I must have tried so many ways to try and get this to work, including all that everyone said to try, nothing worked, but! then i brought myself some decent media, which was far from cheap, and it worked 1st attempt, orginal iso and everything. so my advice to you all is get better media. and burn at the lowest speed (im sure this has been said a million times before, but like i give a ****)

here's how i burnt the game
used the directions from here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/127255

after you do exactly what this says, you can't burn this game with just any burning software, i could only get it to work with Nero and i'm using swap magic 3.3

Ok, finally got the patch to work..

Not sure if anyone has had the same problem as mine..

Here was the wrong thing I was doing..

Windows ME...FAT32...(this was no good, would not let me use the -never split option- on the ISO read setting.)It kept giving me two ISO files..ie..bla.I00 and bla.I01. I used another machine with XP and worked gifting me (1) nice big ISO..:)

After running decrypter you should only have one ISO image. Once you get that, the instructions in this thread and the patch worked for me.

Good luck and keep trying....I gave up and tried again after I regrouped.

Enjoy and props to DVDRick for the patch!

I use Swap Magic v3.3 first then Dvd Cogswaploader then you need a High TOC original I use Devil May Cry use the TOC off the original then load up your Mercenaries backup. Works peffect no stall on load screen. Its because swap magic is only 4.35 gigs and mercenaries is 4.37 gigs.

Does any one know if cdvd gen is compatable with the Plextor 716.
I think that may be the problem as to why the record page is not popping up when I try to use cdvd gen

that dosen't matter, what you have to do when it asks you if you want to save is write in a name for the file. when you do this, it will try to save and then give you the errors

Ok my intial problem has been solved (I had a bad copy of cdvdgen). I have completed each step for backing up mercenaries. However when I get to step 4 (merging the files), I'm stuck. When I try to combined them I get "the system cannot find the file specified". Also Instead of just the "C" prompt. I have "C:\documents and settings \office>"
When I type "c:\" I get the following error "c:\ is not recognized as an internal or external command...." Any help? You can send a PM or reply

mellocee - once you get to step 4, on the command screen, to get to your C: drive from "C:\documents and settings \office>" you need to type "cd C:\". that will take you to your C:\ where you can continue the process of merging the files. the "cd" means "change directory" and the "C:\" is what directory you want to change to. hope you get it, mercenaries is an awesome game.

In trying to backup Mercenaries using CD/DVD Gen. Upon hitting the record button I am receiving the following error (after the .ims & .iml files are created):

"ASPI Manager Loading Failure"

I've used the program before to backup a DVD9 image, and did not have this problem. Does anyone have a suggestion to what could be causing this?

I used HDAdvance 2.0 to load Mercenaries onto my Sony HDD. And it works perfect. It's mode 3 - and it plays so flawless. HDAdvance 2.0 is an awesome piece of software.

Hey if anyone is still having problems with CDVDGEN not coming up with the two error or going to the record screen it may because you are missing a windows system file called WNASPI32.DLL this file is more than likely on your computer if you have windows XP find that file and put it in your windows system folder. CDVDGEN sould work fine I did it and now have no trouble with back-up my games. Thanks to everyone else who helped.

its easier to use the patch. and if you get the 16 bit system era, go to the shadow of rome using swap magic thread. and go to dvdricks to download ppfomatic at the bottom you will see a patch that you download into your system32 folder to replace files works great.
