My PC connection is okey. I set my PS2 connection up with the Ps2 Network Setup disc, acquire an IP and save my settings.
I use PS2Menu to move the ipconfig.dat to be found by EXECFtp, which I boot from my DMS4 Dev2 mode. It starts up, displays the IP information.
I ping the PS2 IP number from my PC, and it sees it, but I cannot connect through any ftp software (flashfxp)
I have tried forcing an IP, with the same results.
BTW, I have 2 IP's with my account, both dynamic.
Also - when I try pinging my PC from the PS2 network setup program, I get no response.
Do you know what my problem is?

yo doubt peeps will read it here but i have a definite way off making the baaad black screen go away.
when u make cdgen image save it as bin and cue (NOT ISO).
google cdmage and d/l it and run it.
choose scan,then repair then rebuild.
now use WHIIP or whatever it was called and use the cue and bin file to install to hdd.
THIS SHOULD RUN
P.S i also dumped a 200mb file onto the image as well. cause some peeps reckon it worked better.
also the black screen is from the program not starting, hda/hdl dont know what to do so it shows black screen. it has nothing to do with a firewall, cause i presume that would display and error in text.

Can someone help me out on this please.
I have a DLINK DI-604 router, PS2 v9 with 120G Maxtor and can fun EXECFtp on it with my appropriate IP address (192.168.0.200).
When I run the ftp server on PS2, I can ping it from my PC no problem, but I cannot connect to it through a PC-side ftp client (FlashFXP, AceFTP ect.)
I always get (connection refused) in my return dialogue.
Does anyone know what the problem is and how to remedy it?
Thanks.

Hey. Just wondering what file format a ps2 game must be for it to work after a pc install. Do I need to make a disc image (if so, what kind), or something else?
Thanks

Gecko642 what are u asking,? the ps2 game shuold be in .iso or .bin .cue if dumping onto the hdd (either lan or local).
FuckOff12 slim ps2s have inbuilt ethernet, the can connect to the net. For games you will either need USB extreme or to find a product called IDEconnect. (to play games off a internal or external hard drive).

When I try to setup the internet connection via the Internet set-up disk... I get a messege telling me that I have a problem connecting...I asked a rownd and was told that the error was due to the installed Mod chip and that I should connect my Playstation 2 through my Pc in order to play my games on the Internet or LAN! The Problem is...I don't know how! Could some one tell me if there is a way to get a rownd this problem?

well if your chip stops your ethernet to stop working i think sumtins is dodgy, i dont have a slim i have a v7 ps2, but i still think that that dosent make sense. why should a modchip disable the ethernet.
what chip do u have, i will look around and see what comes up.

My PSTwo slim premod from ModWhiz works fine with online play on DNAS patched ISO's. I did not use the setup disc. Configured the online play from the games.

a pressed hdadvance cd will work, or a copied one if you have a way of loading swap magic, modchip etc.
but if you cant do any of that you will need an originall ps1 disc

what the hell do you mean?, this tut is for connecting the ps2 so you can dump games files etc on the hard-drive, instead of ripping open your ps2 and computer tower each time?.
if your not doing that what exactly is the point of connecting your ps2 to you pc

I was having a problem with this at first (black screen), then I went and downloaded the posted ExecFTP image, and I also followed wiredbojo's instructions and both images work. Now I've read all 10 pages of this thread, but I got confused at one point and don't remember if anyone had an answer for this. I got the 'on port 21...!' message on my PS2, and I typed in the PS2 IP address it shows on the tv, into FlashFXP, and it will not connect at all. I've checked my firewall settings, but I don't have windows firewall running (it gets in the way). I remember reading about an IPCONFIG.DAT file and a CONFIG.DAT file, but if I remember right, that comes after you successfully connect (only if you have to).
Can anyone help me out on this? I've spent like 4 hours total doing this lol.
