herrick, I'd hold onto those discs. Just incase you have a mooching family member or friends that lke to "borrow" your hard earned DVDs. You wouldn't want to give away Yudens or Verbs, lol I know I wouldn't. I actually keep some really cheap CMCs lying around because my brother doesnt like to buy his own media. I told him they were the best so he avoids my Sony\Panasonic Yudens and DataLifePlus Verbs.

creaky,
You can burn at least 2 different video_ts folders with Nero at the same time. I only have 2 drives mounted in my pc so I know you can do 2 different folders simutaniously and I don't see any reason why you couldn't do more.
herrick,
You should have gotten a vs of Nero with your benq 1655 and it should have the lightscribe burning software with it. I like sure thing for the templete utility.
garmoon,
The benq 1650 and 1655 do not use the same f/w.

@aabbccdd - it's been about 20years since i last used hairspray so i haven't got any nowadays (what can i say, i had hair almost as long as Adriana and needed to look smart) :)
@Mort81 - i know you can open up more than one session of Nero at the same time, so i figured you could burn different datasets at the same time if you wanted, i just wouldn't do it myself is all..

I have just ordered them yesterday. Have you ever lightscribed two disks at the same time w/ differant pictures? AND did I read that right... your saying you can burn two differant movies at the same time w/ Nero 7?

I've never LS'ed two discs at once so I'm not sure about that. Yes on question 2 as long as the folders are already on your hdd.

