Sorry to bring up such an old thread, but I just got God of War, and Its on my computer and such, i was looking to go to backuptools.co.uk but the link just takes me to a blank page with some google text ads on the top, does anyone know if the site is dead or what?
EDIT: Okay I'm retarded, didn't look at the stickies because I'm stupid..sorry about that.

Well, so far, Im not sure what to do on apache 2. I tried extracting, there was something on the toolbar which said extract layer 1, I chose that and it gave me an iso, now I don't know how to get the other layer extracted, or if I even did the first one right. Can anyone clarify on this?

Hey mikernite, your method worked!
I couldn't find Sonix God of War Tool, so I used Gnie ExPERT.exe to shrink the files down to proper size and then used Nero to burn the iso.

For Mikernite and AWCK:
I too used the GNIE Expert tool to rebuild GoW, and yes, it does work. For a while... After nearly 4 hours of play, I finally got to the point at which I needed to cross Pandora's Bridge, which is also when DL1 stops and DL2 starts, and the game FROZE as I've been told it might.
I've read some DVD9 games WILL play all the way thru using Expert, and some won't. GoW is one that won't.
I'm now scouring the net for the latest version (?) of the Sonix GoW tutorial to rebuild GoW such that it passes this FREEZE.
Thought I'd share.

Well, there is a sticky with a link to the SONIX tool. I got apache, but I don't know what to do next being this my first rebuild. Although once I rebuild it I'll make sure to share it for the good of humanity. Can anyone pm me to help me out with this problemo?

Laura3, I have the tool, not sure if I can legally post you my nick on aol, but I'd be happy to send it to you that way. I think we can send private messages on this board as well.
I got the GoW patch at http://thefileforum.com/portal/modules.php?name=Downloads, I had to register to do so, that is free.
I haven't tried to implement the patch, but I have it, lol.

see when you rebuild this game see the bit where you delete the part2.pak file does that not mean that half the game is missing that is the other layer of the game do you have to make this game up as a 2 disc game because i have swap magic and i know you cant play a game thats split into 2 discs can someone please help

Don't know if has been posted, but http://ps2burns.host.sk/tools.html
has a program called MoM (Munge o Matic). It was made by SONIX and is able to get you all of the necessary files to rebuild God of War.

i stuck please help..
i used DvdDecrypt and the .iso it created is 7.47 gb(did it 3 times)
then i used apache 2.0 and i extracted both layers.
i tried to extract GODOFWAR.TOC but it does nothing..
what is the problem?

Try using Sonix's Munge-o-matic. It has the God of War tool needed for a successful backup. Just use the drop boxes and highlight the godofwar*pak tab and then browse the hard drive for the GODOFWAR.TOC file then extract it. There is a sticky on this part of the forum giving you many and many programs including munge-o-matic. Hope that helps.
Now on to my current problem. I've made a succesful backup to God of War but I've done so by deleting the bonus movies to make room. Before settling with this copy, I tried to do sonix's third method of backing up this game by using the pss downsizing program to keep all the movies but lowering the quality. When I get to the section where I have to downsize I run into a problem. All the files that I downsize with pss downsizer get deleted from the extracted folder and later show up as missing files when I rebuild and relink. Does anyone have any solution??? Much appreciated.

Excellent guide OP; very easy to follow.
I fear I'm experiencing an error with CD/DVD-Gen that hasn't been stated yet. I've tried versions 1.2, 1.5, 2.0 from many different locations, and have received the same error each time.

I've looked to see if the error is related to the program itself, or with the installer package, InstallShield. Looking up "installshield error 105" brings me a page that talks about Error 105 being Quote:

installation.
Looking up "cd/dvd gen error 105" or even "cd/dvd gen SETUP.LID" gives me nothing.
Any ideas?

Looks like I'm unable to edit my previous posts. I did find some information on this error at
http://support.installshield.com/kb/view.asp?articleid=Q101157
From what I gather from this, it means that all of the necessary installation files were added before doing a DoInstall command (aside from this SETUP.LID).
As for ideas on how to get past this, I'm at a loss. Perhaps I'll go find cabextract and a InstallShield decompiler. :/ But if there is an easier way, definitely let me know.
