Katorat-
Get better media.
Burn at no more than 2x speed.
Ps2 games are different when compared to movies or data.
They are accessed more frequent and spuratically.
So a higher grade media is required.
You should have no problem using -r or +r
What matters is the MEDIA ID of your dvd.
Some are terrific others are crap for the ps2.
http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
The following list is in preference order.
Almost flawless burns with 95-100% reliable results:
MXLRG01, MXLRG02 = Maxell = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
MCC = Mitsubishi Chemicals = (-R)<-----------------VERBATIM MY CHOICE #1
TDKG02 = TDK Corp = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
TAIYOYUDEN or YUDEN = Taiyo Yuden = (-R)<--------------FUJIFILM (made in japan) MY CHOICE #2
Possunt Quia Posse Videntur.

Newbie here, I am at the last step in the Sonix guide to backing this system up. All I need to do is build my last ISO file with Apache but when I go to import ims file and open the file, then i go to build iso, it gives me and error that says, "Couldn't find 'GODOFWAR/SYSTEM.CNF'!Aborting..." What the heck is that? Is there another way to build a new iso? Thanks in advance for any help.

Many people had this problem, in this instance you need to create
your own iml/ims using cddvdgen.

Ok, after looking forever in this thread, found the CDVDgen file, but it's an .rar file. How do I open this? Do I need another progrom to open this one? I thought you can just rename it to .zip and unzip, but it's not working.

There seems to be sound lags and some freezes (they work the second time you play the part though. Does anyone have these problems. After you level up your weapons, when they show you the skill chart, there is a slight sound problem.

well, after reading several of the posts...i understand that I am able to turn GOW into DVD-5. I current have hd advance 2.0 and a playstation 2 that does NOT have a modchip. Is there any way to still load that GOW DVD-5 with hd advance and create a back up on the harddrive??

Steel25....You have to have all of your God of War files in a folder named GODOFWAR. Put the GODOFWAR folder inside of a new folder, and call it whatever you like. Next, put the .iml & .ims files in the whatever-name-you-like folder along with the GODOFWAR folder, but make sure that they are OUTSIDE of the GODOFWAR folder. BEFORE YOU CLICK ON CREATE .ISO, browse to the system.cnf file in the GODOFWAR folder and select it manually. Use the folder/browse files icon at the top of the Apache window to do this. Next, right click and select the .iml file, and click open. The last step is to right click, and choose the create .iso option. It should run now. I had the same problem, and I figured this out just by trial and error. I don't know if this was ever mentioned in any of the tutorials, but it solved the error for me. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks xKronikx, I played with it and got it to work. I was having a hard time figuring out how to use cdvdgen so I just thought forget it until I read your post. I followed it exactly but it still didn't work at first, so I just kept putting it in different folders and in different places, so i finally just named a folder GODOFWAR on the Desktop and placed the 2 files that came with the tutorial on the desktop also and then hit build iso and it worked. Don't know why, maybe it was trying to read from the desktop I guess. Anyways, hopefully the game will work perfectly, it's still doing it's thing. only at 22%, but everything so far looks good. Thanks again.

Quagmire: Fifty bucks.
Auctioner: She had nine STDs.
Quagmire: Forty-five bucks.
Auctioner: And when we caught her she wet herself.

If any of of you have d/l Toxic Patcher it says to change the book type in DVD Decypter from DVD+R DL to DVD-ROM. How do you go about this?
This is so I can burn a DL game like GT4 or GOW

I have a problem. I followed all the instructions in the first post of this thread and everything worked OK.....that day. The next day I turned on my PS2 to play this awesome GOW game, and it won't read. I keep getting the "Unable to read disc" error. Any ideas?
I use Ritek G04 media burned at 2x with a V4 PS2 with a Magic 3.1 mod chip.
