It could be your audio is in a format that mkv2vob doesn't like, so it changes it accordingly.

But I've never used mkv2vob, so I'm not too much help on that. Try searching for "mkv2vob + your audio type (ac3, dts, etc.)" and see if that helps. I know there are people just in this thread who've had problems with audio and mkv2vob.

Hi everyone,

I tried this great tsmuxer tool on two HD files and that does not work :(

I did exactly as the tutorial says. Generated AVCHD blu-ray is well recognized by PS3 (and PowerDVD 7.3 on my PC, to test before burn) but I got no picture.
Audio is there, I just have a dark screen.

I tried with 2 different H264 MKV.

Do you know where that could come from ?

Did you change the H264 codec from level 5.1 to 4.1?

Hi Everyone , i have an MKV Video File , that has 6 chanels audio , and wanted to know if there is anyway to convvert this file to a ps3 known format and keeping the sound like it is , and not changing it to stereo .
i've tried converting it with xilisoft Video Ultimate , but without any success , i tried it's AVI HD profile and HD MPEG 4 , but none of them was recognized and played by the Ps3 ( and when i tried the PS3 HD profile , the sound was limited to stereo and no 5.1 option was available )
also tried Ps3 Video 9 , changed the Audio setting ( in Edit Profile ) from Stereo to "Original" but after the "convert" finished the file only had 2 channel audio ( stereo ).
So i was wondering if there is any converter , that would help me convert this file and keep the audio the way it is ?
Thks

Yes, there is....tsMuxer and mkv2vob both do the job. They can both output to m2ts and mkv2vob can output videos to VOB which the PS3 can read.

Yeah, uh... no offense, but it doesn't take a lot to look at the first page. It does explain a lot.

But I've still got a question about tsMuxer and subs.

With the Append feature, will I have to retime the subs for each video? Meaning if I have one video that's 30 minutes long, then "add" the second video with subtitles, will I have to add 30 minutes to each subtitle?

If both sub files start at 0:00:00:000 then one will have to be retimed.

Ooh, boy... that's gonna suck. Oh well, thanks a lot. I've got some other questions, but I think I'll send those on to the Subs forum. Thanks again.

Uh, okay, then. Well, I asked this before, but I'm wondering about Advanced SubStation Alpha subs. (.ass subs.)

I'm wondering if it's possible to convert those directly to .sup. As far as I've seen, I've found ways to change .ssa to .sst to .sup, but no way of doing the same for .ass.

Since .sup is basically the letters in a bitmap picture, is it possible to simply take a picture of the .ass subs in action, chop those out, and save them in a bitmap format? (Well, basically, anyway.)

I don't think so, however I have converted .ass to srt, imported that in tsMuxeR, tsMuxeR then converts .srt to .sup. If the source was a good rip you shouldn't have any problems with wierd text. You can change the font of srt subs in tsMuxeR to that of something that resembles typical BD sups... I believe the very first option is a good font.

I figured that, but .ass subs also have those special "gimmicks"(?), like shading, color, karaoke, etc. Plus I've also got Chinese characters thrown in.

I'm fine with changing the subs to .srt and losing the special formatting, but I'd have to remove some subs that pop up at the same time.

...unless you know of a program that'll let me configure where on the screen certain subtitles pop up?

Hi again !
i read 15 pages of the thread , but i still have problems Re-encoding my movies , so i thout i might ask again .
i have 2 mkv file , 1 HDDVD rip and the other a Bluray One .
both with 6 Channels audio , and i have problems with both of them .
for the First one ( hd dvd ) , done as it was said in the tutorial , used mkv extratc program , then used the tsmuxer file , changed the level to 4.1 , but the output file was a "Only Sound" file on my ps3 , then as said on the first pages of the thread , used a third party program , Converted the MKV file to MP4 AVC HDTV 1080 ( took 7 hours )
downloaded Mp4Box and YAMB , extracted a h264 from the Mp4 that i got ,
Re-tsmuxed it with TsMuxer , the Result was playable on the ps3 , but it looked more like a VCD rather than a HD Movie ! and the sound was DESYNCHRONIZED !

for the Second one ( BD ) , the sound was in DTS format , so when extracted , used Eac3to program to change it to AC3 , but then again when Tsmuxed , the sound is De synchronized ( but not as much as the first one just a 0.5 Sec :D and the image quality is still good )

any advice would be appreciated .

PS : should the "Add Picture Timing Info " and "Continually insert PPS/SPS" boxes be Checked ?

Thanks.

Recoding/Resizing your video to a BD compliant stream will take care of this. There are a couple of applications that can do this, I use MeGUI/AviSynth.

Go to this thread, there you'll find all of the tools need plus a tonne of support.

i've almost finished converting my video collection for my PS3, all my movies are done with most of them just muxed to m2ts but a few (+all recent additions) recoded to add borders allowing for blu-ray muxing, couldn't have done it without the help if got here.
i've come across one new problem when muxing a couple of tv shows. The video is not HD, as an example one show is a DVD rip and the resolution is 706x560 (not too familiar with DVD resolutions but this seems odd to me) but when i playback the mkv it is stretched to 1010x560 however after muxing to m2ts it is no longer stretched and as a result everybody looks tall and thin. Is there any other way to fix this other than to resize the video in megui? (i seem to remember trying to resize a video like this before in megui but it didnt work)

as i said, it depends on the video and your setup. but to give you an example it would take me about 20-24hrs to encode a 2hr movie in 720p at ~7Mbps on a 2.8GHz P4.

I'm running a quad core 2.4GHz, 3.3GB ram. It takes about 14hrs to run a 2hr 1080p movie, about 6 hours for 720p movie. That's using a high quality MeGUI profile. There are other good profiles that take up to half of the time.

I definetly reccommend doing 2 pass encodes though... which will always take time.

Holy......! Do the other profiles do a 2 pass encodes in less time or just one pass?

There are other 2 pass profiles that take less time. Download the latest MeGUI, all of the x264 profiles are already there. When you install make sure you check all of the x264 profiles.

Hmmm, I usually just ignore the x264 lol. Will do. :)
