I can officially add my name to the success list in the God Of War thread. I was able to use all of the replies to successfully burn, load, and play God of War using DVDLoader v7 All & swap Magic DVD 2.0.. Thanks to L-Burna, Jizmak, GOWRULES, and all others who helped.

man i'm in the EXACT same position....i've done everything right...everything makes sense it's just not working right. i do the 5v3 no pn thing then do the eject, put in swap dvd and then press x, load it then do the swap w/out pressing eject for the back up copy...and it still takes me to the first screen and i'm still stuck. i have a version 1....got it when ps2s first came out...could that have anything to do with it...?? man we must be missing one lil small thing...

OK, all the rules about loading the backup with swapmagic 2.0 did NOT apply to my case. I have: swap magic DVD 2.0 and Swap magic CD 3.0. This is all i had to do, again here are the steps:

1. insert the CD 3.0 version first and let it stop spinning
2. press the "eject" button on the playstation console, so that the cd tray pops out, and insert the DVD 2.0 disc
3. the console will begin to read the DVD disc and also stop spinning, and will prompt you to load "your own program", or something like that. the message is pointless, the point is that, when the DVD 2.0 stops spinning you insert your backup of GOW and press square, for special boot.

that's all i had to do and my game works flawlessly. if you guys encounter any problems with the steps, post and i will try to help out

Ok, I followed your method of putting in the CD Swap Disc...then I eject the CD Swap Disc and put in my DVD Swap disc. You said to wait until it stops reading it to put in my backup, but it never stops spinning. It's not working for me. I don't get why I am having such a hard time loading this game...ugh...this is so frustrating...bcuz I really love this game...but I'm a broke college kid.

how can i get the 5v3 np loader from? do i download it and extract the files and burn them to a CD? i think this might be my problem...cuz I'm using a CDLoaderv7 for it and there's no options in it.

I was told that I should remove from split folder the original m2v files & also remove the name word "new" from infornt of each file when I did the downsampling. This has been done.
But still I have the orignal .waw files, do these stay in this very same split folder or they need to be deleted as well.
Anyways, probelm is now when I click on "Join.bat" I get error pop-up which says
"input audio file not found or can't be accessed"
I must be doing something wrong somewhere but where
Thank you,

hey guys, i burnt god of war and it has been working all up until a certain point(i used the method from backuptools.co.uk). i burnt it onto a dvd-r and the file size in gigabytes is 3.47. The question i wanted to ask is how is the file supposed to be in Bytes.
i.e. 3,***,***KB. Something tells one of my files are too small.

ok this should solve your problems, guys. do this:

instead of pressing "eject", you have to use the swap magic trick (either use the slide card, or whatever it is u use to boot ur backups method) then load the DVD disc and press "X" for normal boot. it will read the DVD and stop spinning, at which point you put the GOW backup and press square for special boot. this should fix all problems guys, sorry about the mixup

ok, disregard my previous message. it will NOT work that way. i thought that you could load the DVD like that, but you cant. the steps i posted originally are the steps that work.

1. insert CD loader and let it stop spinning
2. press eject (the screen will prompt you to insert a "bigger TOC disc" at which point you put the DVD one in and press eject, again.
3. it should stop spinning by itself after that, if it doesn't there is something wrong either with your playstation, method, or discs. you know it worked when at the bottom of your screen, you get a message that reads: "Inser your own program disc"
4. do the swap method trick (either slide card or whatever) and insert your backup of GOW and press square for special boot.

that should be it, if it doesn't work i can't understand why. hope this helps

Yes,indeed I have made a backup with Sonix GOW 2nd tutorial. It really isn't hard to do,just time consuming.I also have another way to go instead of using Sonix 2nd tutorial for downsampling vids, but it uses a couple money based programs so probably not real good, just a quicker method. It works though, just make sure you read the tutorial very carefully and make sure you follow the steps in the right order. The DVD2AVI program in Sonix 2nd Tut isn't needed also,he put that in just to organize all the vids in the folder.Hey RXV2300 try out this place alright man http://www.sksapps.com they have it there.Hope that helps you out,and if you need help on the second tut let us know alright ;).

um like i have a copy of god of war and my friend has it too of DVD-5 (burned). But it always shows a black screen when i try to go in the desert area. How big is the god of war file size? can it actually fit into DVD-5 or do you need a DVD-9?

also man, it seems like my ps2 can't read dvd-9s. What do i do? Another thing, does the God of War DVD-5 has movies taken out or something from the God of War DVD-9? Then how come it fits? It's supposed to be around 7.47 gigs.

Try reading....this was on the first page.

*except the bonus movies*

The bonus movies (in the title menu have been removed)

The only ps2 that can currently read is dvd9 is the
DMS4 modchip with the NEW toxic bios.

Thats why we are ripping it to dvd5.

help...i did exactly what was said in the guide on the sonix website and on the first page of this forum, but god of war still doesnt work. i did everything correctly, i am sure of it. i wasted 2 perfectly good dvd-r disks. when i put it in my modded ps2, i hear the sound and everything, but the screen is always going up and down, or something close to that. when i press start, it works. its just the screen i am having trouble with. Is it the kind of disks i'm using? pleeze help. o ya, im using BENQ burner that's perfectly working, so i doubt thats it. please help. (the kind of dvd-r's im using has no actual name on it, it's completely blank, all it says in the middle in tiny writing is "dvd-r 4.7 GB 4X") hope that helps.

hey i have another question, my burnt copy of GOW worked past the part mid-point where everyone else gets stuck at but for some reason now it stopped. I used the method where u remove the bonus movies from it. the game just freeses during the "bluffs of maddness" as if the game din't finish burning. Can please tell what i might've done wrong or if they ran in to the same problem (i don't feel like wasting another dvd-r on this game)

After I got up to the Oracle's palace, and defeated all of the enemies in the courtyard, the ensuing cut scene did not load. Instead, the screen was black, and I could hear the sound effects of my moves as I just ran around slashing things. Is this the result of not properly relinking that particular movie? The whole process of relinking manually became so monotonous that it is possible that I got click-happy half way through...lol. Also, I've noticed that there are a lot of reports of the game not working beyond a certain point. Has anyone CONFIRMED that there is such a point in the game, or has it all been written off to burn/rip errors? Thanks in advance for your replies.

Your media and burn speed are the problem.
I use +r myself.(Verbatim or Fujifilm)
BURN AT 2X SPEED
Older ps2's cant read it though.
But newer ps2 read +r better than -r.
It all depends on your version ps2.

I will even show you!!!

Yes the game plays all the way through.
