One of the links you provided is for DVD-R thermal printable media and the other one is for DVD-R inkjet hub printable media. Most don't have a thermal printer and use the inkjet hub printables. They will not interchange as far as printing is concerned. If you don't have an inkjet media printer or thermal media printer, plain branded or non branded silver laquer TY's are cheaper and use the same dye.

If you want good media but not necessarily TY's, you can find verbatim in your local B & M stores. I actually prefer verbatim dvd+r's over everything else, even TY's. I do prefer TY dvd-r's over verbatim dvd-r's though.

Yeah I have heard really good things about those discs and I see them in the store all the time, but I was never quite sure if they were the correct ones, it almost seemed to easy to find for it to be good media.

Well, first of all, I never heard of you. But that having been said, imagine how I felt seeking help from someone knowledgeable, DocTY in particular, and then having to explain and re-explain to other "volunteers" who for whatever reason couldn't help me with the problem I had because they seemed to not want to read what I wrote!
It's like going to the doctor to try to get help with a problem, and then the receptionist gets mad because I reject a prescription she wrote because I want a professional's help! Now, if the receptionist wants to direct me to another doctor, that's one thing, you know what I mean?
And, I do broadcast a problem to other sources to try to find the answer because I'm not really looking for a social club, I'm looking for help with a real problem, and between all of them maybe I'll get some information I can actually use. There's no rule that says I have to wait for an answer at one source before I look elsewhere, especially if doing so means getting me nowhere, you know what I mean?
On someone's advice to always "check the media" when the DVD player is having problems, I googled and found an "official Taiyo Yuden thread", and in fact, my initial post was to DocTY, and I addressed him first as I took him to be the most obvious choice. Why on earth would I prefer anyone other than a "guru" for help with a problem I don't understand? I had no idea he no longer maintains his own thread.
And if I'm frustrated, what you call "condescending", I suppose I'm a person who hates repeating myself needlessly, especially if I'm careful to spell things out in the first place. I acknowledged Joe because he not only had the clarity and expertise I was looking for to actually help me, he actually read what I wrote, which certainly made me feel good. I was beginning to doubt my skills as a writer to even communicate. I'm not going to quibble over a model number because he got the important part right.
I realize you don't have all the answers, none of the contributors do. But one expects that in a FORUM setting, someone's got the answer I need, not necessarily YOU, you see. I know that. I took a chance on the creator of the thread; I finally got something I needed from Joe and the fellow from NC, bless and thank them both for reading the question.
The Taiyo-Yuden thread seemed to be the best place to find out if, as I spelled out in the original post, I can be assured that the MEDIA is not the issue. Now that Joe has effectively ruled that out for me, I will indeed find a Samsung forum here or elsewhere to see if there are people experiencing what I'm experiencing, using the useful information Joe and the fellow from NC have provided for me. And I hope the discourse will of course help the other lurkers having similar problems.
Finally, I'm sorry you got your feelings hurt, but I really don't feel I'm responsible for your feelings, however well-intentioned your "advice", because I don't own your feelings. It's always our own choice how we react to something. If you expect compassion on my side, it takes some on your side, as well. Please in the future try to understand that.
If you did answer my original post and I missed it, I do apologize. It was New Year's Eve, and I got into useless verbiage with someone defending Supermediastore.com rather than addressing the problem I asked about. If I overlooked your answer, I didn't mean to, and I appreciate what you tried to do.

Ken (DocTY) does look in on this thread on occassion. I know him fairly well, probably better than any other member here since I am the one and only member here that talks to him on the phone (and usually at least once a month). Likewise he is the only member here I talk to over the phone.
I think it is safe to say the reason he doesn't make an appearance more often is because a lot of what is discussed is redundant (no offense to anyone) and doesn't really apply to him or it has already been discussed previously in this thread. He is also a very busy man.
The main topic of this thread IS Taiyo Yuden media and Ken is the man regarding TY's along with many other topics as well. He is one of the most knowledgable members here.
Nobody here is getting paid to help or answer questions. They all do it of their own FREE will. Members try to help but don't always have all the answers. If the info or help they provide doesn't solve the problem don't badmouth them for trying. REMEMBER, they have no obligation whatsoever to attempt to help you solve any issues you might be having. This is not tech support.
This is a friendly envirement and a place for people with the same interests to share and discuss their knowledge, preferances, and experiences. With your attitude, I am supprised anyone has offered to help you and I seriously doubt anyone will offer furthermore to do so. I'm done. Mort out.
And BTW FYI one wrong number or letter in the model number can make all the difference in the world. HP dvdrw drives are a good example.

