Hi guys...i have a problem.
I got a PS2 game divided in 6 files named MD0, MD1, MD2 etc. I thought they were MDF files but when I unrared the first file IMG BURN did not recognize it...also it is not an ISO or MDF file extension.
The files must have been backed up with some software I have not met yet and the 6 files I have are all different size...(around 600 mb while normally a MDF file is at least 1 or 2 gig) so I do not know what to do. Am I supposed to "repack" them somehow and obtain the original MDF FIle? If there is a guid in the forum for this just point me in the right direction...should be enough.thanks a lot

Quick question (I'd rather bump this than make a new thread):
Are 8x DVDs better than 16x DVDs? Wouldn't it be the same quality as long as I burn it at 1x or 2x?

No the best speed to burn a ps2 game is at 4x, but a dvd is always best burnt at half speed of the maxumin speed which means for ps2 backups 8x are the bestas they should be burnt at 4x and a 16x is best to be burnt at 8x

Just would like to point out that I have PHILIPS DVD+R media, and the Media Code is CMC MAG E01.
Also, I burned a game on both a Philips 8x DVD+R (Nero Quality Score: 25) and a Fujifilm 16x DVD+R (Nero Quality Score: 95). The Philips runs great, boots up quickly with little to no stuttering. However, I burned the same game to a Fujifilm multiple times, and every time, the game would not boot up for about 5 minutes, then constantly stutter. Why is it that such a low quality disc produced better than a much higher quality disc? I tried different burning options each time.

finally i have managed to download the correct versions of everything, i have managed to burn a re built back up of fifa 07!
games loads fine with 1 or 2 stutters, then hangs on the final game load screen but finally goes through to play.#
during the game it does stutter and slighty skip a few times but it is bearable.
I have used a cheapish dvd, but it has worked fine with all my other back ups. i will asume that as i have rebuilt it would be better if i used a higher quality dvd, Or is the game goin to be this way no matter what due to it bein rebuilt!!??
any feedback would be very much appreciated!
thanks guys
p.s the DVD-R i used was a max 8x speed and I burnt at 4x, as i tried previous at 1x and the game stuttered badly!! ?? again any advice.

And what was the dvd?
Do not burn it at 1x I doubt anyone ever burnt anything at 1x i know I never did I got my First Dvd Burner in 1998 and then the max was 2.4x or 4x, SO there is no point trying anything slower then 2.4x on a ps2 aanythign lower then 4x will result in a crap burn

sorry if this has been answeared already, but i just want to clrify something.
backed up a quite a few games and they all play fine no probs,
having read a few post i now realise that cheap media can cause probs!
up until now, i hav had none, but!!
i can load and play a back ups, but lets say around 15 mins in my ps2 starts making some very strange noises, the laser i assume and the game will freeze, sometimes start again but mainly freeze up!
try again and wont even load swap magic!
and wont load originals of the games!
This also happens when playing an original from start!
is this just the laser needing to be replaced!?

If cleaning/recalibrating doesen't work, then yes it sounds like a replacement is due. Prices of a diode replacement is around £30 and replacement of laser unit is about £50. But chances are you'll only need a diode replacement.

PS2s prefer DVD-R than DVD+R
And you should get some Verbatim. They are a lot better than Sony discs are.

I hate to disagree, but I think there is a vast difference between the quality of Verbatim and Ritek :) I burnt my laser out much quicker when I used Ritek compared to now where I use only Verbatim.

Ditch the media and get Verbatim DVD-R, not + and burn at 4x.
