Doctor Taiyo Yuden,

I've got my first TY question.

I've been using TY A (link below) without any problems, neither have my friends. Now I want to buy B (link below) because it is cheaper, however I wonder if there's anything wrong or "worse" with this cheaper spindle. Could you please take a look at the links and tell me what you think. I will order what you recommend. The cheaper page on the same site doesn't show as much detail, should I be worried?

Ian

This is my goal... I would like to have two lightscribes that way i can do two disks w/ differant images at the same time. [should not be a problem w/ a dual core per sig.]

Next I want two be able to read with one and burn with the other three... I have been told that Nero 7 will allow this, but I have not figured it out yet? Any suggestions.

I am looking for that Benq 1655 that everyone talks well about and they do not cost an arm and a leg. Having trouble finding ine though...any suggestions?

herrick, i do this all the time (be able to read with one and burn with the other three)

you need to use the Nero DVD Burning ROM to make multiple copies at once.make sure you have the box checked to use multiple burners set it up for burning on the fly select your drive you want to read with then hight light ALL three burners with the "Ctrl" key and your off. you may have to burn at 6x though just see how it goes. i burn at 8x and 6x with no problems but after about the third batch sometimes the drives will heat up and slow down the burners you may have to let them cool.if you need anymore details shoot me back

Well... ordered two of those Benq DW1655 w/ soldburn tech. The question is does taiyo yuden make the media for lightscribe? If not does any one have any ideas about what media I should use and where to get it.

Use only Verbatim lighscribe discs. TY doesn't make them (yet?).

Nero's multiple recorders feature is only for burning the same image/data to multiple burners at same time, not for different images/data. I wouldn't recommend using different burning programs at the same time, personally, or using 2 or more separately started-up sessions of Nero to burn different images/data

indeed, but it HAS to be the same data to all 3, not 3 different films..

I do 2 at a time like it's going out of fashion, i'd do 3 if i had another DVD burner hooked up but 2 at a time is sufficient for my brning needs anyway

By your statment, you are saying that Nero has lightscribe image tech? And you are also saying that I can not make two differant label w/ lightscrib even with the software that come with a Benq 1655?

@herrick - no i'm not talking about lighscribe at all, i don't use it nor do i know if Nero has anything built-in for it, i'm talking purely about more than one simultaneous burn

With my lightscribe LG burner the software that came with it imbeds in Nero.I believe Nero 7 Ultra comes with lightscribe feature, but don't know. Before you get all excited about lightscibe, do one and use a B&W image. The technology is just not too good now especially since it's monochrome. Black on Gold. It takes 20-30min to do one and it puts a lot of mileage on your drive. Better to get an epson printer and printable discs and get a fine product. I still use Sharpies. But I am still in the Stoneage. LMAO

You'll love the BenQ1655 drives, I've got the 1650. New firm ware is just out too(BCIC). I believe they use same firmware? Cdfreaks had it, before benq.

yeah, sharpies are good enough for me, i espcecially like the fat-nibbed ones so i don't have to squint at the tiny writing. And i only made one or two mistakes with those, ie i wrote on a couple before burning and was greeted with a couple smeared discs when they popped out the burner. Obviuously the ink hadn't dried before the discs started spinning :)

Anyways, i might hang fire on the firmware myself, my DW1650's are only treated to 'Verbatim TY' or normal Verbs so it's not like i need anything the firmware might have to offer, and no obscure (if you wish to interpret that to mean 'crap' media, feel free hehe) discs are allowed near my burners so current firmware is just fine for me for now; i might update it though, i might not, might do it for a laugh in the week :)

Any opinions on the Phillips media? I use only TY and Maxell MIJ and RiData for dual layer... I was going to mess around w/ the lightscribe images with some cheaper media [I am probably going to regret it] anyways... Ive read alot on AD about good and cheap media but have never read anything on Phillips media... Any suggestions and opinions welcome!

I believe Philips' DVDs are CMC mag(I have an 8X Philips +R lying around that coded out CMC)... so that means proceed at your own risk. If you want cheaper adn better lightscribe media go to best buy, they have 30 pack Verbatim Lighscribe DVD+Rs on sale for $20. Thats probably going to be cheaper than any other brands lightscribe.

Edit: heres a link for the LS media http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?...d=1134697746163

That figures... Thanks for the reply, should of asked before I jumped! something else to collect dust... better yet take up room in the trash can- never used CMC mags but have read alot of unprofitable comments on them, and I just drove by a best buy the other day. Again thanks everyone...

Could not find anything in Nero 7 for lightscribe, was really hoping on doing two disks at a time w/ differant images though.
