I didn't booktype it..
But what does it mean with locking the volume?
I'll give it a go with Nero.

Thanks for the help redice and Mort81.
I burned it with Nero and it works fine, but I'm still wondering why it didn't work with DVD Decrypter.
With my old drive I never had any problems using DVD Decrypter.

busabuzz,
I've never seen that error before. Sorry I can't help you there. I seldom burn ISO's. I'm more of a video_ts man. You did manage a successful burn with Nero, correct. Did you get any software other than Nero with your drive (Qsuite)? If not you can dl it here http://support.benq.com/front/BenqMain.asp?MenuHead=128&ShowType=... Use Qsuite to booktype your dvd+r's to dvd-rom. Set it and forget it. Don't worry about your dvd-r's. Booktype dvd-rom will have no effect on them.

@busabuzz That error means something is trying to access your DVD drive while Decrypter is burning. Make sure you close everything before burning. You can even disable it under Tools-->Settings-->Iso Write Mode, then uncheck Lock Volume- Exclusive Access. Or you can simply click ignore, that feature is not important in the least, it won't affect your burns or burn quality at all.

the DVD-R format should work fine ive used 1000s of them with no problems for the last 3 or 4 years. my call is booktyping the DVD+R format is overrated when the DVD-R work just as well. and are less expensive online

I dont mind paying more for quality..plus it will take me a long time to burn even 100 disc. So iam after quality as opposed to quantity.

In the US or UK, you don't have to pay more, not exactly sure as to the status of TY's in OZ.

Tokijin-- Well I got the Benq 1650 burner from that link today, hooked it up, upgraded firmware, ran my first scan of a burn. It was the 2nd disc out of the machine, because the first one didnt scan out so well. I contributed it to the very first burn and BenQ "learning" the media. Anyway before I ramble...

You're gonna love your DW1650. I just did a decrypter iso burn for the for the first time with an old movie on 4.7DVD. First scan was a 65 after it learned the program, the second burn with same ISO decrypter mode(Different movie) was 98.

I have a 1640 and hoped it would at least be as good and for $33 delivered the price is right. My second burn, the scan I posted shows it should be. I only use + and - Yudens, and Verbatim DL if my recode/shrink goes below about 75% so this could be the beginnig of another good relationship.

Yeah I think you'll love your BenQ Deadrum, very nice scan. Not wanting to sound like a fan boy, but I've had nothing but success with mine (actually BenQ Rebadge- Sony DRU-810A). Doc and CatFreak have burned more TY's than we can shake a stick at on their BenQ's, and they swear by em. That and my personal experience is good enough for me. I believe I'd try to stick with the Phillips chip set, read up and down it's really good for BenQ. I forget that the other widely used chipset is for BenQ, but I've read it's not nearly as good.

how do you know what chipset you get in a burner or is it something you need to put into it?

ok i just went to a benq site and it talks about the chipset. which the dw1655 comes with the phillips chipset... the solidburn sounds like a pretty cool thing also, i guess you need to try the disc first so the drive gets to know them kinda like dating..lol
BenQ SolidBurn -- Intelligent Self-Learning Writing Technology
Tired of the frequent firmware updates required to maintain your drive's support of blank DVD media? With SolidBurn, the DW1655 is able to apply its own Self-Learning. Writing Strategy algorithm to allow unknown DVD±R media to be written with increased quality. So there is no need for users to update the media support list in their DVD drive as the drive keeps itself up-to-date and ensures best writing quality on all DVD±R media. Better yet, SolidBurn supports the Over-Speed Burning that allows you to burn a 4x or 8x DVD±R disc at 8x or higher speeds.
sorry doc to get off subject but it seems these drives seem to like the TY media the best

Sounds like a great feature, not sure how much is marketing gimmick vs real-stuff. I've been patiently burning DVD-R TYG02 @8x in a new DW-1650 (newegg special) and am disappointed it is not learning anything; in other wordss, the scan reports are about the same, not much noticable improvement.
So I ran Qsuite 2.1 to check that the settings are still ok. Found SolidBurn activated on both supported and unsupported media. In the media info box, just TYG02 is listed. The learned disc count shows 1 piece. Shouln't this click up after each burn or is the the count of the different MIDs it has written?
Also - there was a comment that TYG02 DVD-R and DVD+R quality was basically the same. I see many scans using +R media and the stats are lower than what I get on -R media. I don't have any + R media to see what difference I would get on my drive but have you folks experienced slightly higher PIE/PIF with -R media?