hehe, trying to enjoy a weekend and tweaking my new system...anyways, to the questions:
@mort81
hi buddy, glad to hear from you...the Conroe is def. faster than my AMD setup, but each has their own + and - to them...i'm debating right now whether to add more optical drives to the Intel system, i got 2 drives in there right now, juss seeing how much strain on my PSU is currently being used, i might need to upgrade my power supply if i do decide to add more drives (currently 550w, might end up throwing my 700w OCZ in there instead, but so far, the 550w is more than sufficient) :)
as to a question that MIGHT be of interest to you, DVD-RB Pro + CCE/Procoder my encode times are now under an hour @3.690ghz (not quite stable @3.7ghz+, but i'm getting there...i'm still not finished yet, gonna add more fans to see if it helps, i also modded my motherboard by replacing the north+southbridge chipset/stock ASUS cooling solution w/ Artic Silver 5 thermal compound, i suppose it helps a bit, but i don't really know since i didn't try it stock~ LOL
@deadrum33
anytime i can be of assistance, let me know, now that you got your feet wet w/ the AMD overclock, lemme know what settings u currently run at and we can go higher...using the 10x multiplier is just to "start off"...i'm pretty sure ur using the 11x multi now~ have you loosened the timings on ur memory? or still running 1:1 without a multiplier? running at CAS3 or 2.5? i can go more into detail via PM if you have any questions about what to manually set your timings as, also the FSB (go in small increments upward, our mobo can handle fairly high FSB, but what's MORE important, at least to me, is how STABLE the system is; rather than these "benchmark racing" that i find a lot of other people are so fond of for "bragging rights") each system (cpu+mobo+memory) will vary in terms of how high you can get it STABLE, also more exotic cooling will be necessary to push an Opteron/X2 over 2.8ghz+ (ie. water cooling or phase change, on AIR, if you get a good stepping, 2.7ghz or thereabouts is what you can REALISTICALLY expect, any higher requires more extreme cooling/modding...2.6ghz is very much realistic, i was running mine @2.64ghz for the longest time before i bumped it up slightly) :)
@jizmak
hi there buddy, feel free to pop in here anytime you would like, as to your inquiry, i've had my fair share of debates with joeryan, while i think he has FAR MORE KNOWLEDGE than i do in terms of the TECHNICAL aspect of dvd production/origins/stampers/hundred thousand dollar testing machines for quality/etc. i will say that according to what i have read in various other forums (namely cdfreaks), the ACTUAL manufacturing of Verbatim media that is MADE IN TAIWAN could be in fact be produced by CMC MAG Corporation using MCC stampers/Mistubishi dye~ :) i won't lie to you and claim i know all that much about Verbatim and their manufacturing practices, because quite frankly, i don't...so according to what little i've read into it, i think joeryan could well be correct in that CMC MAG produces the MCC coded Verbatim media in taiwan, to Mitsubishi specs of course~ :) i still find Verbatim media with the MCC coding to be VERY good quality stuff, i tend not to worry or even care about the details of manufacturing, that's just not my cup of tea~ :)
there have been many times i've agreed with joeryan's reasoning to media, and others where i've vehemently disagreed...but as to MY take on it all, i'm with creaky in that i care more about getting members back up and burning again using quality, proven media than getting into a debate about what most will consider "less than good" stuff~ :) to each their own on the whole topic of compatibility vs quality, that debate doesn't suit my fancy so i recommend media based on what has worked well FOR ME and others that i know and trust their experiences on~ :) if you have noticed, it's been a LONG time since i've "flamed" any specific media, reason being is i don't care who chooses to listen to my recommendations or the recommendations of others, it's no skin off my @ss if Memorex works well for someone, i wouldn't recommend it, but so be it~ :)
i look at it this way, if i set out to get ONE specific member burning properly again, and assuming he/she listens to every suggestion and follows every advice i give them, i will guarantee i can and WILL get them up and going again; i know my hardware/dvd media well enough to know how it's supposed to be set up properly (ie. with whichever firmware, burning applications, media the drive "likes", burning speeds, etc.) :)
the bottom line is, as members here at AD, we all have diff. OPINIONS on such things as media, hardware, burning/ripping/transcoding/encoding software, etc. etc...everyone has a right to their OPINION, but for the AVG. joe like you and i, my goal is to help people get up and going again, resolving burning issues that MAY or MAY not be media related, MAY or MAY NOT be firmware related, MAY or MAY not be optical drive related; but if you recommend using quality stuff like Taiyo Yuden manufactured media or the MCC coded Verbatims, at least you can narrow the troubleshooting down to other factors that are inhibiting a successful burn~ :) so many factors, so little time~ :) good day to you...to be brutally honest with you, i could care less WHERE or WHOM manufacturers the MCC Verbatims, i know they work well for ME and MANY others, not something i can say about CMC MAG coded discs~ (personal bad experiences included) i support your recommendations of TY and MCC Verbs~ :)
@Nastajus
hello and welcome to my thread, as to your question, the ONLY major difference between the "premium line" that you have been purchasing (link A) and the "value line" (link B) is how they are packaged AND the possibility of the MID coding on them~ :) with the "premium line" you are guaranteed the TYG02 taiyo yudens (8x DVD-R) and they come in a nice cakebox for storage...as the the "value line," you have the possibility of getting either the TYG02 or the TYG03 (8x DVD-R or 16x DVD-R respectively)...in terms of quality between the two "lines" i have yet to see any difference after using THOUSANDS of both~ :) if i may ask, what drive are you currently using...my only concern would be that the firmware for your drive MIGHT or MIGHT NOT be properly optimized to handle the TYG03s (if you were to receive them)...i have had much more success with TYG02 than i have with TYG03 PERSONALLY, but many others have great success with TYG03 (i happen to get a few "bad batches" when they first came out to the market, i'm sure they have improved since then) :)
hope that answers your question, other than the "value line" being tape wrapped without a cakebox spindle, the actual QUALITY of the discs (IN MY OPINION) are no different than the "premium line"; as i mentioned, i've used thousands of both lines and if i were to make a backup and give it to someone, i can guarantee you that NOBODY would be able to discern whether i used a "value line" or a "premium line" disc~ :)
@all
good to see everything is moving quite along...i still don't have a Lightscribe capable drive, so i don't know anything about it~ :) for those who have a Benq 1650, if the current BCHC firmware is working good for you, i can tell you from first hand experience that there is NOT much diff. w/ the new BCIC that i am using...i believe i read somewhere it helps optimize writing strategies for MCC004 (16x DVD+R) media, but i don't know how accurate that actually is...
hehe..herrick, no, taiyo yuden does NOT make media for lightscribe at this present time...stick with Verbatim as the others have suggested :P

