Quote: Jizmak, which method is the best in backin up God of War?
That depends on you.
If you want to have ALL the bonus content.
Then downsample the movies.
If you just want a complete game AND all the in-game movies,
Do the original method at the first page of this post.
Its all up too you.

I'm trying to backup GOW using sonix new method including downsampled movies.
(I already have a full working version of first method)
I am at the stage where I need to use TMPEG, & need to put "New" at the beginning of each M2V file.
When I click start I get little preview of what is being downsampled
(video)but it's the same on all files, I've gone through 10 already & always get the same video sample.
Is this normal or am I doing something wrong.
Thank you,

I bought a back up online and it worked perfectly, i saved the iso of the back up on my computer a total of 3.47 GB then 4 days later the backup broke i couldnt pick it up off a glass table so i slid it off and it got a nasty scratch, it didnt work anymore. But i still have the files on my comp i dont know what order to put them in though , i tried burning them in the way l-burna said in the beginning it loaded but froze on the sony of america screen. the size was still 3.47 gb what am i doing wrong? plz help. have had 3 coasters trying diff ways. also there was a pack 1 file in there that my original game didnt have.

I have a question to any of those who have used Sonix second tutorial when you play the game are the videos smaller or just a stretched 640X480 video?

The files are compressed quality is decreased by the compression method, but the video files should be the same as in the game.I just started working on Sonix method, don't really have the time to go through the whole process in a day but I am getting there.I am going to try out Sonix method and help from his way, because the programs I am using such as CubeMedia2 are not free base tools. The tools Sonix is using are free tools,so might want to stick with Sonix tutorial. The Error.05 messages that appear in PSSPlex are normal also, just wanted to tell everyone this that are trying out his method. In the tutorial Sonix mentions that Error messages from PSSPlex and the split batch file will contain error messages. What you need to do is press the OK button everytime this message comes up,which should come up on all the movie files. Will report when done as soon as I can,but at the momment just lacking the time.I kinda perfer the route I went instead of this tutorial, but since the tools he used are free this would make it alot easier for everyone.

L-Burna, I'd prefer to see you working on a tutorial written based on your method rather than bug-fixing Sonix's. But that's just me
Ive not heard you mention PS2str for downsampling until now, isnt that what you were using BlazeMedia for?
And again, does anyone know if the bonus costumes are available on the DVD-5 backup with the bonus movies removed??
thanks,

Yeah the program ps2str is for joining the .m2v and .wav(convert to .ads) files together as a .pss file.PSSPlex isn't as quick as ps2str for the rebuilding of the .pss files.Blaze Media Pro was just for converting to a format Mpeg2(.m2v) you can use TMPGEnc for that, but I like Blaze better. It is quick and you get the same output,as I mentioned though some of the tools I used are not free.I can work on a guide prpl_haZe,but the tools kinda throw the guide off for some people.

Besides registering CubeMedia, which others do you need full versions of to use?

TMPGenc is one that has to be registered,to keep using it other than that the only one other than that I think would be Blaze Media Pro.

I burned my God of War backup using the sonix fix and the game played perfectly fine, or so i thought. On the level where you rescue the oracle it freezes up at the one cut scene right before she tells you about using pandoras box. Its almost like a skipping record because the music skips while the game just hangs there. Any ideas on what went wrong with my copy i followed sonix tutorial thouroughly, and i also am running swap magic 3.3 on a v4 ps2 using sony +r media. Ay help would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone have a torrent up of the downsampled movies? It would make this process a lot easier and faster.
Play Donkey Kong Jungle Beat! Seriously it has got to be one of the craziest games I''ve played in a while.

ok did alot of research just keep find the same thing...
i am pretty sure i have a good backup of GOW. tried loading it w/sm 3
froze on sony entertainment screen. alot of other ppl have this prob too. so i read. ok need dvdloaderv7all. downloaded burned iso onto cd-r. did correct sequence: 1)sm cd 2)dvdloader 3)sm dvd or at least tried to do correct sequence. i tried both dvdloader and cdloader onto both cd-r and dvd-r both give me the red outlined screen when i try to load with sm cd 3. which leads me to beleive that i haven't been able to burn dvdloader correctly. is there a certain way i have to burn dvdloader other than usual(using Alcohol 120, iso write, etc)? cause i can't seem to get a good copy...

I am having the same trouble as eveyone else...SURPRISE! I get the old error message after clicking BUILD ISO. I think the .iml file that came with the .pdf tutorial file, or the Apache program itself is crap. I've tried everything in this post, and I've read that damn tutorial until my eyes are bleeding. If anyone here has any real answers, or knows where the rest of us can find some, please post them. Please do not post anymore confusing crap that doesn't work. Thank you.

just to give you a heads up i had the same prob and i used the .iml files with the tut. make sure that you have the files(.ims and .iml) in the folder above all the other GOW files and make sure the name of the folder w/all the GOW files(including system file) is named GODOFWAR exactly like that. in the tut files it looks for that specific folder so if it's named "GOW" or "copy" or anything else it won't find it....just thought i'd let you know how i fixed it...

ok...i have figured it out...and burned it to a disc...i know i have to use a DVD loader (i think i have the right version of it...) for it to work...as I am using Swap Magic 2.0. I use the loader and the game says invalid...:( But i know i did something write because when I go to do a regular swap, it turns blue on the outside and it loads the first screen that says "Sony Computer Entertainment America Presents" But it doesn't go past that screen. Is there something I am not doing right in the burning process? I may have messed up one link on the .pss & psw part. Could that be it??? Please help... THank you

Ok...here goes. I am currently building the .iso file. I followed all of the advice of ballasc (thanks for the help ballasc). It did not work at first, but I had a revelation. I clicked on the browse(folder) icon at the top of the Apache program, and manually navigated to the system.cnf file. After that, I chose to open the .iml file. THEN, I clicked on build .iso, and it began to build the .iso. SO, I think that the issue can be resolved this way. I won't know for sure until I burn the resulting .iso file. I'll post the results. Thanks to all who answered my post, and I apologize if I came off as an A$$HOLE.

You have to select the 5v3 No Pin option, when Dvdloader comes up the for the first time Press the X button. It will give you a menu and you can find it there, just find the 5v3 option and then click on it.It will do a refresh, then you can go through the rest of the steps.

The cdloaderV7_beta5.2 also works pretty good,if you select at the very beginning the Default on the region setting, and click on Always refresh IOP it will work like a charm. It really doesn't matter which way you go though, you still have to use one of the loaders.
