The Condemned download I found is around 8 gigs. Maybe this is a hoax after all.

Im would like to know (as you all would) how PI made these copies
of the xbox360 games.
any ideas ???
how about trying to connect the xbox360?s dvdrom drive to a pc and then see if the pc can read an xbox360 disc.
If what we are told is true the dvdrom drive in the xbox360 is locked like the xbox1 hdd.
Then maybe while the dvdrom drive is in the 360 try to split the data and/ or power cables using some sort of two-way split so that
when you turn on the xbox360 the xbox360 unlocks the dvdrom drive and the pc reads the disc.
A bit like when I have tryed to mount a PC dvd-r onto my xbox1
I had to use the original xbox1 dvd drive and split the power cables so that the xbox1 powered up the xbox1 dvd drive and the PC dvd-r drive
but I was able to use the PC dvd-r drive to load the xbox1 discs
check 'xbox scene' for more info
Regards

tekno5: it was done using a modified firmware for a DVD-rom that has existed in the scene for sometime now. There was just different layer breakpoint so i only took a couple modifications. I don't think how they riped it is as important right now as geting some unencrypted code.

Something interesting to note: http://www.free60.org/wiki/XEX#Cryptography
There is a program written to create a hash table for xex files. We could use this to determine which .xex files are unencrypted (such as the xex that updates the dashboard)
Also scroll down to the "Strings found in some XEX files".
Here is a string that caught my interest a bit:
\Device\CdRom0\default.xex
Well, I don't have any Demo DVD's, so I can't play with any .xex files, and I'm sure all the xex files on full game discs are all encrypted. If someone wants to mess around dumping the hash table and reading the strings of these .xex files, that may be a good place to start.
edit: You don't need to compile this program yourself. At the bottom of the page there are links to several programs to help you out.
edit2: If someone can send me a demo xex, that would be great, you can use www.rapidshare.de to host it for free.

there is new tool avaible:
i hope is usefull for extract xbox360 images
Quote: X360FExT Xbox / Xbox360 File Extraction Tool v1.0-- Posted by XanTium on December 15 01:17 EST
They guys over at http://www.adr-uk.net/forum/showthread.php?t=158 adr-uk.net
released a new tool that can extract images in the Xbox and Xbox360 DVD filesystem. It's not a GUI for the http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox1data/sep/EEFuplVllVIYuZHGfq.php PI Game Dump Extractor, they made their own 'backend' for it and also added support for images in the original Xbox format:
X360FExT (XBOX / XBOX360 File Extraction Tool) is a simple tool designed to help users that wish to open XBOX and XBOX360 images to extract specific files or all files.
As you can see from the screenshot:
, the tool has opened a PI XBOX360 image without any problems and fully extracts a 5.78 Gig image in 9 mins 43 seconds using a P3 500MhZ, 384 MB RAM running WINXP O/S.
The tool is also backwards compatible for XBOX1 users which is probably more useful since there's not much you could do with a XBOX360 image unless perhaps you wanted to do some reverse engineering, naughty, naughty!!
Not bad going for a single 17KB Windows program, a must for anyone who can not stand command line programs. Oh, and it is also quicker than the xtract360.exe that PI released. ;)

Listen up peeps,
I have a PAL box, I live in Norway - and I have a full duplex 155mbit link. Someone get me the image of the demo, and I'll create a afterdawn account, so that other ppl can leech the image aswell.
Someone mail me if you have the image,

Well I tried it on the US version of the demo disc and have the same exact results as steddyman did.
I burnt it to a Memorex DVD+R DL disc. It was about 5180Mb in size. I did the Sparing Partition and 1.50 UDF.
I burnt it and had the same result as steddman. It says "unrecognized disc" in the tray icon in the xbox360 dash.
So yes, it looks like this was a hoax after all, and its funny how all of a sudden Steve had to leave when others were so close to trying his method out :(

I think my problem was the 360 will not read the Infinity DL disks. I have also burnt a Xbox Compatible DL disk and it can't read that either. This worked fine on single layer media.
I have got some Philips DL disks for testing which is the exact same Media that Steve was using. I'll try one of these tonight. Steve has also arrange for me to test something for him and I should have the results of that tomorrow. Sorry I can't be more specific than that.

K3Ke ~
I do now believe this is hoax and Steve is lying. I went on USENET and downloaded Condemned and all the other X360 games for the hell of it (I have a 15 mbit connection.... gotta put it to use!). Condemned is about 7.3 gigs archived. I have not unarchived it to see exactly what is in it. I believe there is no way you can fit the Demo + Condemned on 1 Dual Layer disc.
Even though this is fake (as I believe), I will still like to look and see if the xex files are encrypted or not. If it is unencrypted we can see a few interesting strings in the executable.

xRadix you are wrong mate.
The Condemned.360 disk image is 7.3Gb.
If you extract the files from it using the PI tools then Windows reports the actual file size as 3.38GB. There is obviously a LOT of slack space in the ISO dump since it is a direct binary dump of the entire disk.
The condemed .xex file is encrypted as are most .xex files. The default.xex from the root of the OXM disk has a lot more readable stuff than the one on Condemned, so I do not think that one is encrypted.

Steddy can you please PM me what you and steve are working on? I won't let it out to the public, I promise. I have been working hand in hand with you guys on this, so if you could please let me know, PM me, that'd be great :)
Also, let us know if you get the 360 recognizing your burn of the disc. As I said, I also got an "Unrecognized Disc" in the tray icon on my 360 w/the UDF 1.50, sparing partition settings.
I would like to help this out, but I do not want to get another coaster on a DL disc because they are expensive and I don't have many left.

OK
I have now burnt the files as described by Steve in the format described by Steve using the same disks.
My Xbox now does see the disk as a Game in the Dashboard, but when you try and start it, it reports that the disk is Unreadable, Wrong Region, etc.
One more thing to try from Steve tomorrow and if that doesn't work either then this is all a hoax.

That sucks man. I really REALLY think it's all a hoax now that you've tested the EXACT same thing as this guy, AND all of a sudden he said he's not going to be coming back to this thread.
