I too downloaded the new Nero Speed test. It is an exe file. But there was no place to load it so it would come up when Nero start smart opened. What I did was found the old exe from the Nero folder that started the speed test and renamed it and left it where it was. And then I moved the new exe file where the old exe still is. Now when you click speed test from Nero it brings up the new speed test.

i don't ever use the start/programs stuff, too much stuff to pick from, so for the longest time i have one link in my quick launch folder that has shortcuts to all my frequently used icons. i just copy the Nero cd/dvd speed exe onto that page and run it from there..

Creaky,
U is so smart. I was wanting to do something like that but never thought of something so simple and easy. Thanks for the idea. lol.
@cincyrob,
An Iron Maiden fan? Looking at your added quote with your sig. PM me if so, I may have to mail you something really cool. How are you liking that new LITEON? Thinking of a change once I figure out my glitch in the system. lol.
@Binkie7,
Never admit the 'blonde' thing, people will have no doubt then. lol. Is there a real difference with the new Nero-Speed-Test? If so I may have to download for a look see. lol.

There was someone [I think it was binkie 7] that told me that some sonys I had before were badged Lite-ons... I am wondering if 2 of these 1655 are badged because I got 2 from Meritline and they where a matt finish w/ no Logo on face plate [ the lable on top w/ the info had Benq and the specs] and when shipped came only in a plastic sealed bag w/ Nero OEM- Now the one I got from Newegg was in a Benq box w/ info. Verbatum LS disk and OEM- the drive it self had the Benq logo on the face plate and it was a 1/16 in. in hight smaller AND the door was clossy finish and part of the bottom was glossy- any info would be helpful... sorry I know this is off topic Doc. but this thread is where I read not only wide info on media, but drive info also

herrick,
The differences between your drives is one was oem and one was retail. Retail comes in a brand name box, has logo on front, and includes instructions and sometimes some other hardware (ide cable, mounting screws). Oem comes in plain brown box, has no logo on front (usually), and no instructions or hardware.

LOL
Now the new Nero CD-DVD Speed - I've only done 2 scans and not much diff in either. One had a score of 95 on TYG03's burned at 8x, 93 on a 16x Verb burned at 16x. Same as before.
Just to test it I ran the same TYG03's with the previous version and suprise surprise the score was 95 :)
The only diff was the new version had PI errors at 8 - previous version had 11. The PI failures on both were 2.
If I wasn't lazy I'd upload the scans :)
@cincyrob
The jitter test is still not supported on the model of LiteOn we have. has n/a.

hummm weird i did the movie fine with CloneDVD 2 + AnyDVD
try JUST doing the movie only (no extras) that should solve the problem
only other thing i can think of is make sure your firmware is up to date on your drives/burners and try a slower burn spedd say 4x or 6x

In AnyDVD set in the DVD Video Navigation: check Remove annoying adverts and trailer and jump directly to the movie. The DVDs will play like the old VHSs, the movie starts without having to do anything.

I removed the extra's and I finally got it! very, very, strange? I beleive they sent me the same disk back by the way all this happened the time factor over last weekend- This was the second disk I tryied to copy from and the same thing happened on all 3 differant media [6 disks all together]types and 3 differant machines... never seen anything like it which makes me believe somehow I ve gotten the same disk back that I copied from? I have ordered another one for GP and holding this one to ensure I have a differant source. I want all the menus now on a DL disk just for the hell of it now- sense its been a pain in the rear, useaully only put movie unless I use a DL disk or the compression is not highter the 20%... We'll see what happens that for the imput!

Nope your right cincyrob - silver thermal discs need a thermal printer & epson's are not thermal printers. May make some but not the R series for dvd/cd printing
@redice
You can pick up those discs that IHoe showed from supermedia.com & rima.com. They're the silver inkjet ones. The only down side is Taiyo only makes these in the non hub printable.
