My only Questions are, Has anyone rebuilt god of war successfully without taking out any movies or anything? if so, please post how to do it. I am also looking for sonix's tutorial version 3 or any other version. And finally, what does the munge-o-matic do, and why is it easier than sonix tool. Thanks.

Working DVD(small) God of War for everyone with CDVDGEN problems at recording (Execute error: CD/DVD-ROM Recording Unit Controller)
use the tutorial from side 1
Step k) Instead of clicking on REC...

13) CLICK FILE-> EXPORT IML-FILE and save it where you want, then close application
14) Use iml2iso 3.1 (u can get it here:
http://www.exploitstation.com/index.php?page=downloads) to load the saved *.iml and convert it to an iso-file
15) Burn your *.iso with dvd decrypter
16) Play the game :)
Thanxx to SONIX for his great tool!!!

Just wanted to say thanks to sonix for the version 2 tutorial, got my game backed up with all the bonus movies. Even though some parts of the tutorial seemed unclear and some parts were missing, i figured it out.

having backed up gow when it first came out at $50 it was well worth it, but now you can find it used for under $20. so i dont see the point of doing it now, the same goes for gran tourismo 4.

I noticed that when the tutorial was written DL Burners weren't widely available, but now that they are (and I have one), does that mean that I can burn the 7g GOW ISO onto a DL disc?

Thanks. =)

I would appreciate a quick yes or no answer, thanks.

i havent played it all the way through but i successfully backed up God of War using DVD Decrypter and a DL disc. movies and scenes are intact and seem flawless. didnt use anything special just ripped to hard drive and then backed up the MDS file with DVD Decrypter. seems to work just fine

ok i hit a glitch, when i reached pandoras temple the game froze and kept loading, i left it for ages and nothing happened.so...........
i tried to rebuild it and i got as far as the end when i needed to create an ISO file from the IML file. i now realise i am trying to create an ISO file from a PAL version of the game with a IML image (sonix image) from an American version. the error message i get is cannot find SCUS_973.99 file cause mine is a Aussie version where the file is SCES_97 something. so now i want to try and create the IML file with CDVDgen but i cannot install the program i get an error message like cannot install, due to error in C:\program\Symantec\S32EVNT1.DLL. AN installable Virtual device drver failed Dll initialization. I have tried many different versions and downloads

is it also normal if you have this error not to be able to use the save point right next to it?

You rebuilt a messed up ISO file. If you downloaded a iso of GOW and it freezes at pandora's box, then the person who made the .iso didn't do it right. Get a REAL copy of the game. It's a DVD9 disc. The .iso is I THINK 7.93 GB. Use that and follow the guide by Sonix and you'll end up with a 3.9 GB .iso that plays perfectly.

Acctually, it DID work. The other ISO includes all the movies and bonus, so now i can just use that, all i needed was to get past that bit and now i have i can play a full version of the game with nothing ripped.

I rebuilt the game using the method on page 1 and it worked up until a point at Cliffs of Madness then froze, so I'm going to try and rebuild it again using a different method. Since backuptools.co.uk is down would someone be able to send me Sonix v3 tutorial where you downsample the movies or provide a link for it. Any help would be helpfull thanks.

Just a bit after when going down a hall way, after doing the bit inside the rings of pandora and running on the giant ball thing and climbing up the ladder, the corridor after that savepoint it just freezes!

I rebuilt a "broken" iso to get past the pandoras bridge bit, anyway to get by this?

has anyone played though the whole game with the tutorial on page 1? please say if you have then i'll just get a full version iso to rebuild, thanks

Weird; i just booted up on my other PS2 and it loaded straight past it! I wonder if i'll be able to play from here on in only on this playstation, its pretty weird as they are both v3's so i don't really get why it wouldn't work on the other. Nevermind though, looks like its working fine now.

Sounds like your disc is too damaged to read, but you could always try opening the disc up in IsoBuster & creating the iso with that. Right click on the disc icon in the left pane & choose to extract disc image iso.
