12 bucks for 50 Verb 8x +R MCC03 seems pretty good to me. Threw them in the basket while ordering some other stuff. Finally getting some verbs to try in my new litey - it'll be interesting to see how they perform in my drive.

FYI - I've purchased inkjet carts from supermedia for some time now and they work fine in my Canon Pixma. The ones I got from them are made by G&G. I also just ordered a laser toner cart from them, hopefully same quality.

Rob- same drive as you I think shm-165h6s. I got two of them and they both seem fine, especially now that things have settled down after the ridiculous series of fiascos I had recently - including that bum 1655. My biggest regret from it all was I chucked a tub of bad TY which I should have kept for future testing. Even though the litey is not as fast it seems to have better support from enthusiasts - different firmware, Kprobe and variants, flasher utilities, more extensive testing, cross-flashing, etc. Maybe the Benqs are as well supported, I just did not have as much time with it.
Personally, I wouldn't buy a 1655 now anyway. I'm just speculating but it just feels like it's the "last of the batch, bottom of the barrel" syndrome and I'd not be suprised if the overall quality of these last batches is not up to the earlier standard.

Yeah Abacus 24/7 is a great place for cheap ink. Canon Pixma 6 carts are about $1.59 apiece and work as well as original canons. IMHO I call it "the free ink place! Epsons carts are more tho.
EDIT: BEWARE The correct ink store is abacus 24/7 private store
http://www.private.abacus24-7.com/driver...ty&compat=13528
There are two stores same logo different prices. just above is the cheap site.

Pays to shop around - I just looked up ink for canon pixma ip4000 @ abacus and it is more than twice as much as what I pay at supermedia.
@garmoon - looked up ip6000 carts and they are nearly 5 bucks each, same as the ip4000 series carts. are you sure where you got them?

@garmoon - you must be a special dude as you get to buy from the "private" store. Look at the retail store, the one not preceeded by private dot.
I am VERY curious what/why there are the two sites - one with obviously much better prices.
Thanks for the tip off anyway.

while i do not use my TY printables as much as i used to, i have found the Ridata brand Epson replacement ink to be "just about as good as the original Epson branded" ones from my own experience.
i happened to get mine here from meritline:
http://meritline.stores.yahoo.net/epson-...combo-sale.html
i did a few years ago purchase from abacus almost exclusively, but since then, they've raised their prices across the board significantly and in some circumstances, can not compete w/ the likes of supermediastore, meritline and the other online retailers that sell media (as well as ink) :)
the G&G branded ones are what i received from abacus, and just a FYI, are identical (also manufactured by G&G) under supermediastore's own Epson compatible ink~ :) i'm not sure who actually manufactures the Ridata branded ones, but i can see almost NO difference between the Ridatas, the G&Gs from supermediastore, abacus, and original Epson OEMs. i can't say i know anything about the ink manufacturing process (because i don't), but i can see an inkjet printed discs with my own eyes, no discernable difference to me using the various compatible inks~
my family uses the older models Epson R220 (dad) and my own R300M; but i can guess there is not a whole lot of differences between these older models and the newer R320s and R340s and the high end R800. i'm sure each of the newer specific models brings added speed/features/higher quality output (?) not present in the older models, but you get what you pay for in the higher end units~ :)
i personally "prefer" the silver inkjet printable TYs (the one w/ the holographic look), but the white full hub ones are really nice, quality wise (not speaking of the printed portion, but rather the disc itself), it's of high quality much like the other non-printable lines of Taiyo Yuden are...just with an inkjet printable surface for those who have direct-to-disc inkjet printer capable of it~ :)
i don't know anyone personally that has a thermal printer, so i wouldn't know how good the outcome of the discs would be on the thermal printables, but if someone DOES have the $$ for one and has some experience, i'd be interested to know how those particular TYs turn out w/ a thermal printer~ :)
funny how this thread takes on a whole new life (direction) at a moment's notice~ but as long as we are helping one another, it's all good to me~ :)

My other question is about playback. Can dvd players affect the quality of the disc? My discs seem fine to play but some are playing for 30 mins np then start to pause and jump. Is this just due to some bad discs? (25 pack DVD+R Verbatim 8x)or can this be caused by the quality of the player. I feel my discs burn qell with QS 95 but after palyback in my dvd player deteriorate somewhat.

@stedaman - logfile all looks good, apart from the ATAPI drivers - Quote: File 'Drivers\atapi.sys': Ver=?.?.?.?, size=95360 bytes, created 04/08/2004 06:59:42 (Adapter driver for src)
- get that sussed and you seem to have a healthy setup there (only other thing to try after that is a defrag)

yay, that's the stuff; i'd go for a defrag; then the next thing is to CRC scan one or more discs that have shown signs of skipping; if there's any errors then that would explain the skipping ie due to corruption; however if no corruption found it could be the standalone dvd player(s) don't like the discs

@garmoon, docTY
FYI - WARNING
I did more research after I bought the ink from Abacus. Too late now as they sent me an email saying the order is on its way. Both sites sell the same product and is in a yellow box.
When I did my original searching I thought Abacus sold the same G&G ink carts that Supermediastore sells as the picture they show on their top web pages show the GG ink carts but later when I actually clicked on the actual item I was buying it appears it is NOT GG ink.
Seems like they USED TO sell GG ink but have a new supplier. This makes sense as the prices are so much lower than other vendors. The GG ink has gone up a lot over the past year. I'm totally sold on GG ink as being as good as OEM ink. I hate changing out know quality products - like changing DVD media :-). At least their BBB link shows LOTS of happy campers.

You'll love the blue box ink it's Ridisc and I've found it's better than the Abacus and G&G imo.The G&G ink they carry is for the 3800 4200 etc. 4 cartridge printers As far as what G&G stands for don't know but on the box says ink made in USA and EMC iso9001 Quality inspected. Been printing track lists on non printable media letting it dry 12 to 24 hrs with no problems. Chris