LOL ,Mort81 shes more hung up about the SMS problem of getting 8x media instead of 4x media THAT ISN'T EVEN ON THE MARKET ANYMORE!! and SMS states in there ad you may get 8x media or 16x media if you order the valueline.
my guess MsIrisMG is your Samsung DVD recorder is shot or just not working correctly you may be able to do a firmware update to the recorder .so i would call Samsung tech support as a last option to see if you can fix it. other than that its probably time for a NEW DVD recorder or go back to VHS tapes. enough said on this topic lets drop it and move on guys!!!
BTW SMS has been running some good deals on TYs as of late with free shipping!!

I guess this another thing when a personcomes to a forum expecting specific answers with Carte Blanche for themselves on the answer and not coming back with informative discussion that helps other people.Since without proper info no true correct answer can be given. NOT here to bash anyone so NOT going to respond to anything that you wrote concerning me. ON THE OTHER HAND your initial question has been answered. The media you are/were using is fine and therefore you should try other avenues on/about your machine: Samsung DVD R130. Good luck.

Mort81 is right, the Verbs are an excellent choice. Some of us forget to mention them because of the TY's and the thread title. lol. Almost 1/2 of my stock is Verb (MCC 003, MCC 004, MCC 03GR20), so if you can find a good deal at a B&M go for it.
btw that includes @ 300 MCC 003's just to put a ribbing out to Mort81 and creaky. lol. Did a count the other day and had more discs than I remember. lol. @ 250 YUDEN T02's as well. Well enough braggin, Good luck and burn baby burn.

i was out at walgreens lastnight just happend to look at there media there. to my suprise what did i see. sony 8x+r MIJ's. $7.99 for a 25pack. picked up 2 packs of them. 50 disc for $16.95(including tax)very good day for me. along with the Dallas Cowboys loseing cant get any better...lol
@greensman.. how ya doing with those MCC03GR20? i actually seen a very nice scan on one of those over in the Nero scan thread i started. suprised me...

I'm liking them, they seem to write just fine and the scans are from 90-96. My stand alones play them just fine as well. I have so many good discs to chose from that I have a problem picking one to write too. lol.
btw nice find at Walgreens, I've been to mine a few times in the last month or so looking for the diamond. No luck though they have the 16X in stock now so no getting the good stuff any more. :(

yea i have 50 of these lovely TY's 8x+r and about 150 or so verbs... 3 to 1 ratio gotta pick which movies i put on the TY's...lol
you know whats funny when i have alot i just pick up the first one handy. dont matter. but when ya get low on something you tend to be more picky about what ya burn on the real good stuff....
guess im just weird like that..lol

Don't feel too bad about your cowboys, I'm a chiefs fan and did you see their lousy performance? At least your boys played a good game and really should have won. My chiefs coundn't even get a 1st down in the whole 1st half. Pathetic. They left their offense in KC. Go saints even though I bet the chargers or ravens get the championship.

I'm from South Philly, so of course I'm pulling for the Eagles, but I'm a practicle man, even tough I think anyway Mcnabb is overated he is still better than Garcia, with Garcia I dont think they have a shot against the Saints, with Mcnabb yeah they would have had a descent shot. I'm still sizzling getting rid of TO, yeah I know he is an A hole, but him and Mcnabb were almost unstopable.

oh man, nobody mentioned the misspelled. i spell field goal wrong.
however i do have more serious question to ask this time.
does anybody know how does the SMS determined which speed of value line you get. For example, I order on the November and they ship the 16x the GH version (thankgiving sale), and then I ordered again on xmas sale and they send me the 8x GG version. Unlike some other i really dont care what speed i get as long as its TY. However, it would be better if they can ship me 16x all the time. Is there anyway you can specify on the comment section that you want the 16x??

Well, the Chiefs proably played one of the worst offense for the fist half. that was really ridiculous. only 1 1st down or something like that for the offense??

OK Dallas and the Chiefs aren't as good as we (Mort81 and myself) want them to be.