good day to you Doc. Quote: i believe i read somewhere it helps optimize writing strategies for MCC004 (16x DVD+R) media, but i don't know how accurate that actually is...
- i had forgotten about the problems i was seeing with MCC004 on the DW1650 back when i bought my DW1650s. I'd sent a few hundred MCC004 back to the supplier at the time as i was seeing errors in the Nero logs (still am as am now using MCC003) so i must dig around to see what's new in the BCIC firmware; cheers for the heads up

Sorry buddy, I did get lucky. I got my new BenQ 1650 today from zipzoomfly. Someone will have them again. I'll look for you too. Dolphin2 is watching for them also.
Now I need to find creaky's guide to burn two DVDs simultaneously. Can you do 3 with a USB drive too? Not that I want 3 burns.

i have 2 burners in USB2.0 enclosures, one's a cd writer/dvd rom combo, the other is one of my Benq DW1650's, the other DW1650 is internal, all my multiple dvd burns work great, and i can even do 3 simultaneous cd's on this setup, nice.

Thanks Creaky, By tomorrow I'll have two internal benq 1650s and an external (USB 2.0) 16X DL LG 2166D. Will try 2 at a time soon.
@all
ImgBurn also has just been updated. Works fine. I did a couple of single layer exact copies of older single layer movies. ISO build and write.
Edit: Couldn't wait. Tried it with my old Benq and LG. First two different ISOs to 2 burners going same time on memorex of all things no problem. good play back
Then did one ISO and both burners going. Memorex again. Again success. Yes I bought memorex before I became enlightened, and have some left for tests and throw aways. I would never waste 4 TY T02s!!

FYI, I saw Sony TYG03s in Walgreens. Don't know if they price match other retailers.
And about Verbatims, yes, Made in Taiwan Verbatims are manufactured by two companies mainly, CMC and Prodisc. They are high-quality because the manufacturing process is partly supervised by Verbatim QC engineers, and the specifications for the disks are very tightly controlled by Verbatim. Only Verbatims produced in Singapore are made directly by Mitsubishi Chemicals.
In addition, many believe that the CMC-manufactured Verbatims are slightly better than the Prodisc-manufactured Verbatims. There are threads on CDFreaks that show you how to identify which is which.

Thanks aabbccdd, I think I have it figured out. My whole problem was unfamiliarity with Nero Burning Rom. Everything is burned auto with recode and dubbing I use Nero Xpress, until I started using ImgBurn.

Final report - end of saga.
For anyone who has been following my saga, I am happy to report that things are back to business finally. After dumping one bad batch of TYG02, one defective Benq dw1650 (RMAed), and two new Lite-On drives, I am getting good burns once again. Thanks for all the help here to get me sorted out.
EDIT: Forgot to mention the worn out 7 year old Pioneer DVD-103 in the HTPC that got tempermental and read some but not other media; depended on media quality and drive used to create disc.

Well, sometimes you discover that it's best to stick with what works... I was using some 8x Verbatim DVD+Rs, trying out the new BCIB firmware that was just released and had it absolutely demolish one of them on an image burn! So, I decided to revert back to BCGB, which many swear by, and produced this beautiful burn (same image):
Of course, I've seen, and produced, much better, but what impressed me the most was not a single PIF above 2, and the PIEs were almost all below 4, with a max of 9. The Litey only rated that a 95, but in my opinion, that's a nearly perfect burn. :)

I can't recall my highest LiteOn scan, since I rarely use it anymore. The BenQ 1655 provides more information, but I thought I'd save a bit of wear and tear to just get a general idea with my LiteOn, since a bad burn always shows up, no matter what kind of drive you check it with. This was somewhat of a nod to the BCGB firmware, though, since the improvement between these two discs was the most drastic improvement I've personally ever seen.
